On the form the question is very clear... it says (MONTHLY SALARY) which is what you must state and if you do pay yourself a monthly salary from your business then i could advice you add 'em up but if you don't then state just what you earn from your civil service job.

Hello I need an advice on this please, I have a friend who went to the embassy with his wife in 2014 on B1/B2 vacation to visit a friend but was denied, he's planning to re-apply but won't be going with his wife this time around because his wife is currently pregnant and won't be travelling with him based on her condition, any advice on this, travelling alone this time around ? Thanks

Was at StanbicIBTC today and they said i can get at the normal exchange rate of N198/$1 but......

1) I have to open an account with them, (trust their process was relatively easy compared to other banks, no NEPA bill needed)
2) I have to give them a 2 weeks notice prior to when i'll be travelling (My trip is still a month or more away)
3) I have to provide them with Flight booking
4) Lastly, they must see my passport & visa while making the 2 weeks prior application for the dollars.

The good news is that i dont get to pay the 400+ exchange rate... i even asked the lady multiple times to be sure they are offering the dollars at the normal exchange rate not the parallel one with no extra charge(s) and she said yes!

So... this is useful info for others!

Most banks are selling for 199.50 it's only standard chartered that I heard that sells for 197 and a 1% commission charge

Wow..... will try my bank GTb. they just suck these days cos all they think of is how to deduct and milk you of your dear cash, i never considered them at all.... Now you said most banks sell at 199.50 will go there to whine them 1st cos you might be in a dream and GTbank has deducted half your cash only to wake up and it's real... (you can group them with MTN and Nepa #TeamIllegalBill)

@Chloe7 whats the criteria for getting it via other banks, but for the Ajose Adeogun branch of Stanbic i visisted today i specifically asked and the lady checked on her system and confirmed that they sell at 199 or so...

even LadyG got from them at 210 o the day of her travel after so much hustle, for now stanbic is the only bank selling to walk in customers, other banks are not selling to walk in customers you need to know one Oga at the top before you can get pta from other banks and also note that the amount you buy fx in the bank differs from the amount your card is being charged you are been charged a fair rate better than black market and higher than pta rate, you grab? As for stanbic their pta na 210 no shaking

MUST IT BE TWO WEEKS TO YOUR JOURNEY BEFORE MAKING THE REQUEST OR AS SOON AS YOU BUY YOUR TICKET? Nextedge pta is sold quarterly, I mean you have an allocation of 4k max per quarter and august is in third quarter so you won't be attended to till third quarter, the best advice is submit your request beginning of third quarter, cheers

yes you will wait at the airport 22 hours, if you are lucky they can offer you a one day visa abi na transit visa to get a hotel in the city and return to the airport when it's time for your flight, I haven't flown Turkish before and I don't know if they'll give you a one day visa but a 22 hour layover basically means you time btw the time you landed and the next flight is 22 hours and you have to be at the airport

April is in 2nd quarter so you can send your documents ahead in March and keep disturbing them.

I don't know if I have to encourage you or discourage you but you need to know that, that airport is no different from an upgrade MM2,keep praying for your luggage and will they provide you with meal ticket? One thing I know they will do free of charge is take you round istanbul without charging you.
Why not go through emirates and get dubai connect or through abu dhabi anyway Chicago is a tough POE you have to be smart and ready for a lot of grill. Good luck.

What US route are we looking at here if I may ask? The LOS-JFK & LOS-IAH route have good timings! Turkish Airlines offer better layover/wait times options in between flights though.
