Despite this marching order given to us by our
client, we still went ahead to disqualify about ten percentage of the total application received. In our opinion, these applicants are not ready for employment at all. Their presentation was below any acceptable standard. Even secondary school students dare not present such documents and expect to pass WAEC examination! Those kinds of people will give us problem during the selection
process.

If we are to be very strict in following the laid down rules and regulations, we are not sure if we can get up to half of the two hundred applicants needed. This is a very sad development indeed. Yet people
complain of scarcity of job and the few jobs available, most graduates are either not qualified or ill prepared.

Let us be honest with ourselves, go back to your
documents sent to us and assess yourself based on the following indices:
*Did you follow the instruction to use a particular
caption as subject of your e-mail to us?
*Did you write a formal cover letter applying for the specific position we advertised or you just forwarded your CV to us as one of the numerous.organisations you did similar thing to? Is your CV comprehensive and presentable – devoid of typographical
errors?

From the documents sent to us, are you sure.you are qualified for the post you applied for based on the requirements specified in the advert? Mind
you, we are not university; we want people who can be shown a process within few days and are independent thereafter.
Do you think you can pass our science-based
aptitude test if you are asked
to take it?

For instance, many did not follow a simple
instruction on how to reply us – USE THE TITLE OF OUR ADVERT AS SUBJECT OF YOUR MAIL. Some sent applications not meant for us, while some wrote long epistles as cover letter which we are not
prepared to read. Phone numbers were missing
in the CV of some and we observed a lot of typographical errors such as.spelling, the use of small letters where capital letters should have been used.e.t.c. If we are to do the right thing, no matter how good you are, we should have disqualified you from onset once you fail to follow our rules.

You can see what we are passing through as Consultants dealing with “graduates” not primary school pupils. You can equally see why so many.graduates apply for job and did not get reply! Mind you, we have not seen your face to see whether you are fine. Neither had you spoken to us to know whether you speak good English. The only thing we.rely upon at this stage to assess you is the.quality of your presentation. Your cover letter and CV represent you in our bid to access you. Once these are not well prepared, it’s like presenting yourself in.a rag before a panel.

Your document is like product package (label, carton,.packet, wrapper etc). If the package is not attractive to the eye, nobody will.care to pick it from the shelf even if the product is found to be good. For instance, the packaging of ORIJIN bitter.drink from Guinness is too attractive to be.ignored; yet the product itself might be worse than others in that category.

I want to thank all the posters,likers,sharers and comemtators of this thread. I have been a dedicated follower of this thread and I have commented maybe just twice or thrice. I have also submitted my cvs to most of the school posted here but recently I decided to try submitting around my vicinity and I got two offers,I decided to take the first offer,though d pay isn't much,its twice the pay I was collecting in my former job. I know someone's door is opening soon. Thanks to everyone here,one less unemployed graduate to worry about.

-get prepared wt d recent WAEC/NECO/IJMB/A-LEVEL/TOEFL's past questns. etc.Dependin on ur area/field.
-B ready to write a lesson note/lesson plan off hand. Pls arrange it accordingly e.g dont use summary as ur introduction.
-b ready to do micro-teaching.Moreso,they will want to text ur knowledge in handling d practical aspects of ur subject area e.g subjcts such as Phy,Chem,Bio,Geo,Agric. even in Economics if u ar nt verse in drawin all dos Demand curve/supply blabla u're out niyen o.
-dress well and pls spk polished Eng,u're not in Ajegunle.
-class managemnt.ur mthds of teaching matters.it wud fetch u gud mark durin d interview.
-b bold. abeg no dey shake like say u be Shakespeare oooo.
wat else oooo. B sure of urself cos those ppu will even try to twist and confuse u durin ur short presentatn.

oral part is just abt ur personalty how well can u cope hw many periods or subjects u can combined wt ur descipline etc.

-Power of negotiation goes a long way to make tinz easier for u.cos 2 ppu may b employed for dsame post wt dsame qualificatns bt wt diff salary.So shine ur eyes dnt pity ur intendind employer because if u try it u might regret it latter.

Anyone that is a graduate of marketing should comfortably take Economics, Business studies and Commerce, Package your resume and include that teaching experience you had while you served your fatherland.

With my little sojourn in the labour market, most of the marketing graduates I have seen flop, mess up and disappoints with ease at teaching job, during and after test, interview and micro-teaching.

In a school at Abuja, a teacher left after some years of working and they decide to get a fresh graduate teacher, ALL the marketing graduates that wrote the test and interview was a BIG FLOP.

In Lag, at Ikotun, my gosh........... marketing graduates spoil market for the ones that will come after them if ever the decide to give them a chance. One of them even beg to be pushed to the primary section after a disappointing test, interview and micro-teaching.Note: questions asked was what a primary school student can answer very well without assistance.

At Lekki, the guy came late for the written test and interview, yet he passed and was among those that were shortlisted....... Only for him to go and seat at the receptionist sit and the MD walked in and asked him, what are you doing there? and he said, am resting my back..... the young lady did not saying anything and went upstairs. ..... that came out of the mouth of someone that would be an instructor( standing is a prequisite for the job) saying his resting his back at 10.00am!!!!!!, she came back and then told the interviewer that that young man cannot work with us, when the interviewer came to him, he could not plead and when they checked his resume........ you know now.
In addition, some of your colleagues might have spoilt the ground for you to sail smoothly.

In conclusion, I do not believe in the above as long as you can prove your self or worth any employer will employ you. There are many experience hands that are unemployed, yet the ones with little or no experience are doing very well on the job.

What do you think about a 20month old child starting school in january? Me, i don't wanna rush him but "concerned fellows" won't let me be. wanted to chill till next session, he'll be 2yrs 6months by then, is it too late?

I guess like any other kids.
Let them see u as an uncle from another lineage. Create dt atmosphere where they are free 2 come 2 u when they have pressing issues ie be approachable, yet be firm, ie let dem see u as a likeable guy who takes no poo!

B. How do you handle a student crushing on you?
My take is, pretend/act like say u no know say she dey crush on u. Since "crush" na infatuation, by and by e go fade.
Ensure u reduce (if not abstain) from normal/innocent acts (eg touching, smiling etc) , dt will foster such feeling in her.
Also, if u bin dey give her special attention b4,stop am ASAP.
After some time, d tin go clear 4 her aizz.
