This path is not usually taken by everyone, if you are not owing anyone and you are studious, I don't think there a need for this but the truth is someday our big 8k will finish and the easiest way to get money on this land is as a student. Once you conclude your program and your 18 months starts. Your transport cost skyrockets, insurance goes up, taxes are higher. By the time you know it you'll find out you're working for the government and to keep yourself alive. I don't think there's a need to go deeper.

You claimed you worked to have big amount of savings in your account meanwhile you work weekends and spare time. How much do you earn from mini jobs and still have unbelievable huge amount of money in your account with the cost of living and bills to pay? How much have you saved for less than six months that you have been in Germany to be able to have huge savings? Or are you referring to the money in the blocked account which was already in your bank before you came? Quote me anywhere you cant work mini jobs and save to have huge amount of money.
I am not the kind of person to paint rosy pictures. I say things the way they really are. I don't come to German thread to deceive people about Germany. What pains me is; we in Germany that post this things don't realise that there are people back home in Nigeria who read this thread and make life changing decisions. I know people who resigned decent jobs back home because people paint this wonderful picture of Germany to them. They get here and its a totally different thing from what they read here. I see people bitting their fingers, regretting their decisions. I talk based on numerous people I have come across here in different cities and states in this country.
I will always say it without fear or favour nobody should resign their job to come to Germany thinking there is money to pick here. If you truly want to study fine.
Sorry boss. We have two different argument. Far apart point of discuss. It's cool anyway. Enjoy. All the best to everyone. I'm out

20hrs per week is scary o. That's exactly why I advised you to spread your course, though someone faulted it. As far as I know(maybe based on my location) you can spread and the Rathaus would extend your visa confirm.
I know of someone from Göttingen that's even on leave of absence and he's working in Stuttgart self. First you don't need to rush with the payment. When the time is right you'll pay. If you can get just something that'll pay for all your living expenses, then you're totally fine cos your money won't be far from 8k afterwards, then you can begin to send money back gradually. My advise.
Also don't be deceived people when you all get here, you'll know that the land of milk and honey we clamour about is an illusion. I'll stop there. So just going anywhere cos you want to leave Nigeria, is not wise
Yes now you're talking! Am not fighting you my brother no. This advice you gave here is what I want more people to come here and say. Germany is not a land of milk and honey. According to international student office, you are allowed to spread your courses more than the normal stipulated time but not more than 3 extra semesters. If you go to the Rathaus in my city for visa extension they will ask questions. My ISO told me this.Am sure its obtainable in some cities too.
Some cities you go for visa renewal they bring out calculator and divide 670 by how much you have left in your account. Some students here their visas have expired without money to renew. They are running from pillar to post. They dont come to Nairaland to say it.
Even as much as we paint nice pictures let's also tell them the other side so they know what's really going on here and make decisions.
Talking about Munich, if your brother is so blessed to get an affordable place doesn't mean others are. Generally speaking most people in Munich find it very hard to get accommodation and when they do it is very expensive. I know 2 guys paying 600€ per month for a room yet they share toilet and kitchen with about 8 or more other tenants.
In my city a room in a flatshare goes for 250€ or more. Even some up to 320€ but I pay less than 200€ for a self contained which is very rare to find. Will I now come here to say rent is less than 200€ in my city when I know its a very rare occurrence?

Ok now I'm more comfortable explaining. I'll start now
Firstly I told people to find out about their city of choice, that didn't in anyway paint Germany so nice. It literally means that not everywhere is great economically
In Stuttgart for instance, someone went to the Rathaus with just 3k and his pay slip from employers, he got his 1 year extension. The reason I came here is not to paint anything, God forbid, I'm telling it the way it is. Find out about your city. My issue with the points you talked about is that you didn't read my points well. But I understand you better now.
Moving on I don't pay for insurance cos one of my employers pay it in percentage every month (based on how much I work per month). Note it's TK
Now as a mathematics student, I've got my house rent and insurance covered, and I've got money left to spend, how will I spend much more. Do you also know that during holidays, students in Stuttgart who can work can make as much as 1800 to 2k euros. God in heaven bears me witness. Not easy but attainable. Tell me how much that is in Nigeria. I don't want to mention names cos some of then are here. My friend is leaving Germany next month cos he's tru with studies and he's got job back hom.. His workplace sent him here and they have already gave him ultimatum to come back. He told me his salary in Nigeria for a month, he can earn it here in a week. Talk to ppl living here. A few ppl know me on NL one on one, so why would I start to coat anything. I'm saying what I know and I can stand by. That was why I started with check out your city. I wish every everyone successful time with our endeavor

Hello Everyone its good to be back!
What have I missed? Lolz..... grin

For the extension of terms, I believe it is up to the individual. Extension depends on your program. Ideally master students have a maximum of two extra terms. What most guys do here is that after two terms, they go on leave for one term and make COOL cash. The money they make during this period can last for the next two terms all things being equal. The good thing is that they still maintain their status as a students. Meaning they enjoy the little benefits that go along with being a students....

