This is still about NGN222.31 to CAD1.00 way higher than the official rate which should be in the 148s/150s. Really this March 1st NO banking day that is being organised should come quickly. our commercial banks need to stop ripping us off.
The rate has dropped now. I made a payment on Friday and the rate used was N146/1CAD. Used a GTB card.
Thanks

I used VFS Global and no they don't require self addressed envelopes, you pay for the courier charge and they'll return it to you after your visa has been stamped.
Hello good day, is the federal skilled program available all year long?

I know of USD, which they allow a maximum of 940 at SKYE Bank, you'll need to ask whichever bank you want to use if they can do it for you but i'm almost certain it wont be immediate

Wow thanks. Trying to pay the cic PR application fees. Please do you have any suggestions or advice?

Thank you all for your congratulatory messages, I'm so touched you have no idea!

Congratulations to you Zandora! I read the news and was super glad for you. Thanks for sharing the tips on getting a job in Canada. It was very helpful.

I have a question for you and @irondome if you don't mind smiley

Do you know how long after receipt of the background check in progress update do they send the PPR?
Please can you advise on the steps after this stage and the timeline?

Also, do they require any further proof of funds? Will the applicant be expected to bring actual cash into Canada?

Thank you very much and congratulations to you on your job.

With the background check it depends on the case officer. Sometimes it could take as little as 2 days like some people I know, or it could take as long as about 4 months like mine. Yes they'll ask you for the proof of funds at the border, it may be in cash, traveller's cheque etc.

Just to add to what Zandora posted on pof; your current bank statement + debit card of the account, in addition to little cash would just suffice. You don't have to land with all the cash on you. I landed with $1000 grin because of the current dollar trouble; and I backed up with it up with my latest account statement.

Hello Gurus in the house, i am trying to enter the pool by registering with job bank. I have tried several times since yesterday but it keep bringing error message that website is facing technical difficulties and thus try later. Is anyone witnessing this too or has witnessed same? What can be done as my bday is in 3days, 5points going!

It's probably an error with their website. Anyway it doesn't matter if you don't enter the pool before your birthday because even if you're able to enter the pool now, 5 points will still be deducted in 3 days time. So as long as you've not received an ITA, 5 points will automatically be deducted from your total score come your birthday.

Irodome & Zandora,

Thanks for sharing. This is really good to know. I plan to do same. Land with some few dollars and show them my Naija bank statement.

I am really happy to know this would suffice. Have a good week ahead to you all.

Hello House, Please i need clarification on this issue. My brother is on a student visa in Manitoba(living in Manitoba for over 2 years now). He has also received an ITA and submitted an application for the Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program. My question now is, Can i apply for the Manitoba Provincial Nomination Program once he receives his PR or i need to wait for a year after his PR to apply for the MPNP. Please advice...

Well...he can file for you after one year of having landed in Manitoba as a PR but, as it happens that he's been living there before getting PR, you may need to ask him to find out if he'll be able to file for you immediately after his PR since he's been living there before now

Hello Everyone,
I must say, this indeed is the best forum everrrrrrr...Congrats to you Zandora and God bless you. I hope to someday be in Canada and continue work as a Banker.

First my story goes this way - (Married with a child). I just received an admission letter to a uni for Masters 3weeks ago. I was super excited, later that day, i sat down and i thought - leaving my Job, my home, the environment ive know, the people ive known , the life ive known etc, i started feeling home sick already - lolzzzz ; then i spoke to a couple of friends and some of them were happy , some had encouragemnets to offer while some had advices like why do you want to go and spend this amount of money for schooling, y do u want to leave your well paying job, why this, why that? its not worth it, its this , its that.

Meanwhile, as we were recounting the options of migrating in Canny and all dat, hubby suggested the EEP. In our own little knowledge, we analyzed it and though it's worse that going through school. So i said to him that i know this naira land forum where i can ask questions from experienced good people. My question is this, is it true that we need to have a relation in canada before we qualify to apply? is it also true that we need to have a job offer or visited canada for the first time or have canadian education before we apply. We do not have any of these and it seems like we might let go at the end of the day.

I will really appreciate your kind responses. God bless you all and all the best for all hopefuls.

You are welcome to the thread.
The answer to your question is simple 'Not true'. Even though any of those might give you an advantage, you don't need them to qualify for the Express Entry Programme.

Cheers and joy!

Thank you very much Etfash. I really do appreciate. From what i have read so far, below are the steps to follow before applying
*Write the IELTS
*Send degree result to WES for evaluation - once i get their feedback
*Fill out the online application - and wait to get invited

Please , let me know if i am in order so that we can start first thing first. Also, what other things do i need to get ready? I know proof of funds is one.

Thank you again

How long did it take for them to return your passport after you sent it in for the visa?

Oh and did your BG check to PPR take two days as well?

You are very much in order. You will know any other things as you follow on in this thread.
So, both you and your spouse should register, prepare for and ace the IELTS... Once that is done, other things become easy.

Took 2 months to PPR from BG in progress (probably due to quota related issue as my BG went into in progress towards the end of the year and I got my PPR first week in January)

COPR took 4 weeks with VFS. I learnt most of those who use DHL get their passport back in 2 weeks (15 Calendar days)

[quote author=white12k post=43311569]Please I would like to find out on how to proceed with this issue. I'm an FSW 2014 applicant and my visa was issued this February. I plan on getting married this March 2016, do I still need to inform CIC before I travel about change in my circumstance (i.e. no longer single).

I look forward to your response.[/q not cuote]

White12k, I've been in this scenario before, I would advice you to send a mail to Accra Visa Office. I got called in my own case, and the lady advised me to go land, get my PR, then come back. I told her that it would be long, she said it's almost the same time it will take, if I return my COPR.
She said, if I get married before leaving, I would return my COPR and Visa, my spouse would go through the application requirements, the relationship cum marriage would go through a retinue of scrutiny, most times it looks like a sham, and I could even get mine revoked too.
However, after the call, she still sent a mail that Once we get married, I would send the following documents, a Schedule A, Additional Family Information (IMM5406) for both me and my spouse, marriage certificate, marriage photos, all evidence of our relationship (Detailed explanation as to when the relationship started, etc), copy of passport for my spouse, passport photos, fees for my spouse and a police certificate.
My dear, the ball is in your court, but first send a mail to Accra Visa Office, hopefully, you get called, and well explained to.

A bird at hand, is worth two in the bush

Hello everyone, I'm new on this thread and I really love what u guys are doing. I got married November last year and I intend relocating to Canada. I work as a restaurant cashier in a big hotel in Lagos and my salary is more than my wifes'. But she works with Lagos inland revenue service. When I checked NOC, despite the fact that I earn higher, I fall in skill level D, while my wife falls in skill level B. Who should be the principal applicant?. Secondly, she is a month pregnant and I hope that won't affect our relocation plan as an express entry. How long does it take for this express entry permanent residence take. I'm 30yrs old and she's 26yrs old and we both have 3yrs working experience in our field. Please, how do we go about this and are we making a right decision? But sincerely, we really both want to relocate...
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by dupyshoo: 4:51pm On Mar 02, 2016
It depends on the score you had before and the score you have now. For example, 7.5-9.0 in Speaking - same score, 6.0-7.0 in Listening - same score, 8.5-9.0 in Listening - same score, 8.0-9.0 in Reading - same score, 7.0-7.5 in Reading - same score, and 7.5-9.0 in Speaking - same score.

With regard to Ontario, some people have got nomination but the processing takes so much time. I have seen people waiting for almost 5 months for the nomination. What's your current CRS score?
