In my honest opinion I think it portends great danger for our democracy. Infact, It will take a miracle from now on to prove election rigging through the courts because a judicial precedence has been set and reference would always be made to these cases in future. Take for instance the issue of proving overvoting/rigging through polling unit by polling unit and calling witnesses in each of the polling units....... Who can achieve this in 180 days at the tribunal? And that is my fear..... Though these judgements have favoured some people now in the short run however Nigerians will be the biggest losers at the end of the day because I trust our politicians to use this judgement to their maximum advantage in future. It's now business as usual since card readers are no longer relevant.

I think the worst precedent that would have been set by our judiciary was to have allowed those bias judgements from appeal and tribunal to stand. The Tribunal and Appeal judgements were clearly unjust.

Even if there was a rerun, the outcome would be no different; just a waste of funds that aren't available.

Perhaps, that is why ex-President Jonathan would always be a hero.

The apex court did not look at the future of Nigerian democratic election while delivering judgement.. Since card reader was introduced, it would be
better that the apex court prescribe in clear terms the use of card reader or else remove it from the electoral process..

I share your thoughts the erroneous judgement started with appeal court delivery wrong judgement in lagos case. The chief judge made it the need to give consistent judgement over board. I believe INEC will consolidate card technology to avoid such issues in the future

Akwa ibom State case was different. The petitioner prove without reasonable doubt that even if the card reader was exempted, there was still a clear case of over voting, election violence, killing, massive rigging and allocation of votes.
The Supreme Court has set a very dangerous precedence that whatever is allowed in election. That you can never get justice

For me, if inec really want it to work, they should face the NASS with electoral act amendment request so that the card reader and other technologies that could help mitigate electoral fraud be made part of the electoral act. The NASS listens and responds to INEC more than any government agency in Nigeria , they should make use of of that advantage.

The supreme court is not bound by its judgment, if it can be convinced, it can take correction like it did in the case of Amaechi - it warned against anyone setting precedence with that judgement.

I really don't have faith in the supreme court. They have taken us back to the days of morris iwu.

My dear the money put into these election petitions from tribunal to supreme court is alarming. My suggestion will be that we strenghthen our electoral processes to avoid after election litigations.

I don't know who's the hypocrite but you're the liar! Want to know why? 1. Did they challenge the kano, Sokoto, etc etc elections in court? 2. Was the name of any party inscribed on the forehead of any of the underaged voters? Why do you believe that it was only apc that recruited the underaged voters? Muazu, bamanga tukur and co did that for the pdp as well. So stfu for now!

the tribunal and appeal court judges that sat and heard the cases for 3 whole months were biased while the supreme court which sat for 6 hours were not biased abi? I am not a supporter of Nnamdi kanu but one very correct thing he said is that 'Nigeria is a zoo'. Number 1 . no state election in Nigeria ever claimed 29 lives but rivers did! Number 2. An election where the police commissioner was removed in the morning of the election. Number 3. An election said to be completely flawed by the international observers on ground. Number 4. An election where there was shooting from night till morning in some áreas. Number 5. An election where voting never took place in some places like my rumuokuta and yet pdp cleared the área. Number 6. An election where most port Harcourt rádio stations were covering live and reporting ballot box snatching, shooting, and beating up of their station correspondents.. Number 7. An election where 300,000 were accredited while the winner got 1.4 million votes! Number 8. An election where patience Jonathan and wike unleashed the army and millitants on Rivers people. Number 9. An election which Héld while original result sheets were not available. Number 10. An election where the inec returning officer could not read, identify, recognize the result he wrote down! That's the sort of election you call the tribunal bias for annulling, and praise 'supreme court gods' for upholding. This country is indeed a zoo!

crying will not change anything. The supreme court in its wisdom has upturned the appeal court's judgement. What you listed was not what the appeal court based its judgement on, the judgement was based on card reader, of which different conflicting judgements were given in cases of lagos and rivers. As such, the supreme court does not need months to see that judgement based on same issue should not conflict each other thereby bringing confusion when references are made to it in future. Wait and see the details of the judgement before hitting your head on the wall over nothing.

you are either naive, or mischievous to assert that the tribunal spent 3 months sitting, debating on card readers alone. You choose to forget how apc struggled to get the result sheets for forensics which gesilia Kan and the first tribunal judge pindiga frustrated for months until time was far spent, or how witnesses were called to attest to violence and no voting. And then you come here saying it was only on card readers? The supreme court judges got compromised and they needed a good excuse to play their pranks, then the card readers' conspiracy provided their perfect alibi. Who leads the supreme court? Is it not the same Justiçe Mohammed that wike was pursuing all over Abuja during during the tribunal sitting. The Judge even made a statement that yes wike came looking for him but it was to Thank him for making justice daisy okocha chief judge? You think we've forgotten?
