Disturb by the continued gruesome killing of pro-Biafra agitators by security agents, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor, the Anglican Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Nnewi, Anambra State, has counselled President Buhari to send the security agents for further training on the management of civil protests and conflict resolution.

His words[b]: “I think some of our security outfits need to be trained on how to handle situations of protests. You don’t just shoot guns at the slightest provocation if there is any at all.

“That’s my take on it and I know a lot of persons may not be comfortable with it but the truth must be told. The South Easterners need to be given their right place in our country, if not, let us go for a referendum; let’s decide if we still want to remain one Nigeria.
“The time to say the blatant truth has come. Now we’re talking about IPOB; you can also see another demonstration coming up from the Christian community. I’m just pre-empting it.

“How can you just go and enlist us as a member of Arab League and tell us that we should now join our brother Arab nations to fight ISIS. Nigeria is not an Arab nation.
“We’re not a Muslim nation. We should not pretend any longer. The time to tell the leadership of this country that things need to be done right has come.
“Concerning the IPOB and MASSOB demonstration, I want to make it clear to Nigerians beginning from our leaders. You can hold a people to ransom for a long time but not all the time. Let’s be frank. I am a religious leader and we must tell the truth.”

Buhari please thread softly softly. The discontent is gradually spreading. Since watching the video about that Aba senseless shooting I am beginning to lose hope in Nigeria. I'm sure it is same with many Igbos. I hope that it doesnt reach the level when all of us will have to join IPOB. Whether you like it or not, the treatment meted to them tells us much about how we are viewed. And if worse becomes worst, a people with pride will always choose to die on their feet than to live on their knees.

Man of God.

Do not preach such one-sided news.

Your congregation are subject to you and the political climate of Nigeria needs dousing not fire.

I think Mbaka exploits and the results is enough to warn Men of God off the murky waters of politics.

I don't think hinting support towards the separation of the countries is a positive reaction. Granted it's a valid cause for the agitators, men like him should steer a middle course.

U are just saying your own opinion. Bishop said he rejects being in Arab league and illegal killing of unarmed protesters. He has not said anything wrong.
Well, he's my choice minister. I bought 15 of his monthly prayer breakfast messages the last time I traveled to Awka. U better listen to men like him and leave all these your Lagos sugar-coated tongue, business preachers to save urself from the impending wrath of God.
