FIVE REASONS WHY YOU ARE AFRAID TO LAUNCH YOUR DREAMS

You've probably have many things running on your mind. A goal you would want to achieve. You see people do one or two things and you'd thought in your mind that you can even do better but funny enough, days roll into weeks, months and years yet you're stock where you are!

Alright, never feel alone. I have been in that shoe severally.

Yes, not once.

Just like you, they were things that held me back from launching out those wonderful plans in my head.

Here, let's see some of the factors that clog your dreams and stopping you from launching them out:

1. YOU' RE WAITING FOR A PERFECT TIME (CONDITIONS)

There is this feeling that there will be a time when everything will be set for you to launch out that glorious dream of yours. You've envisaged a situation where you have the money, time and other resources to try it out.

You see, I have been there! Yes, just like you. What if I told you that I have always had the dream of owning a blog for over one year! Yes! But the problem was that each time I wanted to do so, a challenge crops up and I tell myself, "just wait a bit, the right conditions will come and you will have your it". And then, as each moment passes by, I realize that I'm missing out on many fonts because I am waiting for the right time.

Until one day, I told myself that I must launch out. It wasn't easy. My laptop has broken down, time to write was not easily there and the money to get a self-hosted blog was not something I could do without altering one or two things.

But in spite of these, I waited no longer but gave it a try. And you know what, as young as I'm into this venture, it has opened doors of opportunities for me.

You see, whenever there's an opportunity, challenges must show forth. When you keep waiting for the perfect opportunity to pursue your vision, then you might as well bid such dream farewell. A man who waits for the conditions to be perfect, is akin to the biblical man who observes the wind. He never sows.

Despise the fears, work on them and launch out to the deep, there might never be a better time to do it than now!

2. POOR NETWORKING/CONNECTIVITY

The man named Solomon was once quoted as saying that "two are better than one". I guess he must have had an experience for him to come to such a conclusion.

Dreams require the input of others to bring them to reality. You might be finding it difficult to put that goal to practice because you have not liaised with the right persons.

The power of networking especially with those in the area you want to venture into, cannot be understated. I was able to have this platform running because I had connections with those who have been there. A nice fellow named Emmanuel Aniekan of www.onlinebloggingincome.com, was the one who hosted and designed this blog for me.

Before then, I have had contact with people like the C.E.O of Naijawriterscoach.com, Muhammed Abdullahi Tosin; and Kissesandhuggs.com, run by Pastor Dunamis Okunowo, just to name a few. I gained and still gaining more insights from them, closely or afar off. Things I find difficult have on many occasions melted away because I'm connected to them.

So, never lie alone, there are people who you need to be with in order for that lofty dream to be a reality. Break the ice, find the right people, connect and tap from their wealth of experience!

3. INFERIORITY COMPLEX:

I know you might be overwhelmed seeing the giants in the area where your visions are targeted at. In fact, mere mention of their names, sends cold shivers down your spine and you nod your head that you can't make any mark in that area.

Hmmm, the fear is real but never forget that those giants where like you and no where to be found when they started out!

Don't despise the days of your little beginning!

4. LACK OF PLANNING:

You may have those goals but have never thought of mapping out a well-structured plan on how to get about it. You don't even know the steps to take when you ought to and you then recoil to your shell and the dream shifted to maybe a-God-knows-when time.

Hnmm!!!

5. NO IMPACT IN SIGHT

When you know how much effect launching your dreams will cause, then you'll buckle up and chase it no matter what. You may lack an idea of how impacting those dreams and that's the more reason you are dissing them.

When you know that those who have affected your life started just with their goals and visions like you, then you will as well jerk back to live and see a reason to launch out.

Summarily, you must bear in mind that dreams don't become realities until you move out and step up your game. You can't get to your destination on a platter of gold, you must keep at it and be determined to see yourself where you're need to be.

So, over to you now! What are some of the fears holding you from launching our those lofty dreams/visions you have nursed for ages?

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means its going to launch you into something great. So just be focus and keep aiming.

WHY YOU NEED VISION

In life, without vision, there is bound to be no actualization of any mission. Vision is the foundation and architect of success, the currency and raw material of purposeful living.
As a student, worker, or anything good you find yourself doing, vision is very important if you want to come out fine at the end of the day.

The difference between a visionary man and one, who doesn’t have vision, can be likened to the difference between the eagle and other birds. No other bird has been known to possess greater vision than this bird. The eagle is a BIRD OF VISION; it sees farther than any bird you can ever think of.

