There is definitely going to be a tribal war on this thread.

But I got my little contribution to make. I live in the south west, and I did my youth service in Anambra...and I have to say, the people I taught sure weren't intelligent. They laughed at me when I told them men had gone to the moon before. Girls came from outside to write exams in the school cos they received assistance. I really don't know what is going on though...Educational standard might really have fallen in the south west, but when I think of all the people that excel academically in our society that are from the south west, I wonder if all these data are accurate.

Inasmuch as I appreciate the fact that the SE is soaring high in WAEC, my experience during my Service Year keeps me worried and I think what we see is just fantasy. I won't say more than this.

But the south west would still dominate in the bussiness and labour sector because all we the south south and the south east think is only school while the people from the south west after or before schooling are going for other proffesional training and leadership certifation programmes to boost their cv, therefore beating you with 9 A's in the labour market any day any time.

We can beat them in exams, but they calculates the bussiness and the labour market more than us.

Here they go again with another useless excuse.

haha.... when most of the students believe in expo, orijo. Many of them are after material things, see celebrities as role model. Education in Nigeria is poor. Though, southwest is still at the forefront.

One major reason of dwindling education system in the South West could be the issue of free Education.
It appears their teachers are not giving their best to the students undecided
Again, nothing good comes free even in Freetown smiley

the craziest and amazing thing is that, while their parents were drinking milk and honey during the civil war in these other regions, those in the South East were being starved to death.

Today, things have changed, Igbos are leading in anything academics. Imo state has the highest professors, Anambra leads in anything secondary school competition and now Abia State is leading in WAEC

From the south-east to the south-west and down to the north education is generally bad in Nigeria and needs urgent attention. Apart from the lack of infrastructures and incentives from the government to teachers, kids these days do not show any desire to learn. How can one explain the fact that an average eight-year-old in lagos knows the lyrics of efejoku off head but doesn't know how many continents we have in the world ?. Take a trip to any jamb center most prospective undergraduates students writing the exam are more interested in any expo they can lay theirs hands on before the exam starts. The moral decadence social media has caused is a topic for another day. That was how one jamb student boasted to me how he scattered post ume exam immediately after the test. well, I was curious to know the type of questions that was asked. He told me in the current affairs they asked "who the senate president was", I was like the questions are cheap oo. something just told me to ask him and when I did he said " is it not David mark" I shook my head in disbelief with all the news of saraki then when his corruption case just started with CCT I knew he would fail and yes he failed woefully.
Bros are you talking about this year jamb that has not been written or last year jamb that held before Saraki was sworn in?

No need to be worried until d SE start developing their own lands.. and stop roaming about

what's d benefit of profs. bookworms when you have nothing to show for it... only eroded lands etc.

SW is still da bomb puleasee

What do you mean "their own lands". I think you mean to say that "when will Nigeria start to develop it's country". When will you people understand that as it is, sink or swim, you are all in this boat together?

Relax guys. There is no population up there in the desert.
They are just inflating population statistics because of oil in the south.

The moment south west, South South and south east realise they just mistakes, reconcile and come together, the north have to obey them.
Unfortunately, the useless Oba Akiolu wants the Igbos to drown if they vote for another candidate.

it's a thing to get result n it's another thing to defend it. most of those that make waec in se make use of special centre. in fact this is the order of d day in both ss n se bt in d sw it is curb to d barest minimum.

The writer is a buffoon... You are talking WAEC and you are talking about jobs, which company employs WAEC holders? We should be worried if it were graduates he was talking about. No sentiments, but the number of professors from ekiti alone surpassess the number of professors from the first 5 states on that list

But in the past, the free education worked. Just like the OP said, something is distracting the kids from studying..
