Hello Boss and Bosses on NL.

Please I just completed my HND programme in Mechanical Engineering awaiting my call up letter in February 2016.

I have been admitted to study as an undergraduate in University of Nebraska Lincoln. (BSC).

Though I Av not been issued a visa yet but before I start processing visa I want to know I I can actually survive because I am an hustler and I know there is no greener pasture anywhere than how far u can hustle to make one for urself.

With the fear of deportation or whatever? Can someone enlighten me on how I can best survive.

Will I just walk up to the sch and do necessary registration and start payment of sch fee on an instalmental basis or search for schorlarship bla bla bla.

Please I want someone in the system to enlighten me on how this is done.

Can my work pay my sch fee in Lincoln.

Will I get. A good job that can cover my expenses on a small scale sucesfully?.

Please Help me

Please help me sirs/ma

You're really fun.
Yes, you can get a job in just a day after receiving your social security card.
Your 2 months job pay can pay for your tuition.

If you are going to intern through school, they should have list of partners (companies). Have your resume and cover letter ready. If you need help, go to the writing center to help you look over the reusme. Look up tips on interview on YouTube. Dress professionally and also for internship make sure you interview with three companies that way you have option to pick from. The remaining two company, make sure you write/send them a thank you note after the interview and tell them your intent. The one you choose make sure you perform well during the internship it may lead you to your dream job.
Let me know if you have specific questions

The money you earn while working part-time would not be enough to pay your tuition and fees. For sure it can take care of accommodation, grocery shopping etc but if you work hard enough and do overtime during summer you can definitely make enough money to pay a great chunk of your overall fees.

Hello, what do you recommend to someone who is doing phd in the US and teaching undergraduates at the same time but is not enjoying it. What are the viable options for quitting the program. I will appreciate your honest and helpful advice. Thanks.

If your intention is to study, then hustling without enough funding from home will not sustain you. The jobs you will get often times pays minimum wage and you can't work more than 20 hours weekly.

Sit back and count the cost before embarking on it. Since you have HND, why not try focus on GRE and see what schools can offer you funding in your field?

You are not allowed to do overtime in the U.S. unlike Canada thus, making it almost impossible to fund one's study via working alone in the U.S.

What year are you? Just try to finish it or convert into a Master's program in your department.

Well you have to work out if you can afford to throw away all those tuition fees if you "give up."
Will you get a well paying job if you finish your studies? What about if you quit, what are your plans?
You can not stay in the USA as a legal resident which means that you either become illegal or come home and admit failure.

Haha exactly, that's true. IT's not always easy trying to fund study primarily by working (part time). Most native students work full time during school, so it's good for them. But we as international students aren't allowed except during breaks.

How have you been boss? Longest time!

Most part time jobs pay between $150-$200 weekly thus, you are not sure you will be making $1000 in a month. That said, you have bills to settle and other things to expend some monies on. This makes it difficult for you to meet up with fees and other expenses with a part time job as an International Student.

That is a rather personal question. But my tuition and other fees excluding accommodation, books, and feeding is around CAD$14,000/session.

You still have a long time to go and I will encourage you finish your 1st year and then think critically about your decision during summer. If you still choose to quit, I will suggest you get another Masters perhaps on a different specialization within your field different from the first.

I have been in the U.S. for a very short while, although I will be there for a while.

When in Rome, do as the Romans? How do i start making payments and receive money via PayPal if I don't yet have a U.S. Bank account which should be sorted out very soon.

I am trying to set up a U.S. based PayPal account from within the U.S

Is it acceptable to PayPal to link my U.S. PayPal account to my Nigerian Bank card?

Hey bro! That estimate is for UnderGrad programmes in my school. I go to University of Prince Edward Island, and it's a very good one. Memorial University of Newfounland and University of Manitoba are very good too.

It's very hard to gain a Masters admission with funding in Canadian schools especially when you didn't graduate with First Class! You never can tell though, you have to go to those schools' websites and send a direct email to the registrars/admission office. They'll provide you with all the necessary info regarding funding and other admission criteria.

Good luck bro!

I have patiently followed this trend from page 1...

I have the following questions

Does anyone have information about McLennan Community College in Texas? I would like to contact anyone currently studying there.

People sayin VOS dnt giv visas for community colleges should not discourage ppl cos I actually got my student visa to a community college.

Can I get a job on campus immediately I arrive in Waco Texas even before lecture starts.

Finally, is anyone presently studying Nursing? I need advice on Nursing Pre-requisite
Re: Life In The Usa As A Student. by sealleone(m): 2:03am On Apr 04, 2016
@victor4u....prerequisites for nursing depends on path...LPN...ADN...BSN..since it's a community college, that means the LPN and ADN....prereqs are algebra...anatomy and physiology 1&2, psychology, English comp 1 etc....not a lot but requires you study hard cos getting into the program is competitive, so good GPA goes a long way when it comes to placement...about jobs, it depends on the state you're going to...texas is highly populated so say your prayers to get an on-campus job....all na God hand e dey shaa....ps...no enter US dey find naija boys as friends, most of them na craze ppl....just come serve your jail....if you meet better naija guys na the best thing wey fit happen to you be that....goodluck hommie