It is vision that sets the pace for you to follow in everything you do. Without having a plan of what you are set to achieve in an academic year or a semester, as a student, what impact you want to make in your office or area of operation, you are bound to have setbacks in your studies and even beyond.

Having vision means knowing what you are to do and how you set to achieve that. It is master plan detailing how you will go about realizing your goals. Vision means that as school opens its arms, welcoming students, you already have an objective; your plan as relating to the semester. You might not want to wait till exams are in “your corner” before you start preparing for it.

WHY YOU NEED VISION?

1. FOCUS: Any high-achiever must be focused to bring his dream to reality. Vision gives you a clear path to tread on your way to excellence. You know how it works? Okies, I will let you know how it works. A man was going on a journey to far-away land.

He prepared everything he needed for the journey to this unknown land but he never got a description of the place; he never counted it useful take the address of the particular house he was going to. Eventually, he got to the unknown land and set out to look for the house.

However, he kept wandering around the place, because he never knew the house he was to visit; he had no address (vision) of where he was going to. After roaming round the unknown land and night drew close, he was attacked by robbers who took away all he had.

The following morning, he was stranded with no money/means of going back. Lack of vision brings destiny attack and hijack. You see, when you don’t have a vision of where you are going to or what you want, you become like chaff that is tossed by the wind, to any direction. The man wandered round the whole town because he had no address (vision) of where he was going to.

Vision keeps you going when there are many things seeking for your attention in life. As a student, it is what makes you ward off peer pressure and other things that might stand on your way to actualizing your academic goals.

When you have an academic vision, you wouldn’t be “gisting away” your time when you have an unfinished assignment. When you are without vision, no matter how “loaded” you are, you will be a waste to your generation. No one with vision lacks focus; see thou a man with focus, and I will also show you a man with vision.

2. GUIDIANCE/DIRECTION: When a man has vision of what he wants to do, he spends less time beating about the bush. Because he knows what to do at a particular time, he is not prone to experimenting to find out what he is going to do.

That was what happened to the children of Issachar in the bible. They had vision and knew what Israel ought to do per time, which madebtheir brethren to be at their command. Show me a man that knows what to do per second, and I will show you one who has a vision of where he is going to in life.

3. FULFILLMENT: It is hard to see a man with vision moaning about how difficult life is. You see when you have vision of where you are heading to in life; you wouldn’t be disappointed when things seem not to work out fine for you. Because you have captured a mental picture of your future, fulfilling such, will give a sense of purpose to your life.

So, what can you see? Just think, and till we meet again, keep seeing like the eagle!

Personal development is key in everyone's life. without which we cant achieve our aims and targets. Continual learning is a way to develop one's self. No man is an island. And no man knows it all.

Even an 'expert' says his opinion and not the absolute fact. Learning shouldn't be restricted to only the classroom walls. But we learn from any angle. Through experiences, what we see, hear, touch and other factors. The problem with most people now is once we are done with our basic degree, we think we are ready to conquer the world. Ive spent a little over two years in the working industry as compared to the million; excuse my exaggeration that I spent in the classroom. But believe me, Ive learnt more at work than in the classroom.

Why don't we just try develop ourselves? Make use of technology around us. Businesses are growing lately and is due to digital marketing rather than the conventional walk about marketing. we spend more money on entertaining ourselves than educating ourselves. Im a culprit of that too.

Lets take up a course and determine to see it through at least for once.

For those interested in the marketing, theres this grin grin ;Dawoof grin grin ;Don dealdey. I know say una like awoof: http://www.dealdey.com/deals/3-in-1-digital-marketing-certification

It is said that at the end of our lives, we regret the things we didnt do rather than the things we did. Training is something you should do.

WHO ARE YOU?

When asked this question, most of us would rightly answer while some may even say "which kain question be dat?". But the fact remains , we don't really know who we are. That you know your name and where you come from doesn't mean you know who you are.

It's really sad that some folks live their life as scripted by their parents, friends, uncles, aunts to name a few! You hear them, countless times, say "my mum said", "my dad said", "my friend said", "my uncle said", "my this said this or that". Hardly do they say or do a thing without approval from somebody. They do things just because somebody has said so; done so.

Today, many are in a state of depression, not knowing what is wrong with them because they have been living a life directed by someone. They do things just to please others, even when it does not suit them. It is was I call the aproval syndrome. They choose courses in tertiary institutions, not because they have the passion or talent for such, but because someone has told them so.

I could recall a friend of mine who so desired a particular hair cut because that was the "reign" one then. Whenever he saw people who wore the hair cut, he would say "na this hair dem dey barb now, I go soon barb my own like that". He later went and had this "reigning" hairstyle but looked like an "agbero".

