Is There Any Advantage Of Being Poor? by Mbkite(m): 2:59pm On Feb 20, 2016
I was taught back then in High school that anything that has advantage also has disadvantage.
My question is - what are the advantages of being poor?

@Mbikte,
What a funny question.
Funny enough there mght be some advantages.
Some people are alive just because they are poor. Give them money and they use it to pursue what will kill them.
With their weak characters it is better for them to stay poor until they build good character that can help them manage success.

One certain thing I know. Less worries. Have you ever experienced sudden change of level which should have given you a huge respite from poverty but you discovered you now have more things to worry about.

When you're poor you obviously take life as it comes, consequently, you do only things as its available. Hence, nothing much to ponder about. Have some change and you start thinking about how "best" to achieve some things, meanwhile there would be 1008 ways to achieve that same thing.

For instance, when you're poor, you take your wards to the only affordable school. When you're rich, you'd not only sweat to look for a "suitable" schools (even though they're in abundance) but would invest time and, sometimes, resources into doing background checks and researches on even the A-class colleges you have in mind. You know how many times some people have changed their "maiguard" even after investing in several breeds of guard dogs, yet you'd see a commoner sleeping effortlessly outside his shack, waking up the next day all-dazzling. Have you ever being caught in fuel scarcity with your vehicle, do you know how it could cripple many of your programs? Meanwhile, that so called poor person has already achieved all he needed while you're still struggling. Same goes for all activities involved in the sojourn to self-fulilment for the riches. Basically, I would say poor people somehow have rest of mind than the well-to-dos (not proven though).

However, nothing beats having that dough.

Poverty enables poor people to invent theories, quotes and principles.
The renowned theorists and famous quotations seems to come from poor people since their thought circulate around " why me" which will lead to idea formation> notations >concepts> principles> theories and the likes unlike the richmen who care more about how to increase and shortchange the system.

@Archangel,
People are rich not necessarily because they are shortchanging the system but because they are solving lots of other people's problems and they also have the character that is required to manage abundance. Poor people don't solve other people's problems and basically have not learned the character required to manage abundance. FYI, the best writers, philosophers, scientists, inventors, etc were and are not poor people.

Can't figure out any advantage of being poor. It's the worse thing that can happen to anyone. Would rather live for 5years stupendously rich than 50years in abject poverty.

Like someone had already said poverty has a way of mangling one's thought process and make them act like a dummy. It has the potency to lacerate one's ability to reason properly and would so limit and oscillate their thoughts into the direction of more misery and wretchedness.

No advantage whatsoever can be associated with poverty.

They were not poor. Other than during imprisonment did you ever read of any point in time when they lacked food, clothing, shelter or education? Those things (food, clothing, shelter and education) are a constant day to day struggle for a poor person. The fact that they (PythaSocra) chose to be contented with moderate material things did not mean they were poor.
