Yeah, its 'Half-full Half empty' but the odds are somehow more and my emphasis is on those for whom that money may not be easy to come by. Even from your analysis, it appears things are tight for Ontario otherwise, they won't suddenly come up with such application fee for a programme they have not been charging money for before now and don't forget, they are the only province charging money, others are doing same programme without charging. Meanwhile, by bringing up the information that they are owing, i wasn't implying that it is the reason they are asking people to pay so they can use it to offset the debt but then, if they cannot allocate money for immigration processing which they have been doing before now, its safe to say things are tight for them.

Besides, look at it very well, why haven't they been nominating people since last year June when they started receiving applications and certainly collecting money? They have also said your money is not refundable and they have just 1000 slots, with the number of people who want to go to Ontario, i'm almost certain they would have exceeded the 1000 in applications, what then would be their criteria for selection and subsequent nomination? For me, having family ties and job offer is what may possibly help and even at that, its still speculation. Anyone can make their decision based on some of the info and insights we have shared here but whoever is applying should be prepared

From what I understand, Ontario isn't willing to subsidize for their potential migrants as such, all the basic cost need be borne by each individual willing to relocate to the province.

Greeting to you all, what are they specific things CIC check when conducting background check?I don't know what they check.make I no go fall my hand.
I need input from you guys.

Security checks basically like PCC, etc, and sometimes foreign work experience if in doubt. For most fsw outland applicants, BG check in progress status pretty much means you are getting the ppr.

She has no professional work experience. Afrer nysc she started importing cosmetics from the UK and shes doing well there. She studied Geology

Okay, that pretty much leaves you with jesusDway's suggestion if you qualify for the SINP. Otherwise, give OINP a try if your CRS>400

sometime abbreviations use here often get my brain cracking trying to figure out what they mean.I guess PCC means Police Clearance,of course BG is background so PPR is Permanent resident,am I right?

Thank you for the hint

Thank you. I appreciate. Hope my ECA been equivalent to a 4years degree in mechanical engineering does not affect the mechanical engineering technologist option? And when entering the express entry pool,do i go with the same noc2232?
JesusDWay:

First off, you can only apply to a province when they announce that their Provincial nomination programme is open. Depending on the province, some may require licensing which i would rather you avoid for now till you get there. My advice is that you check Saskatchewan again and ensure you choose the Mechanical Engineering Technologists(NOC 2232) as it does not require licensing unlike Mechanical Engineering that requires licensing. Open an account on the SINP Application portal and fill your details and attach all required docs such that, at anytime they open it, you just submit, before it gets filled(people are speculating it may open in March). Regarding Ontario, except you know it won't pain you if they don't take you, i don't encourage people to apply for the Ontario thing. They have been contacting people to apply since last year June and i'm yet to see anyone who they have nominated. They have only 1000 spaces, do you think if they have been attending to them since then, they wont have gotten the 1000? Lot's of people actually want to go to Ontario and i believe the competition will be high but then, it's still your decision as it might work, but that is based on you scoring over 400 in your crs

Your degree and eca shouldn't be a problem. However, your job description on ref letter should closely match the NOC code for ME technologist

Hello All. This is my very first post on here. I did IELTS, first shot at it, and did not do too well, plus I am not that young anymore. I want to know if having the CPA can qualify me for the extra 50 points under the 'certificate of qualification from a Canadian Province or Territory (Skilled trade occupations)'. I have the ACCA, just wondering if it works to speedily obtain the CPA in order to get the number boost.

I will appreciate an urgent feedback.

ACCA does not qualify as certificate of qualification. it only applies to skilled trades and not skilled workers.
it simply refers to trades such as plumbing, electricial, technicians and the likes.
here is a link of the list of trades that requires a certificate of qualification.

you can also read more here....

for more scores on your profile cos of your age, i will suggest u max the score for language proficiency.
it could go a long way. not easy but possible. study and practice more. MAY God help us all.

The best way is to manually calculate your score yourself using the CIC website.

Happy sunday to everyone!

Please is there anyone who has had his/her credentials evaluated by WES from Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri?

