Hello guys Gtb rates as at 7:00am is 301 to $1.

The bigger problem occurs when your payment fails after you have been debited. U get debited at black market rate and get refunded at official rate.

A mere $100 payment that does not go through will result in a loss of N10,000 out of a total of N30,000. It is scary!

Ecobank did that to me. GTB refunded me at their own current exchange rate so I made some extra. The refunds were for monies of items that were failed to be delivered from China, so the refund wasn't an immediate one but occurred after weeks of payment. That of GTB last occurred about four weeks ago sha. I can't say if they've been infected by the Ecobank fraud virus.

NB: With the renewed encouragement that customers should report fraudulent bank activities and illegal charges to the CBN, I suppose this can be reported too, right?

What he spent to and fro may not really matter in this context. What is important is that he did not condone wrong and fraud by his bank and he was able to make them stop the wrong and do what is right. That is satisfying in itself considering the fact that Nigerian banks are fraudulent institutions.

I still am pissed off with Ecobank seriously. Would have unleashed my vituperations and justified anger on 'em but for the fact that their mails go unanswered and they do not have an over-the-counter direct call line to their Lagos head office like GTB does in most of their branches.
