A Texas couple "enslaved" a nanny by repeatedly abusing her and making her work 20 hours a day without pay, authorities said.

Chudy and Sandra Nsobundu of the Houston area forced the nanny to only drink milk left in bowls that the children had used for cereal. She was also denied hot showers, the complaint said.

The caretaker, a Nigerian woman, was also forced to sleep on the floor.

The 38-year-old nanny, who was not identified, said she was promised $100 per month but has never been paid in her two years working for the Nsobundus in their Katy home and caring for their five children.

The couple also took the nanny's passport, so she was unable to leave. The nanny was "enslaved" by her employers, federal prosecutor Ruben Perez said.

"She regularly endured physical and verbal abuse and was not treated like a human being," the criminal complaint said.

The nanny would work every day from 5:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. without breaks and had to eat leftovers, according to the complaint.

Sandra Nsobundu would hit her repeatedly if she thought the nanny was not performing her duties. She allegedly struck the nanny in the face with a slipper and and threatened to "shoot her and kill her" after being displeased with the socks the woman placed on one of children.

The nanny was rescued in October after a tip was made to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center.

The Nsobundus were charged with forced labor, withholding documents, conspiracy to harbor an illegal immigrant and visa fraud. The couple, who made their first court appearance on Tuesday, face up to 20 years in prison.

But some people in the earlier thread said the whole brouhaha is just mere accusation and that they may escape conviction........
This one that the woman is already in prison uniform and in chains, yet they never sentence them.
Nigerians abroad should simply heed the advice of aribisala on the other thread......what u cannot finish, don't start.

And lalastica.....pls front page
help Nigerians both home and abroad know that crime doesn't pay.....
If u can't do the time.....then don't do the crime.

the nanny must have plenty scars of injuries inflicted on her by the woman to warrant her being in chains and orange jumpsuits

If not that these heartless criminals were apprehended they would be amongst those updating their Facebook and social media pages shouting
I'm not a criminal.....

Abeg wailer is that Handcuffs I see on them, aren't they suppose to be innocent until proven guilty or is it only Olisa Metuh that such description fits.
