Apparently many people here are completely deluded to think that foreign companies closing shop is a good thing. The truth will dawn on you lot slowly. 4 Likes |

realjoker: I am in full support of this. Shoprite imports all the fruits and vegetables (tomatoes, water melon, onions e.t.c) you see on their shelves. What happens to our local production here? they are left to perish and sold for peanuts. South African businesses in Nigeria are like pests which if not uprooted will greatly affect our local industries and the economy. And if they must stay, they should be ready to source their products here in Nigeria (especially the ones we have in abundance). 3 Likes 3 Shares |

efilefun: What you do not understand is that people are losing jobs than getting jobs as promised by this man called GMB. Yes GEJ encouraged foreign investors by making the environment viable for investments to thrive. GMB has been busy finding it difficult to lure them because he is frustrating the little that invested out of Nigeria. Now Nigeria needs rebranding before it can re-enter the market, and instead of doing that, GMB is still bent on demarketing Nigeria instead. Even the local manufacturers you think Buhari is protecting are pleading for him to remove some of their raw materials they do not have access to locally from the customs restriction list. And warning that failure to do so by end of this March, more of them will close their shops. Buhari is killing Nigerians instead of corruption. 1 Like |

banki: How about the several Nigerians they employed that will now be in the Labour market and the tax they pay. Because as a foreign company they pay more tax than the local ones. Its just like you saying Julius Berger and Shell can pull out of Nigeria because we have local companies that do same thing with them. Why is the Government now running after foreign investors. We should have shut our borders like North Korea and live in isolation and poverty. 1 Like 1 Share |

Whenever a house is burning the rat leaves First. South Africans have no love for Nigeria or Nigerians. They are the first to stop buying crude oil from Nigeria signing agreement with Iran. What are we talking in NEPAD. MTN can't even respect the law of the land. Shoprite should also join. They must not return when the economy improves. 1 Like 1 Share |

austinsmat: Foreign investment is good, but it's honestly not what Nigeria needs. Nigeria needs a vibrant local industry, especially for such shoes that can easily be filled by a Nigerian company. Remember, at the end of the day, foreign investors send their profit home. 1 Like |

blackpanda:Our local manufacturers depend on imported raw materials to produce their goods.Nigeria as a whole doesn't have it locally and it will take several years to start making it.The only raw materials we produce here are tomatoes, onions, pepper,Banana, pawpaw, salt and it is due to our fertile land and they are not hygienic for mass production. 1 Like |