That is why so many wannabe bloggers want to go into the entertainment sector, without knowing if that's their natural area of interest and expertise, all because some persons are "making it". That's the height of confusion, not knowing who you are!

Often, I wonder what would have been going on in people's mind when David had to remove the armour that a renowned personality like Saul gave him. Probably, his friends would have told him, "you no see say everybody dey wear am? Why your own go dey different?".

But the young man understood who he was! Or how would he have neglected what a veteran in the business, Saul, gave him to fight Goliath the world champion? My bible tells me that when David moved with the armour, advancing towards Goliath, he suddenly discovered that he has not "proved " the armour he was putting on. He didn't say "what would my King say if I remove what he gave me to wear ? Let me not get him angry and just manage it like that."

Of course, it was ideal to put on the armour because, it aided others in victory but certainly not David. He know the armour would impede his victory. He removed the "artificial strength" that Saul gave, rediscovered himself and took his sling and five smooth stones.
The rest was history. (READ 1 SAMUEL 17: 38-50, to get David's story).

You see, because your friends are doing it, doesn't in any way say that you must do it. All of us are designed differently. We have different unique features, abilities, likes, dislikes to note a few.

What works for me may not work for you. So, instead of living a scripted life directed by another person, why not sit down, look at yourself, and live a life not to please your parents, colleague, friends or get their approval even when you know you are "killing" yourself?

LIFE ACT: Take an examination of your actions to see if they were merely done to get approval from people, not minding that they were deviations from who you are and God's purpose for your life!

MEDITATION POINT: "And David girded up his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had NOT PROVED IT. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I HAVE NOT PROVED THEM. And David PUT THEM OFF him- 1 Sam: 17: 39.

Can you judge who is the better person out of these 3?
Mr A.
He had frienships with bad politicians, consults astrologers, two wives, a chain smoker and drinks eight to ten times a day.
Mr B.
He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps till noon, used opium in college and drinks whiskey every evening.
Mr C.
He is a decorated war hero, a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, doesn't drink and never cheated on his wife.
You would want Mr. C right?
This is the shocker...
Mr. A was Franklin D. Roosevelt!
Mr. B was Winston Churchill!!
Mr. C was ADOLF HITLER!!!
Strange but true..
It's risky to judge anyone by his habits! Character is a complex phenomenon.
So, every person in your life is important, don't judge them, accept them.
Three beautiful thoughts
1. No one can destroy iron but its own rust can! Likewise, no one can destroy a person but his own mindset can.
2. UPs and DOWNs in life are very important to keep us going because a straight line even in an E.C.G. means we are not alive.
3. The same boiling water that hardens the egg will soften the potato! It all depends upon the individual's reaction to stressful circumstances!
A beautiful saying ---
Mobile phones have taught us three things.
Whatever makes you happy -- save it.
Whatever makes others happy -- forward it.
Whatever will make no one happy -- Delete it.

Do you have big dreams but do not know what to do next?

It is great to have big dreams but have you ever thought about achieving your big dreams in small ways.

You can dream of climbing Mount Everest but if you have never climbed the hill in your neigbourhood, then you are just wishing.

You can dream of being an author but if you have never written an article then you are wasting your dream power

The way we get to our major milestones is by making thousands of tiny, less important decisions.

The best.way to achieve your big dreams is to act on it in little ways.

Live your dreams in Small ways today.

Life can be so challenging sometimes that we fail to see the good side. As long as someone is crying, he can never see clearly. This means that when you continue to look at the negative part of life, you can never sense the positive things around you.

Everything might appear difficult for you to deal with and you think that the only way to solving that is by “hitting our heads on the walls”. <!--more-->

NO!

This reminds me of a certain man, Zacchaeus in the scriptures. He wanted to see the Saviour but “the press was much and he was of little status”.

Guess what? He was never recorded din the scriptures as “killing” himself. All he did was to see a positive side in the negativity. Zacchaeus went ahead to climb a sycamore tree. I wonder what people would have being telling him when he was doing that. Some would have said: “wetin e dey do self. How e won see Jesus?”

Zacchaeus was able to squeeze water out of the rock. He utilized his “little stature” and climbed a tree. So, what are you waiting for? Do you think that every bad thing that happens to you is all about negativity? My dear, it is high-time you turn the other way round and take the positive lessons from some seeming bad things that life throws at us.

