Most of us are utterly ignorant of how serious and dangerous things are in this country. Ignorance is truly bliss. The joke is that we have access to all the information we need to become great, but who go force black man to read?! How do you ever hope to develop a nation when the vast majority of your people are BOTH ILLITERATE AND IGNORANT? |

Interesting analysis... Personally, i find it really alarming that kids of nowadays watch TV programmes without control unlike what was obtainable in the past especially here in the South West (Can't say much about states in the SE region). Parents are using this to distract their wards from disturbing them rather than enforcing the "Go and read your books" mandate... 1 Like |

Well said. True too. But your bias for the SE is too obvious in this post. The North is the North, I will leave it at that. It is the SW I'm worried about. It is clear to see that a lot of youths in Ogun and Lagos are one way or the other drifting to the entertainment industry, with or without efforts put in. That is the distraction. I see more piercings, tattoos, bleaching, dreadlocks etc than ever before, mutilate their bodies, most times appearing unemployable too. They are distracted. 11 Likes 1 Share |

Yorubas will blame Igbos and claim their results were altered. But even people from outside Africa know that Igbos naturally have very high IQ. So nobody should be surprised. The growing numbers of middle class families have helped the Igbo because most people can now afford to send their kids to school. Even the very poor among them insist on their kids getting atleast secondary school education and prefer their kids learning a skillful trade than going into ordinary apprentice without education. 12 Likes |

CCsurplus007:In my opinion,I think one of the reasons why Lagos is doing so badly in waec is because of social media and gadgets. In the east, you hardly see secondary school students with expensive phone;the highest you'd see with them are those phone which cannot browse that they sell for 1500 or 2k. Lagos has the highest percentage of smart phone users among junior high and senior students. This in my opinion is making them lose concentration in their studies. Since my husband bought my 10year old son a smart phone,he dropped from 1st position to 3rd,and his teachers and headmistress sent for me just yesterday to complain. That same yesterday the headmistress said they caught a girl in jss 3,same class with my son watching pornog.raphy in her class after school hours with her phone. What has the world turned into. They should start by banning the use of smart phone by high school students until after WAEC! 10 Likes 1 Share |

Oblongata:that was several years ago..right now abia has the highest..and as for those of you complaining abt S.E schools I have met students from ogun state college of science and tech. to be precise who can't make a speak English for 10mins without adding Yoruba, and their spelling was nothing to write home about,u can barely see an average ogun kid conversing fluently in english.I have equally met such cases in the east, eket and the north will be the worst.in my uni, those of us who schooled in lag are no match to students from fggc owerri, fgc okigwe, onitsha and government colledge owerri, most best graduating students are always alumni of those schools.I think environment and exposure has a lot to do in a child's development, parents too should help their wards, students dis days don't read books like things fall apart e.t.c they are more bothered with Facebook, sports betting, nairaland and girls 7 Likes 1 Share |

kay29000: I served in Ondo state too and if I tell you what I saw in your capital, Akure. You will cease to hold your stand against the igbos. Or are we going to talk about the different centres in Ibadan? Please, we all have villages with illiterates, that does not underscore the intelligent ones among them. 20 Likes |

That is the only reason the North and their SW collaborators are scared to their bone marrow of an independent Biafra nation. The quantum of development that will spring up will be more than what happened after German unification(Bismarck's 2nd Reich). 14 Likes |

CCsurplus007:And we won't be so worry in the south west is that when I was in service in Abia state, all External exams was boldly written for them on the chalkboard. We have practice that in the south west but return back to read and pass when we detected the gap in the higher institution. At the University level! Are they the best? Compare the number of first class graduate south west produce to south east, Are they the best in Jamb? Are they the best in law school? All r No. we are mature than malpractise 1 Like |
