Why would the Kenya-air force specifically 'white-out' what looks like a runway in Laikipia airbase and leave everything else including all the other barracks, open to google maps satellite images(public). The runway looks bigger than the current one, and since they left a small part, you can see the width, So whats the point of having google-maps hide the runway? can markings on a runway have specific meaning in-terms of types of aircraft that can land?

denisfidha: Planes taking off and landing leave tire marks. By comparing the number of tire marks you can work out the frequency of use of the airbase and guess the number of aircraft stationed there. While the location of the tire marks allows you to guess the type of aircraft stationed there (smaller planes need less runway so land "short" bigger planes need more so they land "long" |

patches689:Was thinking in that direction, but still think its weird, since all the planes were lined up out of that hanger on the right, you can count all of them, and then when you look at the end of the runway, there seems to be another hanger (or something) that has been white-outed too, why not hide the one housing all the f-5s, tucanos..... Weird

Nigerian Naval dockyard Apart from building, maintaining and overhauling of Nigerian naval vessels. The Nigerian navy rents out it's dockyard to private Nigerian companies who use it for construction of Oil rigs/Platforms, Barges, pipelines and vessels. This makes very good business sense. 1 Like

New helmet for Nigerian army? Camo helmet to hide your head a bit when it sticks out of a trench as soldier tries to maintain situational awareness. Also, the green woodland camo is now likely new standard across NA,NN, NAF, as the air force chief now wears it. Nigeria may have 3 universal comos, one for jungle, one for desert, one for all terrain. Urban camo is best at grey color like USA national guard who are meant for urban warfare or homeland warfare. There is no one single perfect camo uniform for all types of battle environment/war terrain in this world, it will never work.... no colour works in snow except white. 2016 defence budget provides millions of dollars for new uniforms/kit for Nigerian armed forces.

Panzerfaust: Wrong. T-90 has lots of 'impenetrable' composite armour and anti-missile self defence systems, plus highly sophisticated computerized combat management systems, all weather/day/night fighting systems and superb communications/navigation technology. Difference between $4.5 million price and $1.5 million price tags. Superior armour, superior self protection electronic countermeasures, superior overall operating systems. PHOTO 1 : RANDOM T-90 PHOTOS 2 & 4 : SOPHISTICATED TECHNOLOGY INSIDE T-90 PHOTO 3 : AFRICAN T-90...ALGERIA...these guys should go kill El-Shabbab in Somalia and help AU / AMISOM....why keep over 300 units of brand new T-90 tanks idle and jobless in Algerian army armoury? Why?

Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by patches689: 9:19pm On Feb 09, 2016 |
agaugust: Shorta has been abandoned in more recent T-90 builds - its practically useless. Russia has accepted that the T90 is obsolete after it got thrashed in the Thai MBT trials by both the Chinese and Ukranian offerings. Hence plans to upgrade all of them to T90AM/SM(export designation) and in doing so sacrifice funding for the new T-14 And yes, it is literally nothing more than a T-72. Hell, you could even argue that Tanzanian Type 59G's are better If you are a poor country, and you arent buying the VT-4, you need to drag your generals outside and have them shot.
