Well, most Phd programs require GRE as minimum. There are few occasions where a particular department waive or doesn't required it. And this can be from every other field including science.

Well said! I have read on some grad schools websites that it is not a major requirement for them, unless the intended dept requires it.

Imperiouxx, I sent you a pm. Pls kindly respond to it when you are less busy.

hello house..i have been a silent follower in a while now.sincerely i dont know much but really want to be enlightened.i want to apply to a school in the states, but dont want to use an agent at any point as this will help me learn and be sure of avoiding some mistakes.
i will be starting NYSC in march this year and this will run into next yr march.i want to apply to a school and hope to resume at the school after NYSC,i dont intend to take this forum back,i have tried to gather as much as i can from previous parts.i only want advice...as ma dad wud say man wen ask question no dey miss road.though i will be applying as a fresh student(undergrad prog).since i will be ready for resumption by march next yr..
1. Is it cool for me to apply to a school now?
2. can i write TOEFL now? when is the next exam?
3. since i hope to fund my studies, is there a posibility of getting scholarship from schools? how can i go about getting one?
4. i wish to get list of very cheap fee schools in the states, i have only checked up minnesota state uni and arkansas state uni, these are those with the cheapest fee i know for now
5. is there a standard format for writting the statement of purpose(applicant personal statement),i was told this is also a requirement for application.
6. can one decide to write school for defernment after issuance of visa? will the visa still be valid?

i am sorry to disturb you.thanks alot!

Rather than think of deferment as the first thing it would be better to organize your things first.
FIRST How much money have you got? You must think of several years of school and include accommodation and feeding.
You can not get a school place then look for Manna from heaven to pay.
Scholarships are available, but no many and are usually given to the very best performing students.
(Do you have top grades?) work on these things first, then think of school and visa.

Justwise sire; and others:

I wish to travel to the US to run my masters. The problem is that I graduated with a third class (2.1cpga). I wish to ask if any school over there can admit me to run the programme or will I have to do a course or run an entire different programme first before the Masters. If that's d case, what the name of such programmes?

My friend stays in new Jersey state and he suggested that I look for admission in a school in that state so I can stay in his house when I get there. Pls help me out bro/others as I want to start preparing

No you have said nothing wrong.
You just seemed a little eager.

Try to research on line (with Google)
Think what subject you want to study and how that will progress to a job. (What do you want to do?)
Then find schools offering that subject and work out the costs and if it looks possible.
Then look at schools and contact them to get details of any scholarship offers.
It's a lot of work with no short cut , sorry.

And stay out of the hands of agents, you don't need to pay anyone!

Contact the school, only they can tell you what grades they will accept. Anyone here is just guessing.
You can stay with your friend, but it is good to have another spare plan / finances if that goes wrong.
These things sometimes do not work out so be prepared then you will be good either way.

But basically what are the reasons why schools reject?

Pls my final destination is Dayton, Ohio but I got a cheap flight to JFK for 200k. A direct flight to Dayton is as much as 387k, difference of 187k which is quite significant. Pls will it be easy for me to get to Dayton from JFK ? And I heard of greyhound buses. How easy can one get to the greyhound bus station from JFK ?
Thanks

Generally either they feel that your educational standard is not high enough to complete the course.
They are not satisfied with the documents that you have presented.
Or they are not convinced that you can pay for your education.

Too many applicants. The demand for US education is quite high.

Good morning everyone.

Am not supposed 2 write dis on this thread, but because of some guys who are highly informed, I decided to put it here for ur opinion.

That being said, I cud not afford USA education, I decided to opt 4 Czech republic.

I applied to one of d university in Czech, but was sent an email to superlegalize my transcript n bachelor certificate. However, the transcript has b superlegalized both at d ministry of education, foreign affairs n Czech embassy both at Abuja.

Latter on, I was told to do d same on my certificate, which I never obliged.

My question now is this. Does a seal on ur certificate by Czech embassy renders it useless?

Remember, d seal is placed at d back of ur certificate.

I really need ur contribution on this.

I don't think its proper to have a seal on your original certificate other than the school seal. You can get in touch with your Undergraduate school and ask them about it, if they say no other seal should be on the certificate, have them write an official letter to your intended university stating that it is prohibited to have a seal other than that of the university. My 2 cents though.