At the other side of every negativity is positivity. The question now is : are you squeezing water from that rock called negativity? If the answer to this is in the affirmative, then you are surely, like Zacchaeus, on your way to meeting the “Saviour”.

LIFE ACT: Look around you, if there are seemingly negative situations and extract the positives from it.

MEDITATION POINT: When we continue looking at the negative part of life, we can never sense the positive things around us.

6 KEY AREAS TO DISCIPLINE YOURSELF

At the centre of any success in life, is discipline. Little wonder, Haile Gebrselassie was quoted as saying, “Once you have commitment, you need the discipline and hard work to get you there.” Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.

To achieve a set of goals or do something meaningful in life, there are certain areas or aspects of your life that you need the input called discipline.

In this piece , I will give 6 core areas or things whichWhatever you need to discipline yourself.
Oya, let's go there:

1. SPEECH

It's no news any longer that you're your words. What comes out of you, is a reflection of who you're and what you stand for.

What you say has the potential to build or damage you and others. A running mouth can tear relationships apart, ignite hatred and all manner of hurtful things.

On the other side, a speech seasoned with love, encouragement and care, has the capability to catapult somebody into unimaginable levels of happiness and excellence.

If you're able to discipline yourself in this area, watch what you say, then you've almost won the battle of your life.

Does your speech tear apart or build up?

2. TIME

Your time is your life; and the way you manage it determines how you spend your life. Peter Drucker once said that a man who cannot manage his time, cannot manage his life.

As a sure way of getting your life on track, you must learn to use your time appropriately. Map out time for your daily tasks and as much as possible, adhere to them.

The value attached to time, was what led to the aphorism "time is money", and a Nigerian musician equally sang, "Time Na Money".

Effectively disciplining yourself in the area means doing the right thing at the right time, doing those things that are important first and leaving out those less important things for a later time.

You must consciously plan how you spend your time so as to avoid regrets as time wasted can never be regained!

Time: Wasted or Invested?

3. MONEY

Closely matched with time discipline is money discipline. Someone said that money is only but a tool that answers to the call of a master, which is you.

This is a core aspect of your life that you must manage dutifully if sadness and debt is not your destination.

As a rule of thumb, you must be able to account for what comes in, what goes out, where and how it goes. Yes! A planned budget on a monthly or weekly basis will do you no harm and you should watch what you buy, don't be an impulsive buyer.

Always try to get the things that you need, employ your economic scale of preference and never forget to have an investment; savings to fall back to in the raining day.

Also, never allow your wealth blind your sense of reasoning, instead use it as a means to better your lot and that of people around you.

Money, an instrument: how do you use it?

4. APPETITE

Food! I know you must be thinking the same! Yes, the same. But funny enough, food is just one of the many appetites you must control. It is no bad to desire some things but it becomes totally uncalled for when such quest come at "all cost".

You should never sell your birth right like Esau, just because of food. I should say that you must not be carried away with the aroma of a dish when you know that eating it at that time will cause more troubles.

Don't be like those who will be shaking like jelly fish, with saliva dropping off their mouth whenever they see food. No, don't go to the extent of saying, " I fit kill person", when you're hungry.

Aside food, your appetite for things as electronic gadgets, the opposite sex, money and drinks, to name a few, must be within reasonable armpits.

Your appetite: moderate or overboard?

5. THOUGHTS

This doesn't need much intro. You know it, I sure do; that your mind is capable of replicating every thought that crosses it.

Everything is a product of thought. Your life is certainly not left out of the equation. In the bible, it was aptly captured that as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Hmm. Your thoughts turn to a actions, then habits, to behavior and that makes up your character.

It's not all thoughts that flashes through your mind that you process. No! You must have a way of filtering every idea that drops on you. Pick out the positive ones and throw the rest to the trash can. Some ideas can only lead to trash and since you're not LAWMA, leave trash.

Thoughts: Do you filter them?

6. RELATIONSHIPS

Show me your friend and I will tell who you're, is an adage you and I are not new to.

I can have a glimpse of where you're headed to in life by merely looking at the company you keep.

As much as you need to be friendly, it's not every one that you should keep a close company with. You and I know that there are levels of friendship, not every of your friends are at same level of intimacy with you.

Your, relationships must be of value to you, else they are not what it. Look for people that bring out the best in you, not those who sap your juice of joy and productivity.

Your Relationships: Additions or Subtractions?

Over to you, what other areas should one discipline him/herself?

»In order to make progress don't just say you're gonna do it or try, freaking go out and do it.

»Truth and trust, have you realized there's only one
letter difference? It's because, one leads to the other.

