HaneefahRN: You don't seem to have gotten the context I based my comment on. Try and read the post I quoted again and know why I made that comment. But you are wrong dear. EVeryone in the health sector is important but not equally. Doctors can easily do what Nurses do but definitely not while on the ward working as a doctor and can very well dispense drugs like a pharmacist does. Most of the lab procedures are well taught in medical school. In fact, we have had to reject some result interpretations as brought from laboratories on many occasions. JOHESU don't only cry when they want to go on strike. They also cry on the wards, in the form of Nurses just to show their deep seated hatred and jealousy 2 Likes |

AreaFada2: Are Nigerian Doctors well paid? Can Johesu seek what they need without asking about how much DOctors earn? Should admin staff in hospitals expect better pay than admin staff elsewhere just because they work within the same walls as Doctors? WHat is wrong is having these people compare themselves with Dr.s all the time. It doesn,t make sense. The jealousy is debilitating and affects how we do our job. 3 Likes |

Lol. Nd for the MD'S saying doctors and 'paramedics' should never earn the same thing. Jokes on you. Your benefits pales to the benefits pharmacists gets in agencies like NAFDAC. |

lolaed:God bless you. Though I disagree with some of your assertions. I know very commited lab scientists, pharmacists, nurses and more that take their work seriously. Its not all of them. There are also drs that are terrible with their jobs too so lets not go down that line. That aside, The funny thing is there is even a whole lot of dis unity within their unionism that d public isn't even aware of. Or u think medical lab scientists won't protest about salary increase if the salaries of lab technicians starts getting closer to theirs? |
Re: JOHESU To Embark On Nationwide Strike by DrAdonis: 11:27am On Feb 18, 2016 |
gearcoin: Call allowance is paid per call. So the more calls you do, the higher your pay. Doctors get a stipend for call allowance even at that. Don't let people feed you with all sorts of info, learn to dig the truth yourself. Have a nice day, thanks. |

just like hnd/bsc issue, until other paramedics are good enough to be minister for health, hnd holders for education, Nigeria can never get it right in these two sectors. Those always at the point of policy making are doctors and bsc holders only, tell me why or how any of their action would not be perceived to be biased either rightly or wrongly by the victims. |

sarzy: Yh, there are cases of negligence in Nigeria and in every part of the world. There are also many Nigerian doctors who work hard and are full of empathy and compassion but nobody talks about them in the news or elsewhere. It is only when a case of supposed negligence is raised (which may be true or just mischief) that everyone withdraws his/her axe and begin to ax all docs, including those who are selfless. 1 Like |

What's wt d jealousy, nt everyone is interested in being called Dr, I myt be jealous of d money sha. Most nurses I knw work well wt Drs unless d Dr starts being arrogant, like some tht sees every other professional as inferior, u probably av tht attitude too. I work in environments where Drs and nurses relate very well, only the arrogant ones claim some pple are being jealous or whatever. U dnt expect to treat someone like dirt and tht person wld smile at u? I dnt always support Johesu bt I support tht d maginalization shld stop. I think they shld ask for what they want wtout bringing Drs in, bt Drs av brought themslves in already. Johesu asked for skipping 10 wc is normal and has been won, Drs say the govt must nt cos it'll affect relativity, while they start off from 13, then u claim Johesu is selfish, jealous and want to compare themselves wt Drs, who are d selfish ones here? There shld be an overhaul and all unions brought together to table to trash things out and resolve issues, d insanity is getting too much and productivity is affected. 3 Likes 1 Share |

DrAdonis: Brother, you are very correct, objective and mature. (Unlike datigbogirl). But the thing is this: when you do what you are expected to do, it shouldn't make news. Only law breaking events should make news. The only time doing the right thing should make news is when it becomes extraordinary. If you practise your medicine the way it should be, without being negligent; no one should blow any trumpet about it. We are humans, not animals; hence we are expected to do the right thing. Do you know why some people still think GEJ should be praised for conceding defeat? Because he simply did the right thing. And it happens in every sector, not only in medicine. When any civil servant keeps doing right things, no one makes noise. If a catholic priest is found in a hotel with on slut now, do you know it can make global headlines? But how many times has it made headlines that a priest lived his entire life as a celibate? Personally, I have met good Nigerian doctors and people appreciate and talk about them. It doesn't have to become news. But I have been to hospitals within Nigeria and abroad. I can assure you that negligence in Nigeria hospitals in more than in other countries- as least, the ones I have visited. 2 Likes |

