How economic friendly is concrete road

Can last on heavy duty?
Is it cheaper than tarred road?

advantages of concrete based roads:

Areas paved with asphalt require more maintenance than those paved with
concrete. As a result, there is less need for repair crews to handle maintenance
of concrete streets and parking lots. This means less congestion and disruption
to work areas, and less danger to road crews and drivers alike.
Rigid concrete is also more durable than asphalt. This means that streets
paved with concrete are less likely to have potholes. The surface of concrete is
also better at preventing automobile skidding, keeping drivers and their families
safe.

also, Concrete pavement's life can range anywhere from 20-40 years. But when you
factor in annual maintenance, asphalt pavement can cost four to seven times as
much money to maintain. This saves you long-term on repair and maintenance.

I AM NOT AN ENGINEER OOO ... But when they were changing BRT lanes to concrete the rods looked fatter. And interwoven , this one looks like kitchen net iron lol , hope they doing a professional job sha m

ANYWAY. I don't believe roads are what any Nigerian state really needs now , we need industries ! Where are the industries
.
I constructed roads shouldn't be an achivemenf in Nigeria 16+ years of democracy

Provided it is done by the right ppl with the right materials and right mixtures. Concrete roads are the best. Dangote once advocated for this during obj tenure. There is one concrete road in Ghana constructed by nkruma in the 60s and up till today it is still there very strong and durable

That is what you get when you have a civil engineer as governor. You must do his projects to meet his taste

This man has proved his critics wrong. He is indeed one of the best performing governors in the country now. I have seen with my eyes. May God continue to strengthen him and give him more wisdom.

Good observation.. I also think it would have been better using concrete interlocking tiles than continuous pour like this.
Anyway both methods are better and cost effective than the asphalt types since most of the coal tars are currently imported

Oga Erico, Eng Dave Umahi is not using any contractors rather he uses direct labour, there's nothing like warding any project to any contractors in Ebonyi state. If he says this road will be constructed or rehabilitate today or tomorrow as earlier as 8pm that work will start immediately.
Ebonyi has been transformed before our very eyes, I'm only waiting for him to complete most of the heavy projects like flyovers, pedestrian crossing and many more before I will surprise the whole Nigerians.
Please Ebonyians in this forum living in Ebonyi state should start taking pictures of the good works going on in the state.

lol!
whats d difference btw a road and a pavement?
for ur notice there are 3types of pavements
1 rigid pavemet(which is d road above)
2 flexible pavement...normal asphalt road
3 hybrid pavement.which a combination of 1&2
finally for rigid pavements, considering live loads(axle load),there is virtually no need for "the thick rods" u mentioned, what is important is d grade of d concrete and fo d base material meets at least 70 to 90 percent of d "cbr" value, which ofcos it should.

O boy! this road is strong O! see pavement.
It is strong? And you know this how? Let us talk as if we went to school. Strength can actually be measured as in the minimum amount of force per unit area required to break the concrete . It is not a matter of "see pavement" in villager marvel mode. So if we say the road is strong we can actually give a measurement in PSI or MPA units

I dont think so guy because I read somewhere where umahi complained about slow pace of work on the nkalagu rd(road that leads to the cement factory) which is actually a federal rd..from the article he was rebuking a Chinese company..i dont think a Chinese company in ebonyi is direct labour
