@ Emeriem, I totally understand u. Am not saying the advices other mothers are giving u are wrong but we all know how it is. Different mothers different hearts. Kids are not easy but mom's love for their kids is anoda ball game.
Personally, I am the type that cannot leave my children 4 that long even for one million dollars. My heart will never be at rest cos no one can take care of my child the way I will. The last thing I want is bothering my head with 'who knows what is going on with my kids'. My husband is no go area. Leaves in d morning, comes back at night plus travels occassionally. Personally, I insisted that if I don't travel with the kids then I will cancel the trip. Thats why I am going with them and my mum.
If u or any oda mum is going to elpaso btw feb and april while I am there and staying at intown suites. Maybe we can baby sit at a FEE but something cheaper than taking to day care etc. Not a GUARANTEE but DOABLE. As long as our schedules don't clash.
My kids happens to like playing too much self so will have play mates and study mates.
Also, if u trust leaving ur kids with someone u just met.
I will personally need babysitting, the day I will give birth since I will like my mum to be with me in d labour room.
Thats my contribution.
Good morning peeps....

I used Form A to pay for part of my fees in El Paso. Used Stanbic IBTC. Process was very fast. Deduction from my naira funded account was made the same day I requested. Hospital confirmed payment the next day. Rate used was 199.5. The only caveat at Stanbic is to make the request, fill the form, provide documentation and all before 3pm. Anything after 3pm means the transaction will be delayed till the next day.

Documentation needed to get Form A approval from Stanbic.

1. Invoice from Hospital clearly detailing cost of treatment.
2. Local Doctor's Referral Letter (not medical report)
3. Travel Documents.
a. Photocopy of visa page
b. Flight ticket
c. Passport data page

N.b, the referral letter can be back dated, if mum to be is already in the states.

Hope this helps.

No dear. The naira may be officially devalued eventually. the implication is that even PTA will be more expensive....

Find someone that is trustworthy in the US and start sending him or her the maximum allowable limit in dollars. they can keep for you or pay into your US account if you have one. I hear its about 210 per dollar. You will have to queue though...this one too is tough but my Yoruba people will say 'ati okere ni oloju jinjin ti mu ekun sun'.

You'd better be smart about it or hubby will take you to the hospital where he was born...i hope e no be villa sha...lol

Thanks for ur advice dear. But for some reason I find the last part of your post offensive. I don't take in easily to jokes like that. I don't find it amusing probably u mearnt no harm but I find it disrespectful.

As at yesterday, FirstBank is 320 to a dollar. My own little contribution to the house, for those still traveling, find ways to book for moneygram or Western Union, with the charges, moneygram is about 218 while Western Union is about 220, limit for Western Union is 190,000 moneygram 198000 which is better but both are still the best compared to black market. All the best

Another thing, I checked CBN website and there is nothing about form A being stopped. Just that they said it would be stopped soon. Abeg start calling everyone you know that may be in the u.s studying. What I did of recent was get a student there whose school fee was due to be paid, I paid for the school fees through form A, was charged 200 rate, and the money was sent to my sister there by the person. But the clause is that it has to be someone you trust, except u r willing to take some risks. The person can also pay it into your dor m account here in naija.

I was actually suggesting that they find other mums with toddlers and babysit for each other, not for a fee.

I.e you take care of my child while I go to my doctors appointments and maybe shopping or even do some cooking and I do same for you. In the event of labour hopefully same will apply. That's my plan with my friend and the idea is to cut costs of daycare and babysitters.

The idea of charging another mother in the same shoes is not so fair because we know were the shoe dey pinch, we are all from naija. We can all see dollar rate rising, every mum in this season has to be penny and pound wise. Find a friend hopefully on this forum or ask around. If you can find a RELIABLE flatmate, better for you both sef.

Let's try to be our sisters keepers biko. I know it's difficult but these are trying timessage for us all. We need all the help and information we can get right now. If e hard you, do it for God.

Hello House and Good spirited Nigerians,

I am a newbie on this section..I can see people are very helpful here in answering questions.I am thinking my wifey should go have her delivery in the US though EDD is still more than 5 months away. However,I have a few questions and i will appreciate the experienced mommies and daddies in the house to help:

1.Apart from Elpaso which I got to know on this forum, is there any cheaper hospital to give birth in the US? We do not have any relative in US and my wifey will probably stay in a rented apartment during her stay.
2.At what time should one start the visa application process?
3.How many month's account statement is required at the embassy.
4.I have read and learnt on this forum but any other information or advise will be appreciated.

Thanks everyone, God bless you all.
