Arsenal vs Hull City FA in the fifth round of FA Cup. Arsenal hosts Championship leaders Hull City at the Emirates Stadium in the Fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Gunners face a crucial few weeks with games in three competitions set to shape their season. With that tough Champions League match against Barcelona on Tuesday on night, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will be hoping to come through this game unscathed and may choose to rotate his squad.

The side from north London head into this clash on the back of a vital 2-1 win against title rivals Leicester City last time out. The win was the Gunners second straight victory in the Premier League after a slight dip in form.

Arsenal have a good record against Hull in recent games, having won eight of their last ten games against the Tigers in all competitions and also scoring more two or more goals in each of those meetings.

As you would expect as holders Arsenal have a good record in the FA Cup as well, winning seven of their last eight games and have scored to or more goals in eight of their last nine games in the competition.

The visitors arrive in north London in decent form. Their good recent form was rather tempered by a goalless home draw with fellow high-fliers Brighton, but Steve Bruce’s side still look good for an instant return to the top-flight following their relegation last season.

No doubt the Tigers will have prioritised their Championship campaign and Bruce like Wenger may choose to rotate his squad in this clash with vital games to come in the second tier.

The Tigers also have a decent record in this competition, as they have suffered just one defeat in their last ten outings. With a tricky trip to Ipswich in midweek though, the Tigers would not have wanted a trip to north London this weekend.

Team News

The home are without Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Santi Cazorla, while they are have doubts over the fitness of Kieran Gibbs and Brazilian centre-back Gabriel Paulista is unlikely to feature as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Wenger looks set to give some of his lesser used players a run out in this tie.

Norwegian forward Adama Diomande is the Tigers only injury concern heading into this clash, although boss Steve Bruce may decide to rest some of his regulars in this clash.

TEAM NEWS

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is expected to rest his key players with Tuesday's Barcelona match in mind.

Striker Danny Welbeck could start for the first time since last April, while January signing Mohamed Elneny is in contention for his second start.

Hull manager Steve Bruce has confirmed Nick Powell, who is on loan from Manchester United, will make his debut.

However, on-loan duo Chuba Akpom and Isaac Hayden will be ineligible to play against their parent club.

MOTD COMMENTATOR'S NOTES

John Motson: "It's been a while since Arsenal last experienced defeat in the FA Cup.

"That was three years ago to the week at the hands of Championship side Blackburn, but they have since embarked on 14 consecutive wins in the competition - just two shy of the record which they jointly hold.

"They are facing a third FA Cup meeting with Hull in three seasons so both teams know each other pretty well, but they also both have other priorities.

"Awaiting the Gunners on Tuesday are Barcelona, while on the same night the promotion-chasing Tigers travel to Ipswich in the Championship.

"Arsenal will start as favourites - as long as they are not too distracted by the impending visit of Messi and co."

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY

Hull City manager Steve Bruce on loan signing Nick Powell: "He will have a big part to play in the coming weeks. I've told him that. He's versatile and can play as a striker or as a midfielder and I'm sure he can give us that bit of impetus.

"He'll definitely play on Saturday, as will all of the ones who haven't been playing recently.

"Making changes is the only option I've got. After Arsenal, we play again on Tuesday and then Friday so I have to make sure we're fresh enough to compete in those games as well."

"Sekem" is a copyrighted word in this european soccer section on NL......

I think a certain Mukina2 uses it more and it goes with a funny pix. And this is her club in action today.
Hope she finds reasons to "Sekem" today.
