If i understand you pretty well. what you mean is that under customary laws it is acceptable to marry as many as you like. On the other hand it is an offense under federal laws of Republic of Nigeria. Right?

Since you dont understand my view of your statement let me rephrase. Is polygamy an "offense" or it is not recognized by the civil law. which means such marriage will be void, without punishment. or it will be a punishable offense under the law?

I googled it up and I got so much information before we got here, i just wanted to be sure you had the right information as regards the the Marriage law, which i found out that you do know what you are talking about. Yet, I just feel the senator might just be seeking a revisit on Nigerian Marriage law. It may just be what his constituency want. The fact that he is a senator relays the fact that this is why they are there, they have to challenge the status quo, when they think there is need for a change or modification of a certain law that benefits the few disregarding the lots of the populace.

However, the quality of the motion they raise and support reflects the quality of what goes on in their head, they are shallow minded and have little regard for the good of the country. what I am saying is, he (senator) has the right to raise a concern, but the quality of his concern is very shallow for our country right now. his motion might be futuristic for us as a nation and we are not ready for that yet, or we have moved beyond it. I hope you understand my point?