My status on WES website has been "awaiting verification from your institution" since november last year.

All my efforts to get past this stage has proven abortive. I'm soliciting for help from anyone here who may have a link or contact to the department responsible for responding to such verification in Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri.

Thanking you guys in advance for your help.

It more likely to be your error, as the CIC crs tool and mycic use the same algorithm for crs calculation.

I would suggest recreating your profile again to be double sure you didn't make any mistake. With point difference of 20-22, you may want to keep a close eye on your spousal information.

The seemingly danger here is your study visa. FSWC is assessed against fixed criteria; and you get issued the visa once those criteria are met. On the other hand, study permit falls under temporary visa for which you must indicate your commitment to returning home after your program. Unfortunately, having an active FSWC application while applying for study visa clearly shows you do not intend to return.

The silver lining here is that --having an EE profile does not translate to a formal visa application. So I think you can create your profile on EE and wait for an ITA while still pursuing a study permit.

Caveat: I do NOT know if CIC scans the EE pool as a procedure before issuing any temporary visa.

hello house...ive been here for a while now reading through the posts to help me make my decision btw Canada and Australia.i initially wanted to try the Australian route but the requirement for lawyers is really daunting, so i decided to switch to canada since i dont need to be admitted/licensed as a canadian lawyer(hope im right tho) to be eligible for immigration. please i need someone to help put me through the WES thing, i have created an account on WES but i have a few questions
1. is WES the appropriate body to assess a lawyer's credentials?
2. i chose western union as the payment route but i just noticed i have to pay in dollars which is a far cry from the CAD-NGN amount i initially did, omo i no fit o. Can i change my payment option? also can anyone help me out on the best way to go about this WES payment? i will register for IELTS this week and send my Law school and University transcripts this week too.

I'll advice you not to try it. To get your student visa you must make your intentions known that you would be going back home after your studies. Now if you create an EE profile for PR CIC will definitely see it and this will jeopardise your chances of successfully obtaining the student visa. You'll just have to pick one route.

1) Yes it's WES
2) You can pay in Naira at Western Union but you'll select the option of the beneficiary receiving it in dollars. The Western Union exchange rate wouldn't be the same as the black market exchange rate. Have you tried going to the Western Union website to check what the naira to dollars exchange rate is?

Thanks Zandora for d prompt reply. I haven't actually and I didn't complete d payment form (the one dt redirects from WES' registration page) so what can I do now? Start a fresh payment process or not?
Also pls I'd like to know if any lawyer has been successful with d FSW programme or atleast attempted it. I sstill do not know if its necessary to send my Law school transcripts for evaluation? Anyone with knowledge on this should help me out.
Thanks.

Don't bother sending Law school transcripts, it wont fetch you any extra marks, your school transcript is sufficient. Meanwhile, it's your present work that matters more when you are applying, not majorly the course you studied. Even if you are a practising Lawyer, you should find the equivalent of what you do in Canada, its called NOC(National Occupation Classification), that's the work your application will be based on. Your level of qualification, IELTS Grade(you must not score less than 6 in any of the segment but know that you need far more than scoring 6 if you want to stand a good chance. You should aim at scoring the highest which is Band 9 abi it's 10), Age, no of years of work experience, etc, are what your assessment will be based on. Regarding payment for WES, you can look for the option of asking someone over there in Canada or US to pay for you with their credit card while you bargain with them the naira equivalent you'll pay them provided you can get anyone of such(that's for those who needs to use the naira)

Thanks. Only time will tell what I will go for eventually but I will continue to monitor both cases esp the express entry as I can continue to improve my points without officially registering on the CIC website at this time until an appropriate time.

Thank you so much for that tip. Means I'll only send it to the legal profession admitting abi licensing body when I get there. I still need to ask: Shebi I don't need to go through d hassles of being licensed to practice law in Canada till I get there? Coz that one won't work o....lol. I called my account officer and he said I can pay the way you guys suggested. The earliest date I've gotten for IELTS is 5th of march PH. Well by then WES would hv been done. Means I can only open a profile in llate march. It's well. When you say current employment what if I resigned last year?
