dowjones:There are lot's of opportunities in the tomato paste business today and very soon, importation of tomato paste will definitely be banned. So the big question is, why are more businessmen not investing in the tomato paste business now? WHy is everyone waiting for Dangote to dominate that sector too? I may be wrong, but I thought the reason Ibeto's cement import license was suspended was because he had not met with the agreement to set-up his local production plant? 11 Likes 1 Share |

dowjones: Lets stop this nonsense. Dangote is a hard worker. He works harder than all the others. Dangote's strength is in his absolute value chain strategy. He is involved in every segment of his production systems. He mines the limestone, he produces his own power, owns the company that produces bag for all his commodities, owns the trucks that supply his cement and a whole lot others. Even owns the dockyard that berths his raw materials. Its a business stratey he has built over ages. If smallers players like Ibeto would play successfully in the same market, they must devise strategies that would make thier products way more appealing than the behemoth. Something as simple as focusing on the last mile using innovative delivery strategies can change the game for Ibeto 12 Likes 1 Share |

Integrityfarms:Dangote has flourished under successive governments, both northern and southern presidents. The man is a smart and shrewd businessman and his favours did not start under this northern presidency. If you remember in the last few elections, he supported both GEJ and Buhari at the same time; this was even evident in the circulated pictures which revealed that he even sat together with GEJ when final election results were being announced but as soon as Buhari was declared winner, he relocated to APC HQ. The man is a smart, shrewd and hardworking businessman who takes huge risks and gains huge rewards. While the man keeps expanding rapidly and buying off the entire Nigeria, other businessmen are busy sleeping on bike. Very soon, we will definitely start blaming Dangote for being a 'smart' man. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

I was expecting people to be as happy for him as the are for Innocent whatzerface of Innosson motors, but no; they're screaming monopoly and blah, blah, blah! What monopoly? Is he the only one producing spaghetti? or sugar? Or cement? Or noodles? What are you all saying? This guy's plans are awesome for our economy and for wealth-creation and you all are smarting from the fact that he'll make tons of money from his legitimate ideas? Una never start. dowjones:Nigerians can be funny, a Nigerian sees a business opportunity and exploits it, we will blame the man for exploiting business in Nigeria. Is he not better than those who steal our funds and use it to buy properties or invest overseas? Yet this man (maybe he stole the money ohh, or he manipulated situations to favor him, na him sabi), has his headquarters in Nigeria, builds his business in Nigeria and we are saying he is monopolizing Nigeria. His tomato factory, hope you know that in the area the factory is located, 70% of the tomato produced there usually perishes because of transportation and storage issues, yet somebody deemed fit to exploit that chance and we dey blame am. Soon, we will accuse him of chopping the whole Nigerian money when his refinery comes online and remember he wants to generate power too. This man is solving Nigerian problems one after the other and at least he deserve salary now for all the work wey he dey do for us. Nigerians wake up and stop antagonizing the wrong ones. For me, Dangote is a model Nigerian and somebody all Nigerians should be proud of. 8 Likes |

Some people will still castigate this man not considering that he is not the only billionaire in Nigeria as others have just chosen to go abroad to invest or launder cash too. An Ibori, Igbinedion, Tinubu and co can replicate such. Sempe for the man wey Sabi E simply just using the strength of 170 million Nigerians 1 Like |

Why won't there be 47% growth? If you are the only one allowed to sell ordinary toothpick in Nigeria, won't you be very rich? Dangote is doing nothing special. 2 Likes 1 Share |

I think we need more Dangotes in Nigeria. It's similar to South Korean "chaebol" policy that favored a few industrialist and made them so instrumental in developing South Korean economy. South Korea's economy was small and predominantly agricultural well into the mid-20th century. However, the policies of President Park Chung Hee spurred rapid industrialization by promoting large businesses, following his seizure of power in 1961. The First Five Year Economic Plan [2] by the government set industrial policy toward new investment, and the chaebol were to be guaranteed loans from the banking sector. The chaebol played a key role in developing new industries, markets, and export production, helping place South Korea as one of the Four Asian Tigers. Today those chaebols are world leaders in technology: LG, SAMSUNG, HYUNDAI, DAEWOO, DOOSAN, HANJIN ETC.. www.cnet.com/news/the-chaebols-the-rise-of-south-koreas-mighty-conglomerates/ 1 Like |

obailala: Exactly my issue with all those criticizing him here. Hes definitely a shrewd harworker who should be emulated. He collected $50,000 from his grandfather to start his business and repaid dt loan in 5 months. How many young people, whose family can afford dt, can even do that? In the 70's dt money would have bought him 10 mercedes benz's, 4mansions and dino melayes choice of toys. The guy was hardworking and very focused. He personally inspires me a lot. Ecspecially in the type of manufacturing business you should be in. He is always in industries the populace cant do without. According to ben murray bruce's new common sense slogan: Stop importing what nigerians want and then producing what they dont want. 2 Likes 1 Share |

omoigbomina: Dont mind them. Even dangote said in his own words he made a lot of money supplying cement to the govt in the 70's when they wanted to build festac '77, then everything grinded to a halt during buharis military regime when he banned imports. He had to restrategize into sthn else dt was permissible under dt govt. Governments affect businesses a lot, dts why the more successful they get, they try to get in bed wt the govt or party of the day. Its done by forward-thinking businessmen in every country of the world. 1 Like 1 Share |

Many here are bellyaching over the seeming monopoly of Dangote! Haba!! At least give the man some credit for investing in Nigeria. Many there were who had more opportunities than he was presented with but squandered same on politics, wine and women only to answer for stolen arms money while their staff salaries remained unpaid! Be fair and take your own opportunities as well. 1 Like |
