bleek147: Nobody on nairaland can guarantee the issuance of a visit visa to you. Nevertheless you'll need to confirm that your friend is a legal resident in the UK and you have to prove that he is indeed a close friend thus necessitating your proposed Visit . On the other hand you got to prove that your financial and social circumstances in Nigeria are superb to eliminate the idea of a possible recourse to public funds or overstaying |

Hello friends. Still on the statement of account thing. Apart from money from my salary as a civil servant, the one from my wife, I also intend building my account with money from a company I jointly owned with aa friend. How do I prove the authenticity of the said sources? What are the documents I needed to provide? |

Good morning all, In view of the current forex scarcity, exorbitant price of foreign currencies on the streets and the suspension of PTA by banks, is it fine to travel to the UK with no cash and rely on withdrawing cash from the ATM at the airport? In 2010 I had the ECO at the airport ask how much cash I was carrying and demanding to see the cash. However, the bank rate via gtbank naira mastercard on friday (19/02/16) was 320 naira = $1 while it was 393 naira = $1 which makes it more economical to opt for the bank rate. However am also aware of the need to show the availability of funds for the duration one's stay in the UK thus will like to seek advise from recent travellers to the UK/US/EU on nairaland. |

youseuph: You got to be paying yourself a fixed amount monthly from the company via bank transfer (not cash). On the visa form there is a clause that asks for other sources of income from friends, family, stocks, investments....In that section you write down the amount you get from your company monthly |

How about this, using Travelex...I know they give silly excuses about not having Pounds or Dollars, how about changing to Rands for example and when you get to the Heathrow airport, it'll be converted to Pounds? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by abnot: 11:19am On Feb 22, 2016 |
FetchUK: is that possible? Cause I heard that most times these peeps claim to have run out of forex and am avoiding a situation where i'll have naira that I cant change or will be forced to change at the black market whose rates are not favorable |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by FetchUK: 11:45am On Feb 22, 2016 |
abnot:Well I'll be willing to posit it may be possible with non £/$ currencies, or what do you think? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by youseuph(m): 1:19pm On Feb 22, 2016 |
abnot: Ok thanks. But must it be monthly pay. What of if I make it weekly cos I may not have enough time to build the account adequately before the time I am supposed to apply for the visa. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by abnot: 1:42pm On Feb 22, 2016 |
youseuph: You'll need to do this for six months to be able to achieve a healthy bank account . Doing this for a few weeks will most likely attract a rejection except your salary as a civil servant is good enough at a level that the total cost of your proposed trip will not exceed your two months salary |

wearnfit: Upon receipt of your documents, The Embassy sends ur bank statements to the Fraud department at the BDHC for verification Scanned copy of the first and last page of ur statement of account you submitted will be sent via email to your bank head office in Lagos to confirm the authenticity, The head office will now forward the scanned copies to their branch office to confirm if they actually issued the statement of account. The funny thing is just that most applications doesn't even get to that stage of verification before they reach their conclusion. To ur question about banks disclosing ur balance to third party, The embassy is no more a third party, If you don't want ur balance disclosed, why did you submit your statement of account to them Lol 3 Likes 1 Share |

abnot:@ abnot, pls what is the implication of paying 'yourself' in cash and not thru 'bank transfer'? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by worry359(m): 1:34pm On Feb 23, 2016 |
nwank85: The implication is that you have no records of where the money came from. With no records the visa officer can not check if the money is really available for your trip. So very probably a rejection. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by youseuph(m): 1:48pm On Feb 23, 2016 |
worry359: What of if make the payment using the company's cheque? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by abnot: 2:00pm On Feb 23, 2016 |
nwank85: Normally in this era payment of salaries/allowances via cash is very vague as bank electronic transfer is the norm creating room for verification of the source of the money and thereabout. Regarding the UK visa, one route most illegal immigrants have used in entering UK is via the visit visa whereby they overstay the visa's duration. Consequently, entry clearance officers are usually very strict with the financial part of visa applications especially from third world countries like Nigeria. It is believed and a known fact that with a good economic situation, an applicant is not likely to immigrate to the UK illegally via a visit visa |

youseuph: As far as the company name is displayed on your bank statement as the source of the funds and it is consistent (for instance transfer is made on the fourth week of every month consistently for 6 months or more). |

Hello House, Please Im currently about to finalise my uk application, however I'll like to know what rate I will be charged. Will it be official or will depend on the Bank card I will be using? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by kay1one2(m): 2:40pm On Feb 23, 2016 |
Have paper evidence of cash payments into your account. For mine I had both cheque and cash payments. Cash was for extra shifts. I explained all this with payslips as evidence and wasn't a problem eventually. |

please wait for about six months or one year before you re apply and revise your budget to be about less than 2x your disposable income if you revise it immediately they will refuse immediately for giving different cost for the trip with same circumstances |

bertv66: You or your friend should not bother reapplying at this time because the ECO's decision won't change. Work on your finances. The ECO is magnanimous and doesn't want you to go bankrupt. |

abnot:Thanks for your prompt response. The institution I am working with doesn't issue pay slip to their employees, I am thinking that if payslips are not issued, how will I proof to the embassy that my employer pay tax and also is it possible for the total deduction of one's income to be a rounded number amount, like #15,000? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by abnot: 9:34am On Feb 24, 2016 |
nwank85: Submit the bank statement where your salary is deposited into. Asterik all monthly salary payments on the bank statement and then write a comment regarding the absence of your payslips in the additional information section on the application form and all state that you have highlighted your monthly income from your source of employment on your bank statement. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by abnot: 9:43am On Feb 24, 2016 |
bertv66: Man your salary is more than enough ; I wonder why peeps are saying your finances arent good enough. I earn £150 less than you and applied with a bank balance of about £2700 and still got issued the 2 year c-visit visa early this month. Try and reduce your budget . That £1800 is too much considering your income. Come up with a more realist budget of like £1000 and reduce your monthly cost of living to like £163. Also reduce the amount of days you plan to stay to 8 days. Book a hostel rather than a hotel. You should be able to find a hostel that will cost about £180 for 8 days (which sorts out your accommodation), you should be able to get a £620 flight from accra (TAP portugal or Royal air maroc) and budget £250 for miscellaneous. Also list out the activities your plan to undertake on a separate paper during your stay in UK. |

abnot: 1. Somebody should please throw some light on the above especially the bolden part? 2. Can't one show MasterCard as BTA? Must it be cash? 3. Also, is it wise to go with other currency like Ryand as against naira knowing fully that d exchange rate of ryand to pound will b stable couple with d fact that u can easily buy ryand from Travelex (MMA) at official price |