HaneefahRN: You're intelligent so don't do this. The problem graduate nurses have in Nigeria is mainly from the leaders of your professional body who started their careers without degrees. They're the ones in antagonism of service improvement for graduate nurses because they feel "these small children will start earning close to our salary now and start doing shakara". 2 Likes |

HaneefahRN:No. They can't do it. And I am saying this from experience . I remember the case of a Matron who was asking a HO to administer an antihypertensive to a stroke patient with high BP. Of course to her, the BP had to come down. But,a medical Dr knows that the high BP was important in keeping that particular pt alive. This I-also-know syndrome in Nurses in needs to be curbed. Everyone should understand their boundaries and stay at their own lane. I know u hate or dislike nurses cos u seem to bring them up often. U dnt expect to treat someone like dirt and tht person wld smile at u?I work well with respectable nurses but I ensure boundaries when their attitude start to affect my job.I don't hate nurses. Maybe some like you have a good self esteem but some others would rather be called Doctors.
Of course, boundaries exist in the world for a purpose. But nobody should go about acting like we are the reason for their problems. Accept what your profession or level offers and have contentment or go get higher degrees. It is the simple truth. The solution would be for the government to outsource the other Johesu members apart from the Nurses. 1 Like |

lolaed: True that any incessant disagreement is bad for heath care delivery. Doctors are also not paid that well compared to many countries. But see it this way too. It is also in doctors' interest that everyone gets a fair pay, including JOHESU. But naturally, human wants are insatiable. I guess the bad blood stems from the perception that doctor influence healthcare pay to their own advantage. Here in UK, junior doctors do most of the work. Consultants are very few around during odd hours & weekend. Yet junior docs payment is fairly low. Still, a house officer gets £30k just starting off and a nurse gets about £23/25k starting off. Some so called junior doctors (with up to 15 years postgrad experience & registrar level) get up to 45/50k or more per year. But striking now sometimes for more pay. 1 Like |

lolaed:You're a dolt and don't take it as an insult because it is what you really are. That being said I'll correct some few assertions in the interest of the public. B. SC nurses are part of JOHESU. Nd the fact that you don't get the reason for the agitation has nullified every other point you've tried to make. Johesu isn't agitating for the same pay as doctors. They want relativity to be mantained and the margin gap reduced to what it was. Now you call other professionals mediocre for joining forces with mere lab technicians and the rest.. There was once relative unity in the health sector until doctors decided to form the nma with dentist to push for better pay and welfare effectively ignoring other members of the healthcare team. Now they chose to join forces and ensure every other person is duly represented and that's an issue for you. You see your god complex reeks from the hight heavens thinking you're better than everyone else and anything but you is sub. Another point you raised is pharmacists just dispense drugs. Yes. PHARMACIST WORKING IN HOSPITALS DISPENSE medicines but when they decided to do something about it by running the pharm. D programme that makes their practise much more clinically oriented. Who kicked against it? DOCTORS. So shut your hypocritical mouth and take the clog off your eyes. See you vibrating and spitting venom like you're making sense. Smh 3 Likes |

francizy:They have a point though I mean most of them went to school for four years just like other civil servants while we did 6 years (some 8 sef EY things) so why shouldn't they skip grade 10 i mean they are more important than other civil servants na, imagine a whole Biochemist after Four long years of school being compared to an ordinary Mass communication graduate, why should they be on the same level why should they when they both did 4 years in Uni who are these ones to compare themselves with the almighty JOHESU abeg make Una increase their money jare and even those my strong nurses who insult me every time I tell them to attend to a patient please increase theirs too what rubbish! How dare you people allow them to be in level 10 if possible skip to level 13 sef can you imagine nonsense. After 4 years Sarcasm |
