Storing fuel on the deck of a warship seems problematic

But hey, thats just my observation wink

Inconsequential.

If you considered applying a bit of common sense, you most likely would have figured out it was seized. You don't need to be told.

Is it the same guy? The ranks look different in the pics(it could just be me though) the guy in the first pic is a major, the guy in the second pic seems to be a colonel....but what bothers me is that in the second pic the stars on his rank are horizontal, which I've never seen before, usually the stars are vertical.....anyway in the bottom pic its pretty difficult to see his rank properly, so I'm pretty sure I'm wrong.

Not the same guy.

*Updated, this is only the second time i've seen a properly kitted SA commando.

Can you show us 1 photo of a SASF operator who's not properly kitted?
In fact, I'll make it easy: show us a regular SA soldier.

Stop, just stop. Clue: rush over to Beegeagle's blog and scrub all the other photos of your vessels with fuel stored on the deck. All armies face challenges; being defensive doesn't help. It promotes mediocrity.

Evidence provided.

Can we now go back to posting photos, maybe more South-African SF photos, here are some from Nigeria.

"Pointing out what they are makes me defensive?"........ Seems like an unfair criticism. Especially when we see that vessel (Andoni) is the same vessel(pictured below) sailing from the Eastern Naval Command to the Western Naval Command.

Pic related, same guys in the same deployment.

I've seen it online a few times, even on this very thread. What puzzles me though, is why it happens even on a spacious vessel like NNS Thunder.
Look for the pic on the Africom flickr account.

Badly enforced SOP's and Best Practices.

My best guess is that they are spending much longer at sea than the vessel was designed for and that internal storage is full of extra supplies so they need to use deck space to hold the overflow.

There are literally thousands of PICs on that account. You can post it when you get hold of it. I haven't seen it on NNS Thunder though.

The logical conclusion is, seen ships/vessels have to keep a constant presence at sea, with patrol of both the EEZs of Nigeria and Benin, to keep patrols going, vessels/ships have to stock up on gas.

School sailing boat for the Navy Algeria launched on Saturday in Gdansk Repair Shipyard Shipbuilding. It is the thousandth of a unit built by the company.
The Masted frigate will be used for training cadets of the Algerian Maritime University. The unit is 110 meters long and 14.5 meters wide. Sail surface is 3000 sq.M and is able toreach a top speed of 17 knots. It can take 222 people. The ship is named "El-Mellah", which in Arabic means "sailor".

President of the Shipbuilding and Repair yard Andrzej Wojtkiewicz said Saturday that ship launching ceremony is important not only because of the fact that it is the thousandth unit constructed in the yard. "This ceremony coincides with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of our establishment."

"Also the customer is special, because the Navy Algeria is not a client, which can be found every day, not only in Polish shipyards, but even Europe" Wojtkiewicz, added that "El-Mellah" will be regarded as the largest and fastest sailing ships in the world.

In a speech before launching Col. Driss Bouraoui the Algerian Navy said that "for several years, Algeria has been the most important Polish partner on the African market." "The ship will constitute proof of our relations, both political and economic," - said Driss.

Wojtkiewicz told PAP that the contract with the Algerians aside from the construction of the ship, also includes training future members of the crew and cadets. It will be carried out in collaboration with the Maritime Academy in Gdynia and will last six months. The President explained that as a part of the training Algerians will cruise a few weeks on its sister unit "Darze Młodzieży" in the Baltic Sea, under the supervision of Polish specialists. "The ultimate goal of the training will be an independent cruise sailing to their country," - said the President.

Due to technological reasons during the launching sailboat was without masts. Wojtkiewicz said that the construction of the unit will continue until the fall of 2016., Then training will began. In addition to the functions of the training, the sailing ship will act as a representative of Algeria taking part in competitions and international events.

An incident took place during the launching ship. It was damaged part of the ramp lookout, where people stood watching the launching of the ship. One person fell down, hit her head. She was taken to hospital.

This pic (number 1) is actually quite interesting.

The guy has an FN MAG... which is rare these days, as its been largely replaced by the SS77 (another Indigenous product cool )

I'm hopeful the NN will get to a point where these things don't happen. Especially because you guys patrol some not very peaceful waters. Right, off to walk my dog and a cold one at my local.

Can you definitively answer my question?

If you cannot provide context, then you cannot use the picture in the manner that you are.

Do you have any actual evidence that our men have equipment issues? Things like that would be extensivly outlined by the South African press.

What we see here, much like the issue with fuel on your ships decks, is you being too stubborn to concede a point.

Especially considering that you initially said our SF were poorly equipped