»I like to distinguish between a "goal mindset" and a "growth mindset." A leader with a "goal mindset" has very tangible, numerical goals to achieve over a specific period of time. Nothing is wrong with clearly defined goals, but there's a better way of thinking that I call a "growth mindset." A growth mindset recognizes goals on the journey, but only as part of a process—not as the end results.
Leaders of successful churches are tempted to stop

The need to meet up with the demands of modern life, has led to an increased level of stress among people. From managing the home front to functioning optimally at work, the need to effectively balance things up to avoid a breakdown, has not been so largely felt.

Stress management is an issue that affects all ladders of the society; cutting across ethnic and religious divides.

So, if you're looking for ways to curtail the stress at home and in the workplace, then this post is surely yours!

1. KNOW THE SOURCE

You must know where the stress is originating from. You should ask yourself: is it from my home, workplace, friends?

That's the beginning of your journey to tackling the stress.

2. LEARN TO SAY "NO"!

Are you surprised at this? Or you're wondering: say no to what?

Often, what causes stress is because you take too much of responsibilities. Yes, you want to satisfy everyone and so whatever they request for, when your hands are tied ( you're occupied with multitude of task), you accept.

I am quite sure you want to be in the good books of everyone but taking too much to making sure such relationships are cemented, should not be on the altar of your health. Just know when to say " no" to some things and people, else you'd end up stressed up.

3. GET HELP

The fact is that most of the things that contribute to the stress you're experiencing, should have been a thing of the past if you'd sought the help or assistance of others.

You could be sweating, panicking over something that will take just a call for you to do. Your neighbor next door might be the solution to that long staying problem. When a task is seen from another perspective, it has a way of easing it; that's make the job easier.

Yes, you can as well delegate some activities to people you know can them effectively and efficiently.

4. PAY YOURSELF

When I say pay yourself, I mean take yourself out. After a hard fought battle, trying to get through some task, it no biggie if you buy some drinks, go to a relaxation spot and reward yourself for a job well done.

This is not selfishness as some people might make you think but a way of reassuring yourself that you've done something worth the while.

5. EAT AND SLEEP WELL OR TAKE A BREAK

This one is a follow up from the previous point and is fundamental to curtailing stress. Wasting good food will give your body the needed nutrients to function and a good sleep will sure refresh you after a neck-breaking set of work.

Or you can take a break from hassles, depending on the nature of your work, come back and hit the ground running again. Of course, this will help you maintain balance and turn out better.

You've sure heightened your sense of awareness by going through this and that is some measure of steps away from the dreaded monster, stress.

So, hit me up: how do you curb with stress?

FIVE WAYS TO MANAGE STRESS

Now it is not a surprise that the most difficult thing for you to do is to Lose your identity

What sort of dreams would you achieve if you had no sense of purpose? What sort of world would you be able to create if you had no Identity?

It is no wonder why you hold on to those that validate your worth and existence. It is no wonder why you are willing to follow the crowd, It is know no wonder why you seek feel among.

It is not your fault as you were born to the system. It seems better to join them than beat the system....... But think about this

Who Would You be if the World never gave you an identity? Can you be able to create your world out of nothing?

What do you think?

SHARPEN YOUR AXE

Someone once said that crude talent, attracts crude reward. Mike Murdoch noted that what enters you, determines what exits you. To make lasting impact, talent is inadequate. A life of positive impact to society, transcending generations, requires constant "chiselling". What do I mean? To be in constant demand or remain relevant, you must take concrete and deliberate steps to develop and train yourself in your area of interest.

Adequate training is putting yourself on a foundation made with rock. Daniel in the scripture had an excellent spirit and he was preferred among the wise men. He did exploits. He was outstanding. He was very wise. But beneath all these was a secret. A secret that helped him unlock the doors of relevance. He simply "understood by books" (Dan. 9:2)!

He had the God factor going for him yet he developed himself! You have told yourself that there is no need to develop yourself more, afterall the "one whey I get don do". The moment you start making such statement, you would be on your way to stagnancy.

The world is revolving daily and what you have today; making you relevant, would become useless tomorrow. Talent is cheap but when polished by training, you set yourself on a different pedestal. Elisha had to stay with Elijah before he got the unction to do double of what his master, Elijah did. Joseph was preparing himself for the leadership of Egypt when he was incharge of Portiphar's house.

Information is the currency for transformation. Anyone that has it, sets himself apart from the crowd. When you have the right knowledge, you solve problems. You become valuable and when you are valuable, you exchange your value.

