millionaireman: A disunited house cannot agree on anything. For the South to standup to the North and insist on fiscal federalism or regional government, the Igbos and yorubas and SS minorities need to speak in one voice. I know it will be difficult to persuade the Lagos yorubas to agree on regionalism, but atleast fiscal federalism should appeal to them. They stand to gain alot from their ports like most of us in the SS will gain from our oil and ports. They need not fear about losing some monopoly as in the end it still equals out through the gains. |

millionaireman: Igbos are our cousins, but truth be told, Igbos aren't doing magnificently politically in Nigeria. If Igbos were well-placed politically, the secession cry would not arise. If your saying Igbos are responsible for the 13% derivation, then you're quite insincere. The SS governors pushed for this particularly Odili, Igbinedion, Alamieyeseigha and Ibori. The Igbos expectedly lent their voice but should not ask for more than their due credit. |

One of the dividends of a united Ohaneze. Igbos needed a common voice to state their position on the IPOB nonsense and our position is now open. We remain part and parcel of a united Nigeria and will continue to contribute our quota to nation building. All those GEJ's supporters still bitter about their loss should commit suicide or join the moving train. |

HopeAtHand: Fiscal federalism is more or less restricted to independent income and expenditure. Partial federalism will sell better and then gradually we can talk of true federalism which involves most areas of governance outside defence which must be unitary and central. The partial federalism should be based on the 36 State structure for a peaceful take off. Voluntary merger of States should be allowed by loosening the constitutional requirements a bit. |

Ohaneze Ndiigbo is simply playing to the gallery. You don't expect them to say no to one Nigeria, Ndiigbo had never said no to one Nigeria, we simply said no to the Arewa-Odua fancied one Nigeria. Our position had always been and remain a completely restructured Nigeria where each region is 100% independent of the next region and have 100% or there about control over its resources and affairs. That have never changed till now, that was a Nigeria Ojukwu demanded, and that is the only Nigeria that will stop Igbo demand for secession, everything else is waste of time. I am sure Ohanaeze and their Arewa guests are well aware of this. 3 Likes |

HopeAtHand: Last CONFAB, South west refused fiscal federalism, but instead asked for regional government system. That's the stance of the south west today. But regional government system without fiscal federalism is worse than what we have today. Even the southwest has most of its politicians now in alliance with the north, with the plan to be exchanging the office of the presidency between the two sides. Seems you don't even update yourself with realities, as narrow mindedness makes you feel that distancing your south south from Igbo is good for you. Doing that makes you lose more and more in Nigeria's political space. As for how 13% for derivation came to be: go and ask Peter Odili. When Ikemba Ojukwu died, Odili openly announced that Ikemba Ojukwu was instrumental in the 13% derivation payment to mineral producing states. Some of you in the south south hardly understand that without the Igbo, rest of Nigeria shall swallow your south south overnight. |

Marcelini: Tell them. Tell those that foolishly believe that Biafra is about Igbos getting access to south south Oyel. Some sophisticated southwest people use that argument to deceive some gullible minds in the south south. Little did they know that the most rich countries of the world today have no crude oil. Some of these rich countries are also landlocked. |

totit: **** Wtf in any of my comment is implementing anything is good? Nothing on any of my comment suggested, hinted or even prompted that Arewa visiting others to beg for continuation of one Nigeria is good, decent or okay. My comment regarding Una is to answer one commenters question why they excluded Una in their kumbaya building journey. The answer was simple. You've always been their docile @ss in the south and they know this shit. After all, when they hinted of breaking up and creating Arewa republic, **** |
