Who is in charge for pass 16 years?
What he contributed to power as Governor in Lagos alone is a credit.

Are you angry may be he came to visit and see the level of damages done on the plant?

Or he came to expose your backyard?
There are some comment one has to ignore. You should ignore him. Some of them will go AWOL Come 2019.

So so sorry for Nigerians. More irritating is when you now discover that it is still this same clown that is billing Nigerians with higher power tariff that is not working.
Do you want him to start working on it instantly....! I pity you... shocked

Nigeria successive governments are criminals. See how they've turned the place into a horrible sight like an abandoned junkyard.
Meanwhile this is in Igboland where the people see the last administration as the best thing after slice bread.

Funny enough that state is the only state in Nigeria with not less than 23 hrs power supply daily.

You guys make me laugh

Bet me when this thermal plant comes into function again, they will blow it up to critisize the government

Take an example of the NNPC pipeline in aba, that never carried refined petrol for over 15years. It started working again some few weeks ago this was to make petrol cheaper in the south east, it worked for 7days then they blew it up, the same people come on nairaland and abuse the government then I ask who are your enemies?

This was a coal fired power plant. You need coal to be running first before you even re-build the plant. All Jonathan's efforts to revive coal failed because of too much complex commerciality and lack of transparency. We need simple direct intervention with the minimum of noise making
The honest truth is that gej had wonderful ideas but he failed in delivering them because he was a weak leader. I believe we still have sufficient amount of coal to generate power, all that is needed is a person to deliver those ideas. Although I doubt it if buhari has it anyway

Failures and dropouts have wonderful ideas (in their dreams) but cannot deliver because they are.......[fill the blanks with excuses]. Bros, GEJ had no wonderful idea and padding it is a disservice to honesty. GEJ was simply a mistake we "emotionally" made

Enugu coal is the answer to Nigeria's power generation problem. There are clean coal power plants now that are very expensive to build but when you start construction, the EU will give you grants just to ensure that the emmissions will be low. Apart from power, coal also produces a large number of by products that we need in country and also for exports.

Bros,

I will assume some of your assertions here are mere wishful thinking. Truth is coal is dirty energy, no matter how you spin it and the world is discouraging it.

In our case, we need power from all sources, so fvck CDM, Clean emission and the likes for now. We need to get the plant back up, anything that can push us over the 10-15GW mark in the shortest possible time is welcomed

Common sense should tell fashola that this trip is a waste of time and money. You can't visit a thermal power plant without first visiting the coal mine. How will you get power without coal?

Clueless govt.

and you think you have made sense? We need to start putting pacifier in the mouth of some of you lot.

If gej had no ideas why is it that buhari and his cohorts are still following and implementing his policies and ideas?

Remember even buhari himself has acknowledged more than once that it is gej policies and roadmap that he is implementing eg TSA, power sector reforms
And even fashola himself has stated it that it is the laid down plans of gej ,they are implementing and that out of all the past governments it is only gej government that had done more roads.
What policies has this government initiated for the last 10months?
Governance is about continuity and buhari has done well by not abandoning gej projects or ideas

But you cannot get constant power supply without the coal in the South east. Coal is the number one source of electricity in the world.

Edo Overtakes Enugu In Coal Production

On Tuesday, Nigerian geotechnical consultant Jidet Nigeria revealed that a group of indigenous mineral explorers have identified 196 million metric tonnes of coal reserves in Edo State, Southern Nigeria.

The reserves are estimated to have a generation capacity of 1,200MW for 50 years with a believed construction cost of $1.5 billion, Olujide Pocon Tajudeen-Alan, head of the technical team at Jidet, told local newspaper The Daily Trust.

Tajudeen-Alan said: "We have the capacity to produce 1,000MW electricity for the next 50 years from the coal reserve. As at now, we have confirmed a reserve of 196 million [metric tonnes].”

Jidet has met with the Federal Ministry of Power in Abuja on how to attract technical partners and willing financiers with "a view to actualising the project", according to the newspaper report.

"Our major reasons for coming here is we want to commence the application and processing of licenses to officially enter into the power sector. We are also soliciting the support of experts in the ministry to guide us because initially we are mainly into mineral exploration,” the company said.

Contributing to Nigeria's power generation
Minister of Power Chinedu Nebo was represented by his special adviser on renewable energy, Dr. Albert Okorogu, who responded by saying that: "The meager electricity we have in Nigeria is not sufficient so anything we have that we can tap into is very much welcomed.”

Okorogu continued: "They have discovered coal in some unusual places that we have looked into and that's wonderful. If you look at our coal map, we have never actually mapped Edo as having coal. So the ministry will do all it can in ensuring that they move from mining coal to using it to generate power.”

In March, the African Development Bank (AfDB) put up $500 million as a partial risk guarantee for the Nigerian power sector.

The federal government will use the funds for expansion of coal-fired power plants in attempts to increase the country's power generation capacity.

Managing director of the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Rumundaka Wonodi said: “We are working with the World Bank for [a] partial risk guarantee to support the projects that we undertake; unfortunately, the World Bank is very reticent and they are not quite committed to giving support to coal because they deem it to be dirty fuel and not very good for the environment.

He added: "However, the AfDB, which is African and understands that Africa needs power from every source that it can, is supporting coal."

Fashole you need to consult with the immediate paste Power Minister so he can put you through on how he made the megawatts to rise to 6k. Enough of this constant power failure.

6KMW was not enough. Nigeria needs 12000MW to have 24 hours light.

That there is a posibility of discovering coal on Edo for the first time does not mean Edo has taken over Enugu on coal production. which school did you attend?

he doesn't need to know how power works, all he needs is to have people who know.

seriously how many things can one person know?.. this was a former governor that built independent power projects in Lagos without knowing how power works, according to you.

you are very correct, why on earth will a power station look like this when there was a dasuki gate, mama peace portfolio and arms deal scam.. How will one be expecting a stable power supply with the look of situation at that place. Do we really need to be ruled by government? Nigeria has reached its expiry date with the look of things
