@All

DW was just denied again...very sad. Anyhoo, she asked if she cld still travel with her current visa b4 it expires end of this month and the officer said "Surr, thats fine".

So people should we take the risk and pray she gets stamp in for 6 months?

Pls gurus advise.
I had to go back to refresh my memory on the story. If you are certain she in no way breached her visa conditions then you Should take the risk. That means u have to stack the cards in your favour.write a DETAILED notification of intent. Include the fact that upon attempt to renew she was refused however the visa is still valid and she was informed by the vo that the visa can still be used and upon that premise she's using the visa to travel for birthing purposes. Then of course she should carry evidence of doctor and hospital gbogbo eh. Choose an 'easier' poe. Pray for an understanding cbp officer.Be calm at poe. Answer questions directly.don't volunteer answers to unasked questions.
That being said, u hope for the best and be ready for the worst. Be prepared to forfeit the flight ticket just in case...
If successful, documents can be gotten in 2 weeks.
God's grace

To accommodation, please shine your eyes well especially for the seemingly not-so-expensive accommodation that eventually allows you spend more on transportation.....I stayed at a shared apartment with my bathroom n toilet, only shared kitchen and living room, the distance to the clinic was 28-32 mins depending on traffic(in houston, that was far!) I ended up spending the savings I got on accommodation on transportation and even more!

Please take accommodation really close to the clinic like about 10-15mins. I met and kept contacts of some wonderful mothers turned sisters at the clinic who stayed in places like 10-15mins, and really made sense with pickup services(if required)

I don't know if it's fine to put up contacts here, before Justwise raptures my post.

Makes plenty sense, got to know about an accommodation that cost same amount as where I stayed but had so much more attached to the room, free Baby bassinet and carseat, free calls to all US numbers, free pick up and drop-off to clinic up to postnatal, close to my clinic. Everything beautiful, only thing was that she didn't know about NL and all the ladies that use her concierge didn't know too. I already told her about our dear forum and she'll do her advert here so pple can get her contact.
I literally cried when I saw her place when I was almost coming back home. Mtchewwwwww.

@chicagobound, pls can I have the name of the place and if possible the lady's info. God bless smiley

Maybe the one I need to do when I get there. But will still do them here and carry it along with me. Below is the list.

Per your request, below is the prenatal lab work that is required for all obstetrical patients...
ABO/RH,
CBC W/DIFF
FREE T4
HGB ELECTROPHERESIS
HEPATITIS B SURFACE ANTIGEN
HIV REFLEX
HERPES I and HERPES II
RPR REFLEX
RUBELLA
TSH
VARICELLE, IgG,

Dear House.

Pregnant women already in the US should ask their Doctors about the FLU vaccine shot which the CDC advised all to take. My DW's Obgyn told her about it yesterday and it's $20 in the hospital but she should check walgreens and cvs to know if it's given for free. If contracted, it can lead to Dea.....th. so I read it up on walgreens website. And got this link for anyone interested. Even kids from 6 months and healthy ppl can also take d shot as I read.

Hm. You have to consider the refund policy of the hospital and if u are willing to forfeit any amount.but for me sha o cash speaks a thousand words although we saw that the cbp in @Bigfido's wife's case was happy with pre payment.
However I feel the paramount issue now is not the consideration of if you guys will pay . The cbp will prolly be looking more into why the visa was denied.
Ehe another thing. When asked reason for coming pls mae she just yarn childbirth gan gan not that vacation and childbirth answer.

Sorry about the refusal, but as it is perhaps you guys should just travel with the cash cos refund is not always an easy thing oh! But fingers crossed and hoping for the best una go sail through easily by God's grace.

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by vcole: 2:55pm On Feb 06, 2016
Eh yah. good POE story. However, you have not really saved money o!
You see, in the US, local flights charge for baggage. $25 for first bag, $35 for second bag and $100 for each additional bag.
Also, since you purchased the international flight ticket seperate from the local flight ticket, both legs are no longer linked.
So therefore, on the return journey. You'll have to pay for your bags from Texas-New york....then pick them up on arrival in NY and then re-check them in for the NY-9ja leg. This even becomes more complicated if the local flight lands at a different airport altogether and more expensive if you have excess luggage.
Cmeo:
Firstly, Wiffy got to US through New York for the intent of giving birth in Texas using Arikair to New York and American local airline to Texas. She was asked to pre-registered at the electronic kiosk before proceeding to the CBP officer desk for fingerprint and image capturing.

CBP: What the purpose of your trip?
Wife: TO give birth
CBP: How are you going to pay for it?
Wiffy: I have $500 cash with me and I have some $6500 on a debit card here with me
CBP: Where are you going to stay here
Wiffy: Gave the address in Texas
CBP: Whats the relationship of the person to you?
Wiffy: Aunt
CBP: Whats the sex of the baby? .... smiles
WIffy: Told him
CBP: Proceed to get your bag and declare what you have there at the other end
Wiffy: Thank you

No secondary inspection. She was through within 5 minutes.

At the declaring place:
She said two officers were talking to each other what she said to the CBP officer (that she was here to give birth). The other just said my wife did and it seems america is interested in adding to its population (something like colleagues at work chatting). They asked the content of her bag and she said "Melon" they exclaimed the Melon (possibly because they thought its dangerous) and asked to proceed to a machine to scan the melon. They ask if she has gala, indomine, maggi and she answered in negative and so one of her bag was scanned in the machine and they allow her to go.

Secondly, let me share with you how we bought her ticket at total price of 218578.46 Naira.
We booked Lagos-NewYork-Lagos with airkair at 189392.00 and One-way ticket from NewYork to Houston at $108.10 (gtbank charged 29186.46 naira for that). Our preference for airkair are because: it is tiwa-n-tiwa, better price, direct to New York, they contribute to US economy and more to Nigeria economy and we also don't want to despise our own thing (though we know there are big room for improvement with Arikair).
Wiffy left Lagos at 28 weeks. Arik requested for fit-to-fly certificate and we went to Port-Health Clinic for one at the rate of 1200naira and she was examined to be 26 weeks (that was what they wrote on the certificate without anyone telling them what to do or her pregnancy age. They only asked about her last menstra date)

Just noticed the (m) now.. thought you are oestrogen laden like most of us here. cheesy

Also make sure not to pack those stuff that make it a sure thing to go for secondary inspection, cos there are times the main POE person may be "lenient" & open minded but getting picked up for secondary inspection could then throw up the bottleneck...

Best of luck & favour, anyway, anyhow, things go jell. Amin.
