Why not? Is it possible? If you are a christian are gonna buy your tomatoes, meat from only christians? How possible. Of you are a muslim are you gonna buy ur clothes, car spare parts from only Muslims? How possible. Lets be civil and accommodating. The world was created by God and he put all in here for a reason. Being a religious bigot when its convenient is deceitful. We should and must accept and respect each others beliefs to co-exist.

The OP is subtly and deceptively persuasive but nevertheless contains implications that are wrong...Christians are those who believe Jesus and been baptized in the name of the Father, Son and the HolyGhost (Mark 16:15-16) and through this have attained eternal life but those who do not believe in the Son, Jesus Christ are CONDEMNED ALREADY and the scriptures are clear on this:

John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: BUT HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT IS CONDEMNED ALREADY, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Our flawed definition of love has beclouded many into thinking it means ABSOLUTE ASSOCIATION! Some confused Christians will say "love the homosexuals, let them practice what they do, let them be, let them worship with you as homosexuals, let them remain what they have chosen to be and let everyone be what he has chosen to be, do not make anyone look bad, rather condone and tolerate their badness and associate with them" and by these confused assertions they populate the church with people who seek their satisfaction as against the pleasure of God!

Christ loved the world but hate their sin and came for the purpose of dealing with sin! The wages of sin is death! So whether you like it or not, if you sin, you will die. This is not the judgement of man but that of God himself. So warning a sinner that if he continues in sin he will die does not amount to judging him rather it amounts to doing the bidding of God himself as dictated to Ezekiel in Ezekiel 3:18.

So to love a sinner means, praying for him to change his ways, it means to warn the sinner of his impending destruction, it means to criticize his failure that is not favored by God, it means to paralyze the sinner with prayers when his energy is biased towards committing sin and it means to encourage the converted sinner with prayers that strengthen him in the faith...

To love, is to be like God for God is love 1 John 4:7-8 and does God condone our differences particularly when they are not in alignment with his will? Though God makes his benevolence come on the just and unjust (Matthew 5:45) yet he wants us all to be as perfect as he is (Matthew 5: 48), perfect in holiness, perfect in righteousness, perfect in power, perfect in grace, perfect in beauty, perfect in glory and perfect in love!

To be a man of love is not to be a man of benevolent emotion or mere sacrifice but rather to be a man of God...for God is love!

I had a discussion with a Muslim faithful the other day and i must confess,if one is not strong in Christlike love, those people does not deserve a Christian's friendship or acts of love because what must of them have for Christian and Christianity is loathing

imagine the Muslim man telling me,their Qur'an says only muslims will make heaven and the rest of all mankind who are not Muslims are losers? like really? such warped mentality

those people have been greatly scammed by the Arabians that brought them this religion..

that's said, did anyone notice how they quickly denied bokoharam when they started destroying and killing their fellow Muslims? did this savages deny them when they started with killing Christians and attacking churches only?

now imagine the Muslim topics even here on Nairaland,a christian can't comment yet they have a free access to comment on christian threads to spew bile.... seun needs to explain this

all said, tolerance is all we need to show them not love.. undecided

Actually, Christians say worse about Muslims.
Ever heard of Islamophobia?

After all said and done, I practice love, Religion has obviously not helped mankind one bit.

As Christians, we ought to live for Christ. For when Christ was here on earth He lived a righteous life. Let not the things which you have done in the past weigh u down. The Bible made it clear in the book of Romans 3vs23 that "for all have sinned, and come short of the Glory of God." This implies that every Christian was once a sinner, but now we are born into Christ so we ought to manifest Him. Before we manifest Him, we have to let go of our doubt and fear. God bless you!

A true christian can but a hypocrite can't.
Christianity - way of life like Jesus.
Jesus taught love
He brought love
Jesus is love.
A christian who doesn't love is not a christian.
Honestly, the prejudice against other faiths is not easy to put behind you. But at the end love conquers all.

As a Christian, you're supposed to be nice to ALL, and genuinely care for as many you come across. Friendship breaks all barriers, true friendship anyway, regardless of what faith the other party professes.

Yes we can and, in fact, should on the basis of love your neighbour and even enemies as Jesus would. BUT we won't compromise our faith in the process.

In a country like Nigeria, most of us if not all, it's impossible to go a week, a day even, without interacting with someone from a different faith or of no faith at all. Whether it's a Mosque near our work or a sign for opposite faith inscription in what we buy in the ermarket, we're constantly reminded of the multi-faith society that we live in. More than just coming across people of different faiths, a lot of Christians will have friends who pray to and believe in different gods too.

But is it possible to be their good friend?

As Christians, it's not our place to judge but to love. Jesus shows us throughout the Bible the inclusivity of his love, and that's how our practice of Christianity should be. Jesus chose to spend his time with all different types of people (Luke 19:1-10). He didn't shut himself off from those who did not believe he was the Son of God and neither should we.

It's undeniable that there are common values and ideas between different faiths. And maintaining friendships with non-Christians can cause us to positively re-examine our own commitment to God. We need look no further than Christians observing Ramadan and Salah for an example of this.

Having friends of different faiths also provides us with innumerable opportunities to share the good news of God's love for us, bear witness to Jesus and introduce people to Christ. But there is no need for us to aggressively attempt to convert our friends of Muslim, atheist or any other faith to Christianity. "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect," (1 Peter 3:15). The thought of discussing our faith with our friends can fill some of us with dread, but this verse is a source of encouragement. Here we find advice on how we can approach these types of conversations and a reminder that gentleness and respect is vital when doing so.

There are many differences between Islam and Christianity, and Christianity and Judaism, but there are similarities too. However, these areas of common ground, whatever they may be, should not be the driving force behind our friendships. Instead, remembering that love is central to Christianity is the way that we can really assess the validity of our inter-faith friendships.

Yes we can and, in fact, should on the basis of

what makes you think christianity is the way??

what makes you think islam is not??

we are brought up with beliefs that was passed on to our fathers and their fathers..

OP would have been a sango worshipper if he's from a sango lineage...

in a way, your write-up depicts tribalism and stigmatisation..

one is not sure what the right way is unless jesus christ or mohammed themselves show up..

just make friends, show love, take time to cherish people irrespective of their religion or belief
God just have mercy!!

in other news, i have a middle-aged woman who is ready to relocate to abuja, lagos or PH so far there is accomodation. she helps to babysit, take care of old people and she goes on errands..

she has a police affidavit.. so, you need not be afraid of kidnapping and other crimes..
