have you tried to ping google.com?

Try that and we can continue from there. But typically speaking, this is a firewall related issue.

EDIT: I should say a firewall and security software related issue.

It could also be an issue with Firefox rejecting your SSL certificate to Google.

Let me know if you need help on how to ping or run traceroute tests. I do think it's your security software though. Which security suite do you use?

I have similar problem.. I can only ping loopback I27.0.0.1 and I can't ping the IP address of my tablet.

It started when I reloaded my OS but if I find other means to access internet like using pdanet+ support,I do have internet which vividly depicts that it's not a NIC problem.

I think tracert is used for windows while traceroute is used on Cisco devices cool

traceroute is used for Linux/UNIX based devices aka Apple (Mac), Ubuntu, Red Hat, Android, etc.

Since you are on a Windows device, can you type 'ipconfig /all' you should see a default gateway.

What I mean is that traceroute is used from the CLI of any Cisco devices while tracert can be used from cmd of a window devices.

Since my system is not connecting to network, the IP configurations are not showing

There should still be something showing even if it is not connected to the network. Are you wirelessly connected or ethernet connected? when you type 'ipconfig /all', it shows the Hardware address (MAC address) associated with all your NICs installed on your machine. It may just show some odd IP address.

Please kindly do an 'ipconfig /all' in your command prompt and screen shot it and post it here you can edit out the MAC address if you like for security.

I do not know if this question has been answered but if you're able to traceroute your local host 127.0.0.1 and are not able to ping other addresses on your LAN, even when you're connected to the Internet on both devices on the same LAN, then the issue is with your IP address assignation. It's not really an issue but you have to manually set your IP addresses and not configure them by DHCP. Manually configure your IP address, gateway and DNS server.. and it should work just fine. This has happened to me a number of times and setting the IP addresses manually worked for me. Give it a shot.

P.S: This answer isn't for Fulaman198, it's for baba11. I don't know why it quoted Fulaman198's post smiley

Sorry that this is coming late,I may not be able to screen grab the cmd out since I'm not connected to the internet to download software to do that.. I share my android phone internet with my PC and the laptop is working perfectly fine ..it's only the tablet that's having this problem.. it started immediately I reloaded the o.s..could the security features out of date also give rise to this?

These are the output of the ipconfig/all :

IP routing enabled: no
Wins proxy enabled: no
Media state:media disconnected
Dhcp enabled: yes
Autoconfiguration:yes
Note:no IP address is displayed

Typically speaking on a Windows Machine not assigned an IP address by a DHCP server, it received a Windows bogus IP address of 169.---.---.---. Please kindly check your interfaces. If you are tethering from your Android device, are you USB-tethering or Wi-fi tethering. You would have to check the proper Network Interface for the correct IP address information. To take a screen capture of your command prompt, kindly use Snipping tool on Windows.

Your dns servers, can you please screenshot them? Have you done a tracert yet? It doesn't seem as if your packets are exiting or being routed out of your network. Your NIC (Network card is fine), because you can ping your 127.0.0.1 address. However, You are unable to ping google.com or cisco.com so there is something wrong with the default gateway.

You either don't have dns setup, or your router has misconfigured routes.

So please provide me with the following:

ARP table: do an "arp -a" in command prompt
Routing Table: type "netstat -rn" in command prompt
DNS configuration: Go into Network and Sharing Center, then go to connection type and select wi-fi, go there then click on details. What do you see as the configured DNS server?
