They wouldn't ask Tinubu to do so under oath because Nigerians would not even consider it to hold a man accountable for such an "immoral" act. They would say it is his private life and men are polygamous b nature. grin grin grin

That's the difference!

No one would ask you to defend cheating or question you for cheating unless it comes with something else. e.g perjury in the case of Clinton

Below is Newt Gingrich, the Speaker who impeached Clinton

====================================================================================
Let's remember, Newt famously dumped wife #1 for wife #2 while wife #1 was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery. As in literally went to the hospital to present her with divorce papers while she was recovering from surgery for uterine cancer.

He eventually dumped wife #2 for wife #3 shortly after wife #2 was diagnosed with MS back in 1999. And he was having the affair on wife #2 with wife #3 while he was turning the country upside down trying to drive Bill Clinton from office over his affair with Monica Lewinsky.
====================================================================================

Yet he completed his term as Speaker and even contested for US presidency

@bold

Are you saying that a female president would have to resign from office if she cheated on her husband?
She doesn't have to do anything...but it would be quite presumptuous to think her political career will remain the same after that.

Stick to the Clintons. I am not in the mood to read up several stories on the Internet.

Now tell me, why no Nigerian president would have to swear under oath that he didn't cheat on his wife / have sex with his employees.

THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE!

If the economy was flourishing, she would be forgiven, just like Clinton.

Thats because most Nigerian president practise religions that enable them to marry multiple wives. Why would a Nigerian president who is openly marrying multiple wives deny it

The only one Jonathan who was a practising Xtian, despite several rumours that he fathered kids outside the marriage, would deny under oath to cheating because his religion would not accept it and would dent his image

Even if the rumours were proven to be true, there would be no impeachment and we both know it. wink

Whats the relationship between a flourishing economy and infidelity?

Come on Crackhaus, we do not need to go round in circles. You, Raumdeuter and I know that no Nigerian politician would be held accountable for sleeping with his employees in the way Clinton was. And I am sure Hillary was not asked to fast and pray. grin grin grin

No but the most famous one because the press jumped onto it as if it was something unnatural for a man to cheat. grin
And because he is the only one who has been impeached as a result of it. grin

He wasn't held accountable for sleeping with her, he was held accountable for lying about it.

Legislation took care of the rest, and this is what makes their society different from ours.

The press jumped on it because miss Monica wanted to make a movie star of herself.

We have been there and we have already answered the question.

[size=18pt]Again, a Nigerian politician, Christian or Muslim would not have to swear under oath whether he cheated o not or whether he slept with his employees.

Burying her head in shame is the aftermath of not getting the public sympathy she thought she would get by coming out...is this rocket science for God's sake?

This woman has a degree in psychology. She knew nobody would pat her on the back for sleeping with a married man. Americans can be pretty conservative. She knows her people. She is still not burying her head in shame. She is running from show to show playing the victim now, which she clearly isn't. Stop smoking before 6 pm. tongue tongue kiss

It wouldn't even get to that point where a Nigerian politician has to be docked for infidelity.
Legislation in the US is what makes it different from ours, this isn't the argument.

The argument is that the general reaction to infidelity by a man is the same everywhere.

Do you know her net worth? Do you have half of the money she is in possession of?

Just because she is selling herself off as a victim and a feminist at the same time fighting against slut shaming, doesn't mean that I buy it.
And you don't either. wink

He means minus the cultural/religious difference of Polygamy being acceptable in Nigeria vs America. There isnt much difference between the two societies regarding cheating

Cheating is common in American culture as it is in Nigeria
I really don't understand what point you're trying to make..

Since cheating is common in America too, does it now make it acceptable or what?

You guys are just dragging that it doesn't happen only in Nigeria. Yeah? So? Does it now make it something good?

No, it isn't.

And you don't believe that a culture in which polygamy is culturally embedded has the same approach to infidelity as a culture that has a much longer tradition of monogamy. You are smart enough to understand it. You don't have to publicly agree though.

No one on nairaland has half the money you claim she's worth, but that's besides the point.

The point is that if not for the fact that she made a public spectacle of the affair, Clinton would never have even had the need to undergo impeachment proceedings on that account.
America always has to be politically correct - the moment she publicized it, Clinton lost the ability to sweep it under the rug and legislation took over to maintain political correctness.
