I have met so many Jamaicans in the UK, Canada, US e.t.c and they all claim to be from Ghana, not igbo or Nigeria.

that is far from the truth. maybe 3-4 percent of the descendants of slaves are from the Ibo tribe. majority are Akans from Ghana. few percentage (around 3-4% are Yoruba

I've been there several times. majority of what you read online are not true. Jamaicans of African origin are predominantly Akans from Ghana

Im not sure about any other tribal influences on Cuba but there is definitely yoruba influences there...as well as in the other Caribbean islands...like Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, etc. Of course also a large influence in South America too. The cultural traces are evident in religion (Santeria), music & dance, language, food, etc.
The impact that african cultures had in the west is undeniable and contributes beautifully to the traditions of many nations.

Thank you but I don't need to look for them as I'm already positive they exist. I'm just making specific mention of yoruba because that was the topic but I intentionally said 'african cultures' (plural tense...meaning more than one, correct?) to show that not only one culture from africa left it's fingerprint in other lands.

I don't know about Yoruba influences in the DR. And one could argue that Benin the country has had the biggest influence on Haitian culture, especially when it comes to spiritual practices like Voodoo.

So true...it actually would be difficult to narrow it down to any specific culture because in truth the african practices where masked against the conquistadors and such. But either way, being Puerto Rican, I always love learning more about my culture and the richness in its diversity. Especially the Carribean cultures.

I'm Nigerian, just that I'm based in Spain so I've grown accustomed to speaking the language. I'm not 100% fluent yet but I'm getting there.

(Cuban migration to the US is usually seen in the image of caucasian Cubans. There has always seemed to be very little black Cuban migration. While there are black Cuban Americans - especially in Florida - they tend not to be as prominent and as visible as the caucasian ones).

Have you been to Brasil? I will like to visit there, specifically the area where I hear has the most African/Yoruba descendants, Bahia.

About Cuba, it is very obvious from the mentality of the descendants of those slaveowners, like Paul Rubio, Gloria Estefan, Diaz-Balart, Ros-Lehtinen and all the Cubans whose White parents ran away from Castro's economic redistribution that they think they were born to rule the Black people in their former country. They even still set themselves apart from other Latinos in America - always right-wing and anti-equality for all. But always looking for special treatment for their people. I remember Gloria Estefan chastising Black Americans for planning to boycott an awards show years ago because Blacks were not represented, and of the Floridan Cubanos opposed to the Haitians getting refugee status similar to what the Cubans have always gotten under US immigration. They're jerks, to be honest. And the other Latinos here see them as such.

They are mostly blacks at about over 60% , but they are in a society where they are filled with so much inferiority complex that they consider themselves "white".
