it shouldn't be news that algerian constitution does not allow it.

and you make it sound like the country will be the magic wand to end insurgency anywhere they are deployed.

don't forget that ambushes are still happening close to the capital and algerian government does not allow free flow of information out of the country.

Its news, none of us here knew Algerian consitutuion NO LONGER allows fighting abroad until the new man from Algeria said it today. Algerian army and air force deployed into Egypt Israeli border and fought during Arab Israeli war. Photos below...

As to magic wand and ongoing attacks, there are random terrorist attacks even in Paris and California, not only Algerian cities. Yes Algeria has the magic wand military capacity to degrade Al Shabbab to low level of Boko Haram in 6 months, current AMISOM force is struggling to cope due to lack of adequate resources.

It's heavy, it's long and carries only 20 rounds. However Air Force personnel simply love them because of it's Range, Accuracy and Stopping power.

They call the Tavor "Travor", ground-nut rounds. I don't think they like the Tavor a lot. It's unfortunate.

I completely agree. DICON should come up with a lighter version, using composites, with add-on picatinny.

Lol "groundnut rounds". 'cant say i'm suprised. The military & police force are far more conversant with the 7.62 compared to 5.56 rounds. I dont there are any Tavor rifles that chambers the former.

NNS Andoni 1, already sailing, carrying patrols and exercises

NNS Andoni 2, work is progressing, however it is way behind schedule. Hopefully it gets launched this year same as NNS Unity.

gringringringringrin...... It sure sounds like a funny sight!!

Are you Tim from Beegs Blog?

I'm surprised the Army went for the Tavor-21 for it's Airborne units, i thought they would have stuck with the Beryl.

The army airborne adopted the Tavor? Well, it's compact & a decent rifle, but the Beryl would've made far more sense due to the fact thst its being used by Army special forces (airborne is special ops capable) & it shares a considerable number of features with the basic AK-47/Type 56 currently in use by regular army units.

Silent African country with good local defence industry not making a noise about it, Ethiopia silent. I forsee Ethiopian weapons export to Uganda.
thats bcoz most Ethiopians arent online. Whatever economic model they got going, this guys have perfected the art of bieng efficient. They have negligible private sector but when it comes to govenment institutions, they have zero beaurocracy, they ran parastals like multinational companies. They are the Chinese of Africa

These trucks were made public last year march during the military parade in Ghana as part of the Independence activities. The pictures below however was taken last week when troops were enroute to enforce a curfew. Looking at the number plate it clearly indicates SF, but I have seen other units use it in other parts of the country as well as the Ghana Police Striking Force.

I think the manufucturers of this truck had the British Jackal in mind.

We know about the 12 that Ghana bought in 2014. We were talking about the 15 that I saw being loaded onto a ship bound for West Africa in Durban in Dec 2015.

Both the Jackal and the Hunter came out at about the same time. OTT based the Hunter on the old SAMIL 20 in the SA military. Also, I'm not sure if the Jackal can mount anything heavier than a 12.7mm, whereas the Hunter can mount a 14.5mm and 20mm.

How many "poorly" equipped ones have you seen?

Dont make comparative statements, it leads to conflict

But thats cool, how many poorly equipped soldiers have you seen?

Is it the same guy? The ranks look different in the pics(it could just be me though) the guy in the first pic is a major, the guy in the second pic seems to be a colonel....but what bothers me is that in the second pic the stars on his rank are horizontal, which I've never seen before, usually the stars are vertical.....anyway in the bottom pic its pretty difficult to see his rank properly, so I'm pretty sure I'm wrong.
