@Funkygliz its good you read something very well to get the message before saying anything. Like I said earlier, my annoyance was that we were invited for the interview when they knew HND holders were not needed. And mind you i just dropped my CV when the building was still under construction

babe I understand what you meant and like u said you went to submit your CV while the company is still under construction meaning no vacancy yet because they haven't advertised yet but you went ahead to submit and also the companys fault for collecting all sort of CV without specification....so my point is your trying to bring up hnd and bsc discrimination which is certainly not called for and besides I have seen couple of advert that said just hnd holders should apply and u didn't open a thread for discrimination o. in BTW am not good to quote people so pls I understand your plight.

In sincerity, I did not want to make a comment but I just guess you will truly need an advice.
Don't look down on yourself because of what happened because there are many BSc graduates out there who didn't study what they actually wanted but because of the challenges of securing admission, studied it nevertheless.
Look at your surroundings, identify the challenges and get back to me..... Let me make an entrepreneur out of you who will begin to employ BSc graduates within a short period of time

Oyedepo is an OND holder
Sam Adeyemi is an HND holder
Ogun State governor is an HND holder

Bill Gate dropped out of school

I knew some Universities satellite campuses which offer admission to students based on 5 credits in NECO back in the year 2008/2009 without writing JAMB at the initial stage. University of Ibadan: Ilesha Campus, University of Uyo Satellite Campuses, OAU, Adeyemi College of Education campus etc were perfect example as at then: why the fuss?

My brother who is an English Lecturer in one of Nigerian Universities did not have Credit in English Language up till date and he did not hide it from us: he obtained preliminary form and he was given English Language as a course of study latter.

Don't be surprised, some Polytechnic students have better qualifications and professional wherewithal than you: how people like you reason despite being the product of self-acclaimed University is surprising:

It would have been better you kept quiet than this gibberish you wrote. Her complain was calling her for an interview when they knew they don't want to hire HND graduates.
You should have complained about the inefficiency of the HR rather than thinking and trying to prove you are better than HND graduates.

Seriously...I dnt see discrimination here....last time checked..
OND= ordinary national diploma
HND=higher national diploma

Is there a need to stress this again It's called a Diploma!!!!!!!!!!! There's no country where diploma nd university degree is seen as the same or carry same weight. There was never a time where the any education body or the federal government made a diploma nd university thesame... a company that wants a degree holder for a particular job position isn't discriminating...do u know how may times I've tried applying for a job in ExxonMobil mobil nd they say they want only HND, same for BAT...nd there are times they want BSc....just deal with it...every job post has its specification...

Then, polytechnics should be scrapped in the 1st place, what the point of after getting an HND, u den move to degree, it makes no sense.

I understand your point though, but it still make no sense. If all HND holders should go for degree then, HND should be scrapped.

What we need is the Govt to make their policy straight and clear. One man course is everyone's course. There is no blaming OP on this. If poly's were not made available,no one will attend it.

My bros that is why u see an average Nigeria rich man will not put any of his Kid in polytechnic and even if the do they av other alternative. On friday i got a text from them inviting me for an interview and the instruction was that you come with two passport and nothing more. But on getting there the HR started asking for CV's and original certificates which he succeded in using to chase most people away and then he came up with the big one "If you are an HND holder please leave" and this was the same organisation that invited me, i didnt apply o, na CV I drop. My question is what crime has HND holders committed?

I got your point, "the heaven help those whose help themselves" I understand.

Let us just advice everyone to forget anything OND and HND and then aim for a degree.

As for your own case, u were just lucky(opportunity+hard work).
U can't tell me that there are not many degree + masters holders that are out of job,

I also know of people who work in places like FRSC, civil defence, immigration etc that are degree holders,but are working with OND, simply because there is no vacancy for degree holders, it is a two way thing, I also know one of my mum's friend, she started work with HND, she later went for degree, but ever since, she has been unable to convert, it is a two traffic scenario bro. Nevertheless, I still got your point.

I guess u are a degree holder. but do u know dat HND holders are more experienced. don't discriminate cos u just might be shocked dat dos guys could not afford HND holders. though I actually think it's there choice.

Again??I don't see anything wrong if a company needs a particular set of people or class of degree is just like some companies will say they need private uni over federal uni just like a bank I went to submit cv they told me they don't collect my school CV,so I let it go still the same way some will advertise and tell you strictly for MSC or Lagos residents..... it's just normal my dear no need beating up yourself over that just believe in yourself because one day the opportunity will present itself #just my opinion #
There is a big "wrong" in that. We are not to be reminded that in Nigeria an HND holder is seen as inferior to a degree holder- which in fact is not correct or even not true

When I see people saying they are going to the polytechnic, I cant just help but pity them. The discrimination in the labour market id massive. I finished ND and still wrote Jamb. Then I got admission to start 100L at University of Benin. My friends at the polytechnic were laughing at me saying that was backwardness. To cut the long story short, I have a very good job today and most of them are still at home and the few ones working are teachers. Sorry bro and I think the Government needs to do something about it.
Bro what you did is exactly what am doing now,I just finished my ND and will be writing jamb this year to study Chemical Engineering in UniBen.Most of my friends don't think its a good idea though even my parents don't even know about it.wish I can come here latter this year and give testimony ....lol

Moral of the lesson is nothing will change except you my dear if u remain complaining about this believe me the policy will not change. HND and bsc syndrome in naija may not change now cos the issue has been there before now and it will be there for long.
how did u convert from HND to bsc and wat are the basis or criteria to convert