Please I need 'someone' who knows 'someone' that may know 'someone' that lives in Augsburg, Graben to be precise.
So please if you live in Augsburg or you know someone that lives there, in fact just follow the chain so long as I can get in touch with someone who lives there I'll be grateful grin.

Hehehehehehe no crucify me o! No be me get English!

Its pretty urgent please!

I won't advise you to pay to anyone's naira account if you don't really have much cash o. I wanted to pay for same thing for my friend and believe me Zenith charged me about 450 for just 1 Euro. I needed to send my friend the transaction screenshot cos even if I were him I would find it hard to believe.

Before you make any move, be sure to check the agreement you signed. If it's in German you may have signed that term unknowingly. So fighting will just be a waste of time and money. Take the contract to a German to fully translate everything to you. Besides it's almost everywhere, most landlords rarely accept folks not agreed upon initially cos the extra folks would lead to extra burden in the facility. Like water, internet if provided, heating facility and all. So thread gently on that path

Exactly as Oye50 has put it.
Check your contract. Some might nt allow it, some might do and require you pay for each night the person stays in the room. And dont think you can play a fast one on the landlord. He/She most likely has a hidden camera in the corridor that would expose you if you dare try to outsmart the landlord.

Here is a translation from relevant sections based on google translation...

"cool More sublets Another subletting or extensive stays of third parties, the lodgers are not permitted.

11) Other agreements: subtenant agrees that keep community space, especially kitchen, bathroom and staircase in a neat condition and to be left clean after use, the subtenant was noted dag done sublets subject to the approval of Hauseigentumers. A grundsatzliche approval of the landlord for sublets is still available".

I told him initially that I would have someone visiting every now and then, he then noted it and said it shouldn't at any point be more than two weeks and I will also be visiting for that number of weeks too in a month, that anything beyond that will be compensated.... I didn't take that seriously at first but now, dude is insisting on it.
He had subsidised this place already by 50, then 80 euros for me, so I want to tread carefully..... Houses in Munich is hard to come by.

We regret your account cannot be opened because the documents are not completly filled. You have made implausible statements to tax residency.
Your foreign registred address does not match with a German tax residency.

Please send us the documents again completely and plausible filled and signed in all spaces with the description "Signature of account holder" and "Acknowledgement of receipt by the depositor".

A confirmation from the German Embassy is not necessary.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi If you are in Lagos go to Union Bank Head Office in Marina,is so simple tell them you want form A to transfer money to Germany,in the form A where they asked what is the money for,i wrote School fees and living expenses. Forex may be scarce now but you can still carry out this transaction. i learnt lately that Eco Bank is also doing this at the moment. Go to the banks right now and find out what is obtainable by yourself,Banks like, Union Bank, Sterling bank, Access bank,Fidelity Bank and Eco Bank

thanks so much my dear coleagues promise2, i am grateful for your concern, i know about the procedure as i was part of the process last year but later discontinue it due to personal reasons, what i really sought to know is, whether the recent ban has prevented such transaction from accessing forex at CBN rate, because if one is to source for forex you may end up paying as much as 4m naira. please if you have more info please you may give me.
thanks so much

It is not so compulsory it's here in Hohenheim or even Stuttgart. The most important is to know where you are going. As to being here, Nope you you have to send your hard copies after application and it must be on or before deadline. If you have all your documents ready, DHL would definitely get here before deadline for sure

Your landlord is correct...the nebenkosten increases so the rent also increases....I believe the tent u re payin was estimated for one person so by addin another u pay more..because u use more water (warm) etc ....

It is completely legal...the nebenkosten for 1 person is different from 2 to 3 persons.

For example a frnd is stayin in my apartment for holiday job and I m payin 100euros more than my normal rent

Its actually good u pay now...cos what u re payin now is an estimate..at the end of the year...what u use will be calculated and sent to you and if u pay less u will ve to pay the balance....

The nebenkosten in germany is ca.2.20 per qm for one person....

Peace.
