For the speaking test I notice that talkative extroverts are opportune to do well than those of us who are introverts and rarely talk.

You Na brain box o....pls how did you prepare and what did you use. I need your kind of mark.

Lol I'm just seeing this, brain gini? No loud am.
Actually I started off practising for toefl, so switching to ielts was moi-moi smiley I feel the later is pretty easy if you know your way around, it's super easier to average 8.5 than dream the toefl equivalent of that same score (my opinion)

My tips: Always aim high thus practice not just with random materials but with band 9.0 samples. When searching for sample materials add "band 9.0" before or after. Using these materials will hone you for the best and even ifyou fall short on the exam day you won't fall too low. Watch YouTube speaking band 9.0 samples by native speakers and your speaking test will look like a rehearsal. One of the questions I was asked on speaking day I'd seen already in a sample video.

For writing, one important tip is to "write paragraphs not essays" Don't just blablabla...just make sure each paragraph is wicked and use enough linking words. Work on vocabulary too, before my writing and speaking tests I wrote down about 10 big words and swore to find a way to use all of them grin

Keep practising, that's the cheat code.

Funny really...same with the woman who interviewed me. The last time I heard her Uk accent was when she dropped d recorder in front of me (after she said those preliminary routine stuff). Other times her calabar accent was obvious grin but I liked her tho...just that my nerves took over undecided

go to any bank in Nigeria (except microfinance), raise a bank draft in favour of British council, take the bank draft to nearest British council office and registration details (reference number, of course you must have registered online and opted for offline payment before you can have a reference number). I think that's all, then your registration is confirmed.. Regards

Pls I have a problem! I saw in many places online that you must not read the passages from start to finish but I noticed it makes finding answers hard. On the other hand no matter how long the passage is, I can read it in 5 minutes and have the remaining 15 mins to answer the questions. Those that have don't their exam pls what do you recommend as the best method?
Re: IELTS: Share Your Experience, Ask Your Questions, Tell Us Your Score If You Can. by djpope: 11:56am On Mar 08, 2016
To me, reading section 3 is the easiest. I miss answers less there than in section 1 of paragraph headings or T/F/NG or yes/No/NG

SHARE IELTS BOOKS WHICH HELPED ME GET BAND 8.5 IN IELTS

I'm glad to share the IELTS books I used to get Band 8.5 for IELTS ( For these following books, you can leave your email here so that I can send directly to you or you can access one of my favorite IELTS blog named ieltsmaterial.com to download)

For improving my vocabulary, I chose English Vocabulary in Use (upper-intermediate), English Collocations in Use. These books are great and help me improve my style of written and spoken English to get fluent and natural-sounding English.

For Grammar, I learnt a lot from this excellent book: English Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy, Advanced Grammar in Use

For Reading, I polished up my Reading skills by reading articles on the world-wide famous website named economist.com and learnt from Improve Your IELTS Reading Skills by Sam McCarter (best-selling IELTS writer), and practicing IELTS Reading Recent Actual Test Vol 1, 2

For Listening, I chose IELTS Listening Recent Actual Tests Vol 1,2

For Writing, I'm a fan of these books: Improve Your IELTS Writing Skills by Sam McCarter, Write Right, Visuals by Gabi Duigu.
I also learnt a lot from this blog: ieltsmaterial.com for IELTS Writing Task 2 (& I got 8.0 for Writing)

For Practice Tests, the following books reflect the actual IELTS: Cambridge IELTS Practice Test Series 1 - 10, The Official Cambridge Guide to IELTS
, and Barron's IELTS Practices Exams

For IELTS tips, strategies and guides, I highly recommend IELTS Target Band 7: How to maximise your score and The official cambridge guide to IELTS , new insight into IELTS

Most of the mentioned books, I downloaded from this useful website: ieltsmaterial.com. This IELTS bloggers are so so helpful and kind, send daily IELTS books for me and to me, it means a lot. These books are also shared by a lot of IELTS bloggers, IELTS teachers. You can google these books to read more reviews about them.

Hope my sharing can help you somehow smiley Good luck, guys smiley