People will pay you for the value you create and the problem you can solve but how can you create value when you are empty; give what you don't have? When you pay a doctor to treat you, you are paying for your ignorance in that area. The doctor might just tell you to go home, take a rest and your problem that looks like a mountain, would become plain. What just happened is a product of application of self-development and possession of adequate information in that area which you don't have. The world is in dire need of those who are informed in their area of interest.

You are where you are today; in distress, feeling unfulfilled and irrelevant because you have refused to update yourself with the required skills/ tools.

Whatever you do, go for training. Refine yourself and that raw talent you have. Getting the right skills/information/knowledge today, is the currency you need to purchase your tomorrow.

Talent is cheap and raw but the question is: are you refining it to remain relevant or do you want to continue attracting crude reward by failing to refine it?

LIFE ACT: Take concrete steps as attending relevant workshop, reading good books, taking refresher courses, in your area of interest.

MEDITATION POINT: 2 Tim 4:2; John 12:24.

MAKING EXCELLENCE A LIFESTYLE
By Emmanuel Egobiambu | February 22, 2016 | Self-Development
Excellence means being above average, being the best among the rest. To excel means to shine, to be outstanding, to be uniquely successful. To excel is to do above and beyond the norm. In this world of maturity, excellence is the distinguishing mark of a great man or woman. Excellence takes a man from twilight to limelight, from obscurity to stardom. The world is in search of persons with the X-FACTOR- Excellence. This singular factor makes a man a sought-after. It makes a man to be in demand continuously.
runner-557580_640
An example of excellence is the Biblical character, Daniel who was an Israelite taken to Babylon as a slave. He was among those selected to serve the king.
He was a man of purity who refused to defile himself with the king’s meal. (Dan.1:cool. He had a healthy self-image, he didn’t see himself as a slave, and he saw himself as a descendant of Abraham- a blessed man carrying the solutions that Babylon needed. Daniel distinguished himself with excellence. He was ten times better than all the scholars, philosophers, astrologers, astrologers, doctors of science, magicians and enchanters in the kingdom of Babylon.(Dan. 1:20). What a feat!

Daniel was not the only one gifted with knowledge and understanding of visions and dreams but he used his talents excellently, hence he was preferred above his colleagues. (Dan.6:3 NIV) says: “Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the Satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king plannedto set him over the whole kingdom” He had exceptional qualities of wisdom, reverence for God, love, integrity (transparency), diligence and loyalty. Excellence makes a man get promotion without application. It sets a man on a pedestal of greatness and honor. Kings came and left the scene, yet Daniel remained in charge and was always favored by each new king, because excellence is a magnet that attracts favor and promotion from men.

The word, excellence, is more than just an attitude or quality, it is a spirit. When a man is possessed with the spirit of excellence, mediocrity is a thing of the past. An excellent spirit was found in. Daniel. (Dan. 5:12). It is the spirit of excellence that drives a man to
excel and shine like a star. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of excellence. How do I know that? Jesus. was the most excellent man who ever walked on the face of the earth and the Holy Spirit was his secret (Acts 10:38, Luke 4:18).

Excellence is a decision to go the extra-mile, to add a little “extra” to the ordinary, thus
culminating in the extra ordinary! Excellence is not inherited, it is cultivated. You can train your mind to think through a problem; to think beyond the box and do a little bit more than the average person around you is doing.

If you want to be excellent in big things, you must be excellent in small things. Until you are faithful in small things, don’t expect great things. Create a habit of excellence, in your academics, work, and in all you do; do a little than the average; make it your watchword and you’ll see yourself living a life of impact.

REASONS WHY YOU NEED A MENTOR

A man once said, "if I see farther, it is because I stand on the shoulders of those who have gone ahead of me". This statement in the school of mentorship, cannot be dissed. Mentors are those you look up to because they have desirable traits which the mentee wants.

So, why would you need a mentor, a father, and shoulder to lean on?

#. EASE: When you have a mentor, in a particular field, you spend less achieving more. Why? Those who have gone ahead of you have cleared the way. The challenges you might have now are those which they have already seen.

When a construction site is about to come up, it is the bulldozers that goes first to clear the thicket and pave way for the smaller vehicles and humans to pass.

It is a mentor that clears the ground for you, he waters it to ensure that your passage is with ease. A mentor gives you a platform to operate on.

#. MAXIMUM RESULT, MINIMUM EFORTS

There are things you cannot achieve on your own, no matter how hard you try. You cannot compare the harvesting time of a man that planted orange today and the one that inherited an orange tree. No, it's impossible to compare both. Why the one that planted today will be cultivating the land for the orange to mature and start bearing fruits, my brother who inherited one would be thinking of how to harvest the orange fruits.

