mel3assy:. How about use the visa for a short visit first...that way when you go the next time for the actual birth and declare, who knows it might go easier for you since you have used it for the original purpose of visiting. Secondly, I dont know if things have changed now but from the info an Egyptian friend gave me in 2009, the US is friendly with Egyptians... 1 Like |

Hello house, i have been following for sometime now but never participated in anything. I renewed my visa through a dropbox late last year. I'm getting ready for my journey and seriously need some advice. I'm 34 weeks gone, intend to travel by February 28/29th. My EDD is March ending. My problem is that i'm on a very low budget . My Hubby is currently unemployed so i'm on this alone. I intend traveling with my 4 year old daughter and all i have at hand now is 2.5m. I will deliver via CS or VBAC(if possible) 1.I need advice on how to get a cheaper ticket for both of us by tomorrow. 2.The cheapest doctor i can get in Houston. 3.Cheapest accommodation i can get in Houston. 4.Can i get someone to share accommodation with me? 5.If i open account with IBTC tomorrow, will it be possible to get PTA from them before i leave? 6.I dont want to stay too long after birth since i dont have the fund. How many weeks should i give after delivery? 7. What airline can i use at 36/37 weeks? I need your help my dear people, i'm so exhausted right now, i have been working day and night to raise cash. |

Emeriem since you are on a limited budget is it possible to leave your toddler behind? To save you some money for ticket and also the stress, if you can that will be good, because you won't get a ticket of less than 250k As per the Houston doctors and clinics if you just take sometime to read back you will see affordable hospitals and doctors you can use, also for pta just make sure you go to head office at stanbic with your ticket to make it faster for you, cheers. 1 Like |

Besides, there is no reliable hand to take care of her now. Please can i get some hospital/doctor's names? I find it difficult reading through all pages ...i'm so busy and tired these days |

mel3assy: Will you hide your baby when you are leaving the US? Advice: Travel for vacation before you start to show. Spend a week and come back. Then travel to have your baby later. This is not fail proof but it's still better than what you want to do |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by showstopa: 2:14pm On Feb 10, 2016 |
@emeriem I do not like to see people stressed out especially pregnant women. This US waka is not an easy something. You sound like a strong woman however compromises need to be made. Sometimes when we make estimates, that's all it usually is. I would normally say if you expect something to be 200 dollars normally, add jara and estimate 220 or 250. Going with the lower end of your budget is not a wise idea. You don't want to be stuck in a strange country with a toddler and a baby and cash strapped. My advise would be, if going with your daughter, carry plenty cash and if you want to manage or be frugal then you should consider leaving your toddler behind. If I remember correctly, your husband is unemployed. Would he not be able to take care of her? Sorry I don't hv any contributions about airprice. On a lighter note, as a student studying overseas many years ago, I was looking for cheap return ticket to Naija. I found one, really cheap walahi. It was UK-Germany-Dubai-Lagos bwahahaha not exaggerating, it was like almost 3 days to get to Naija. You know the rest of the story lol. BUt it was cheap shaaaaaa 7 Likes |

Hello house, i need advise. Myself, wife and 3 years old son applied for US visa and we were asked if we plan giving birth which is said NO. Visa was granted but the VO said if you give birth you will be ban for 5 years. We plan giving birth in Houston. My wife was invited by National Association of School Nurses to speak on their 48th Annual conference in Indianapolis. I need advise from gurus in the house on how to go about the stuff. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by anonymousmum: 2:20pm On Feb 10, 2016 |
emeriem: First of all 2.5mn is about 9k + ticket money if you are able to get PTA at N210 ish. So you may still work within your budget. 1. Go to Wakanow.com. Enter your dates, search all the websites one by one. 2. Your best bet is Oakbend Hospital / Dr. F - tried and tested, package plan with hospital and doctor. Plenty Naija mamas that use the hospital that can provide a support system (as you are travelling with your daughter). If you want to use Dr F, you will need a recommendation from someone that has used him before. 3. Accommodation...not sure about this. You may use all these concierge services (they also offer services like transportation to clinic for visits, etc), for perhaps 1k2 a month? thereabouts 4. May not be necessary, you have a child with you so sharing room / accommodation may not be convenient 5. Policies on PTA change everyday. Read up LadyGuinivere posts on how she got PTA from (I think) Stanbic 6. Personally, I returned about 3 weeks after having my baby. Generally for Houston, you can get all your documents within 2-3 weeks, but to be safe, 1 month is ok 7. 37 weeks is way too late. I would advise that as you are 34 weeks, aim to leave Nigeria within 1 week maximum. BA, Air France I think are more baby friendly / accept far gone mothers All the best. Just calm down, take out time to prepare for the trip and pray for the best. 4 Likes |

