Seun: Seun, the best is to first approach a court of law and institute an action, but an order of interim injunction against passing a bill which will affect the right to freedom of expression should be sought, pending the determination of the substantive suit. After that, the proper suit should be instituted for the court to look into the wordings of the said bill and determine the untold hardship it will bring to common men if it is passed into law. Then the Court could grant a perpetual injunction prohibiting the house from ever passing the bill into law. Section 39 (1) Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 is still very much 'alive'. Social media might not do it. 2 Likes |

Why are you worried frnd? There is Solution.... Solutn: All you need to do is to create new acct with fake name without pix and continue ur twitter or Facebook media chat and expression of ur feeling. Since yahoo/ gmail/ fb / twitter and other media has not implimented 1 acct per person. I thnk they can't control that and if at senate will want to pass it into law then how many people's the MEDIA FOUNDER WILL INVESTIGATE? 2 Likes |

PresVA: Shouldn't people be wary of what they say in first place? Why will people continue to peddle lies recklessly with no fear of reproach from the authorities. Weren't you online when they said Ngige collapsed in Nigeria, while he was in a summit in south africa? This bill is simply saying be ready to take responsibility for any news or accusation you peddle online, which in essence isn't a bad thing. At least it will bring back the fun and sanity to our cyberspace. 1 Like |

joseph1832:The Irony of this is that, If the bill gets in place, Linda Ikeji will be able to prosecute you for slandering her. and you will be in danger of being sentenced to two years in Jail. With this bill, you won't be able to speak your mind, you'd be constantly worried about what is right and what is not. And did you read about the inclusion of whatsapp? 8 Likes 3 Shares |

Teempakguy: Lies! Linda Ikeji can still sue whoever she likes for slandering her with or without this bill. Check the constitution. Who said you can't speak your mind with this bill? It's a democracy for crying out loud. But when you choose to accuse anybody wrongly, be ready to bear the consequences. |

Seun: They can only enforce it on businesses and well known individuals but social media is a powerful tool they have no control over. Companies can still expose news to the masses but they must do it through a 3rd party thereby no liability. Even in the USA with all the advanced tracking and monitoring, we still have dark groups leaking classified documents not to talk of Nigeria with no cyber intelligence 1 Like |

Teempakguy:Linda Ikeji will never be able to sue me for slander because I'm very stupid enough to know and watch what I say on social media, and besides, I don't make a living via posting people's personal lives and making money out of it. And of course I read the part about whatsapp! Now I will tell you that I don't support this in anyway. Plain and simple. |
