Imagine, I was invited for an interview. In a place i dropped my CV while the organisation was still under construction. On friday i got a text from them inviting me for an interview and the instruction was that you come with two passport and nothing more. But on getting there the HR started asking for CV's and original certificates which he succeded in using to chase most people away and then he came up with the big one "If you are an HND holder please leave" and this was the same organisation that invited me, i didnt apply o, na CV I drop. My question is what crime has HND holders committed? 20 Likes 5 Shares |

Again??I don't see anything wrong if a company needs a particular set of people or class of degree is just like some companies will say they need private uni over federal uni just like a bank I went to submit cv they told me they don't collect my school CV,so I let it go still the same way some will advertise and tell you strictly for MSC or Lagos residents..... it's just normal my dear no need beating up yourself over that just believe in yourself because one day the opportunity will present itself #just my opinion # 101 Likes 3 Shares |

i just wished this present administration will put an end to this madness..we copied our system of education from the British , so why cant we upgraded our own as they have upgraded everything to be equal many decades ago? Nigerians remain the problem of Nigeria 7 Likes |

@Funkygliz its good you read something very well to get the message before saying anything. Like I said earlier, my annoyance was that we were invited for the interview when they knew HND holders were not needed. And mind you i just dropped my CV when the building was still under construction 4 Likes |

The one big question has always been "Did they force you to go for a HND programme?" When others wrote JAMB and passed it, why did you not write/ fail/ meet the cutoff? Since you can always go back to school, or convert your HND to a degree, I don't see the need for your ranting #bittertruth 59 Likes 6 Shares |

Nigerian Airforce is recruiting for ND and not Degree. Would you shout that Bachelor Degree holders are marginalised? If you do not complain about this, then you are biased. 63 Likes 1 Share |

Otsealu1: My candid advice to you is if its possible u change ur statues cos the policy will not change the only thing that can change is u..this is the same advice I got back then I obtained my HND back then but unfortunately I work with an organization who don't recognized the cert banking sector for ur info but my dear when I got advice I went back for my bsc and today I av finished the bsc wt 2.1 currently doing my MSc and glory be to God i got my promotion wt the bank. Moral of the lesson is nothing will change except you my dear if u remain complaining about this believe me the policy will not change. HND and bsc syndrome in naija may not change now cos the issue has been there before now and it will be there for long. 21 Likes 1 Share |

When I see people saying they are going to the polytechnic, I cant just help but pity them. The discrimination in the labour market id massive. I finished ND and still wrote Jamb. Then I got admission to start 100L at University of Benin. My friends at the polytechnic were laughing at me saying that was backwardness. To cut the long story short, I have a very good job today and most of them are still at home and the few ones working are teachers. Sorry bro and I think the Government needs to do something about it. 15 Likes 1 Share |

I don't think this madness will stop soon. The stigmatization is on the increase. Upgrade the HND to Bsc. Bottom line: A lasting solution is always the best solution. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Dats the situation we see tuday. Its in every sector of naija's economy. Despite the fact that some very brilliant guys and ladies come out from polytechnics, they are still marginalised in working places. I remember when i was in banking, i was actually taught cash tellering by a HND holder. He was quite good and was the best out of all the tellers. Yet they never upgraded him. He was on a stagnant 50k for straight 3 yrs, while BSC holders like myself went from 130 to 200 to 350 in that 3 yrs. Infact they use him to train freshers with BSC who end up becoming his boss. There are so many other people like that in different sectors. To be candid, i cant advise any friend or relative to apply fr polytechnics except the person wants to do personal business after that. Yes polytechnics give the most practical training, but out der in working environment, the graduates are terribly marginalised. 15 Likes 2 Shares |

You people don't complain when OND and HND are only needed but will come online and rant when it does not favour you. I know some positions that are strictly for HND. That's their own elemination method you can blame gej if you have not done so today. 13 Likes |

Sister ...the job is not yours ni I had similar experience in 2009 but I was able to proof myself when they couldn't find a competent person among the so called BSC holders then. With my lower credit from poly Ibadan . I score 72% in their test and when they called us for interview . I was asked to leave cos of my lower credit in HND . but 3 months after they remember that the same guy that has HND (lower credit) broke the company record with 72% since 1991 then they invited me for another interview which I floured all other candidates. Today I know my position In that same company with the BSC holders. Any grade or qualification you have ....just be able to defend it anywhere. Any company that's discriminating nowaday will not grow. Mark my words 20 Likes 1 Share |

Thing most of these companies do not realize is that they need more of HND than BSc holder... BSc holder here yab me i no send you. My reason is because based on the purpose of establishing polytechnics, they are the ones required to do the work while BSc holders are more or less their supervisors. Even at that, there are HND holders who are good at the supervisor work cos some BSc holders just has the title for fashion cos they no sabi shii. These companies should learn not to underestimate the worth of some people cos at the end of the day, they need people to deliver the job required and not mare title. And yes i am a graduate of BSc and i write this! 5 Likes 2 Shares |