A mentor makes you have things you're not qualified for; you reap their fruits alongside them.

#INSPIRATION

When you have a mentor, his appearance alone, gingers you. Seeing him/her gives you hope that you can also run with your goals. A day at the feet of mentor is worth more than years of sitting alone. When your mentor appears, you get inspired to aspire for more. A mentor is he that tells you, "you can do it.

Show me a man who doesn't have inspiration and I will show you someone who doesn't have a mentor.

#DIRECTION

A mentor lives a trail behind for you to follow. It is said that who you follow determines what follows you. It is a mentor's job to direct you and keep you on the right track. He sees your weaknesses but tells you what to do to minimize such and for you to stay on track. When a mentor is besides you, it is like a lamp on your way, so you don't stumble.

# I'LL LEAVE THIS FOR YOU

So, what other values can you get from a mentor? Drop it/them on the comment box!

8 WAYS TO AVOID RUSHING YOUR DAY

  By Emmanuel Egobiambu | March 1, 2016 | Self-Development

As each day comes, you’re probably on the lookout on how to avoid being so busy that you’ll forget to eat. Maybe all through the day you always find yourself struggling to meet up deadlines and as such you become weary; worn out; battered.

Probably you’re not doing the right things at the right time or you’re applying it wrongly. Never to worry, I’m sure this will be of help, don’t you think so?

Well, here are some 10 things you need in order to avoid a very busy and overcrowded day at work or in the office:

1. HAVE A PLAN

Do you plan your day?

This might sound simple and redundant but it’s one thing that may be contributing your being busy all day long. It’s highly effective when you have a plan of what you need to do for the day. It shows you where the bulk of your time will go into and when and where to do things.

Having a plan gives you a mental picture and map of where you’re headed to for the day thus reducing the chances of rushing through the day when you remember that you’ve not done what you’re supposed to do.

Do you have a daily plan?

2. START EARLY

Early Bird Catches the Worm

An adage says that it’s the early bird that catches the worm. This true if you want to avoid a busy day. Whatever plans or things you have for your day, beginning it as soon as possible is a sure way to prevent running helter skelter when it’s the eleventh hour.

Waking up early and avoiding the monstrous traffic jam on the road can save you a day of stress at work.

Are you an early starter?

3. PRESS DELETE

You Can’t Do all things!

Yes, delete it. I’m not talking about a picture, video, sing, contact or message on your mobile device. All I’m simply saying is that there are some things in your itinerary for the day that you can’t just do no matter how hard you try.

Never try to do everything else you’ll see yourself running up and down throughout the day without anything to show for it. There’s no harm going through your schedule, and pressing the delete button.

Are you doing everything?

4. SAY “NO”

You Can Say “NO!”

This might be misunderstood to be selfishness by some people. When Mr. A says you should do this, you jump at it. When Mr. B shows face, you leave yours and dive to his bidding.

Hmmm. It doesn’t mean you can’t help someone out but at some point, you’ll need to say “no” to avoid crashing.

However, no matter how hard you try, you’ll never satisfy everyone and do all things. There are things that come up of which you must tell yourself “no”, I can’t do it, at least not now.

Can you say “no” to a request?

5. DELEGATE IT

Others Can Do It!

Those who are in the military would understand this better. You see, if you want to do all by yourself, not allowing others to help you out, especially when they can, might be one of the reasons you come back home sweating.

Until you learn that others can help you out in some things, then you should be ready to keep having a busy day. Look out for those who can deliver same we quality like you when they are in charge and rushing through your day will be a history.

Are you doing everything, “all by yourself??”

6. TAKE A BREAK

Take a Break

“I’m trying to meet up my busy schedule and all you could offer is, “take a break?”. You must be a big joke”

Maybe this is your reaction but taking a break at the heat of the day can go a long way in refilling your lost energy. You can go for lunch, take a rest or stroll around and then you’ll see your energy rebound.

7. STAY OFF SOCIAL MEDIA/PHONE

Can you shut the mails?

I don’t need to say much about this. Just ensure your mail is closed, your WhatsApp is put off; and all other social media. This is not shutting yourself against the world, but cutting out distractions that will end up chopping up your limited time.

8. OVER TO YOU

I know you want to know other ways to avoid rushing through your day. You know what? I’m leaving that for you

What do you think? How doi you avoid rushing through the your day? Let’s talk!
Re: A Thread For Personal Development, Self Growth And Motivation! by awakon(m): 10:02am On Mar 11, 2016
So you are created with a golden purpose which is unique to others.