Aklow: I don't understand you o. The vo categorically asked you and you lied,so what advice do you need again? You were clearly told that if you use the visa for birthing ,you will be banned for 5yrs. There are no 2 ways about it,use it for birthing and face a 5yrs ban. Will advice you guys to just attend the conference your wife was invited for and come back home 5 Likes |

emeriem: My dear I will advise you travel sooner o...I had my daughter at 37 weeks so you planning to travel then is risky...just check travelstart and Wakanow... As for hospital, I didn't use Houston but I have these snapshots from the part2 of this thread so hopefully they help you out in making a decision. emeriem: try Turkish, ethiad airline or Emirates Consider leaving your daughter behind... It will make things easier for you If you are super organized you can leave two weeks after birth (I did) but not sure how that will work with a c-section- but if you can pull it off, you leave at 36 weeks, schedule your c section at 38 wks and leave two weeks after- that way you spend only a month (to do this consider leaving your toddler at home) All the best 5 Likes 1 Share |

Aklow: There's no way to go about it besides merely using the visa for the purpose for which you applied for it. According to you the VO clearly said if you use the visa for childbirth you'll be banned for 5 years. He didn't say if you use it and don't pay. Don't abuse the system. Use the visa as you stated in your application. There are no shortcuts when you lie. The people who have used the notification of intent letter didn't lie in their interview. If you read part 1 of this thread you'll see that someone had her visa revoked when you sent a notification of intent letter. |

Sometimes when God closes a door he opens a bigger one for you. You just don't know it yet. If you were denied a visa or have issues with the visa you were granted, go out of your way to do research. Below is a list of countries that grant unconditional citizenship at birth. You might just start a new trend, and it just might be cheaper, compare and make decisions and see whether USA is still the best option. All the countries below are developed countries, so their passports carry weight. Maybe not a heavy as US and Canada but they all give the same benefits to their citizens that you may or may not have here. More importantly they all have great healthcare. I'm just trying to help us think outside the box instead of insisting on USA and getting a ban which could affect applications to other countries sef. 1. Argentina 2. Belize 3. Bolivia 4. Brazil 5. Canada 6. Costa Rica 7. Dominica 8. Ecuador 9. El Salvador 10. Fiji 11. Grenada 12. Guatemala 13. Guyana 14. Honduras 15. Jamaica 16. Mexico 17. Nicaragua 18. Pakistan 19. Panama 20. Paraguay 21. Peru 22. St. Kitts and Nevis 23. St. Lucia 24. St. Vincent and the Grenadines 25. Trinidad and Tobago 26. Tuvalu 27. United States 28. Uruguay 29. Venezuela 7 Likes 1 Share |

@Emeriem, have you gotten the ticket?if no send me a PM. How old is your daughter? Remember you can't attach two infants to one adult ticket so you might want to consider leaving your daughter behind if she's under 2. 2 Likes |

Ok guys we are forgetting one very important factor. Yes we wana help suggest cheap tickets but qatar and emirates have a 9-12 hour layover on both the departure and return trips. So unless she has plans for sitting at d airport wt a baby...il suggest she thinks twice. Yes qatar has oryx lounge for travellers bt ts $100 per 3hours and is a loung wt coffee chairs and tables. NO BED! Emirtes has acoomodatiom but it on d return only and subject to no earlier departing flight for your chosen date of booking. But for somone on a budget, not sure how great ds is. Secondly, i truly think she shld leave her daughter. Like someone rightly pointed if her hubby is currently unemployed he shld aid with taking care of her. As to missing d little girl...well its either you miss her or risk debt. As per hospital oakbend and a combo of Dr F or E will help with costs. Cant giv an opinio on accomodation bcz iv nvr paid for that. Travel documents cn b ready in 3wks. Jst pay for expedited passport and naija visa. Gudluck. 4 Likes |

emeriem:I can understand how you feel. I was in the same dilemma fee weeks ago when i was about to buy my ticket. My Oga wanted me to leave my kids back in nigeria but i stood my ground because my mind wouldn't be at rest when i am in the US to have my baby. I was able to get a good deal and will be going 1st week in march. I checked your ticket and found AF and Klm for yourself and daughter 500 within the dates you wanted. The wait time is also very ok 4hrs going and about 1hr on your return leg. Best wishes in your search. |

Emeriem Give me your likely travel dates, let me check flights for you. there is no airline that will take you at 37 weeks. Please look at maximum 35weeks plus 4days. Qatar is doing one promo that Travelstart is advertising, however I advise you buy from the airline directly because adding baby to tickets plus uncertain dates can create an issue when you buy from agents. I have checked their pregnancy policy for you. The journey will be long if you go through any of the Arabian airlines but you will cut cots and they are mostly comfortable airlines. You also need to consider lay over times. At the N2.5M, will you be receiving salary while on maternity leave? if yes, it will help. Also, i suggest you put one or two people on standby to borrow you money if you need it. Think of people that won't judge you for choosing to deliver abroad. That way you will not be stranded. I understand about not leaving your child so lets just work with the budget as much as we can... I have just seen the post about Etihad's promo, NY is always the cheapest to fly to in the US from Nigeria, I suggest you buy local ticket from NY to final destination, it can help to save cost too. Try Southwest Airline, they fly first two 50pounds check in luggage free. This is the best you can get as other airlines make you pay for luggage 9 Likes |