You have got talent that makes the world a better place and you solve problems for people that others see as difficult.

No matter your role, no matter your age, no matter your gender, you are an extraordinary being of creativity, bubbling with compassion, kindness and generosity.

But do you know that you can forget all of these things so easily? How

That is because you are wrapped up with the deadlines of life.

You know; perfomance issues, structured timelines, pressured goals and setting ambitions based on what the world says is important.

Now am i saying you should be complacent? No way!

But don't be pressured so much that you get lost in life.

Sure! you should go for your dreams and achieve them. You should aim for a big goal and go for it. You should never give up.

But remember that you should not let the opinion of others drive you so much.

You matter not because of what others think about you but because you are a wonderful creature possessed with unique abilities.

People are blessed by your existence! People need your magic! People need YOU.

Good evening, my awesome, awesome people of Nairaland. Hope you all had a great day? Mine wasn't stressful by any stretch as I'm off duty.

This thread has been on my mind for weeks. I've been thinking how to go about it. I've written it in my mind weeks ago, but somehow I've been reluctant to transmit what's on the head into reality. It was simply lying there.

This evening, the desire and determination seem greater. Hence these words.

Sometimes the fear of failure- maybe the thought that people won't accept and deem it necessary to follow the thread- played no little role in keeping me from starting this thread. I simply paid more attention to the fear of failure than the good this thread could bring to people, even if it's just one person. That fear kept me in a state of inertia. But I've been restless over this issue. I've consulted with a few persons and all of them seem to believe I should give it a go. I just felt pressed to start it.

I've scanned through NL, and I'm yet to see a thread dedicated to personal development, self growth and motivation. I'll be happy to fill that void.

Away from the rumbles of politics, romance and other critical sections, we need to have a place we can quietly come in to read a quote, a talk, a short motivational speech, etc. We need a place we can actually pay more attention to OURSELVES. We hardly pay adequate attention to ourselves; we are more encumbered by what's happening in the lives of politicians and celebrities that we hardly have enough time for our own personal development and improvement.

This is the way it will work: you can drop a wise quote, either from your own mind or from others( ensure to source them), and then we discuss and deliberate on it. It could be a story. In fact, you can drop and share the chapters or sections from an entire novel or other material.

It's my deepest wish that we make this place a serene and mature corner. It's my hope that many shall be blessed and uplifted by the words that shall cover this place. And it's my desire that this thread shall be responsible for the happiness, development, and success of many.

Let me leave you with this: You weren't born to be mere statistic. You weren't born to just roam upon the Earth. You weren't born to just eat, sleep, and die. But you were born to fulfill a PURPOSE. You were born to meet a HUMAN NEED. You were born to fulfill a DESTINY. You were born to be a solution to the world's problems. You were born to be a blessing to generations!

So feel free to come around and share that inspiring quotes or stories of yours. You never could tell how many lives will be positively impacted by them. If our lives aren't impacting others positively, then we need to do a sincere and thorough self-assessment with a view to sorting out the situation. We must be useful!

''The two most important days in a man's life are the day he was born, and the day he discovered why''

Thanks for your time. Good night, and God bless you all.

Dearpreye!

Lalasticlala, please, let others know such a corner as this exists on this forum. Thanks.

God bless you DearPreye. You just said my mind. I have been reluctant to push hard on Nairaland, because I felt the topics discussed on here are not very inspirational and thought-provoking.

However, I have looked forward to this medium of sharing my thoughts, ideas, and encourage people to greatness, and you just blew my mind. This my account is new on Nairaland, so I can't create a thread for now.

As a Certified Life Coach from Life Coach Training Institute (USA), I do host activities purely dedicated to Life/Cyber coaching, mentoring, counseling, Motivating and helping people to live their dreams and greatness in life.

I am so ready to make this thread come alive with the help of other people on here. I would like to work with you DearPreye, because I see greatness in you.

Wow!

Thanks for joining the thread with such an awesome first post. There's greatness in everyone of us. I believe that very strongly.

At the moment, I'm NOT a certified life coach, though I will appreciate your assistance towards my getting certified. I don't know if the Life Coach Training Institute runs an online programme. I'll really love to be certified.

I have only two passions for life: My HSE profession and being a Life Coach. I really love to have your inspiration and contribution here. I love to push people to become their very best.

The fear of a loud sound? I've never heard or read that before now. Explain sir.

Good morning, and God bless.
