Petrobros:

The bolded I doubt will take place. Ighalo would be Siasia's preferred CF option. You think a 4-4-2 formation would suite the team because of Iheanacho. Rather than u playing Iheanacho to suite the Team u are setting up the team to suite Iheanacho. That is what I see. If u say Iheanacho is a striker and practices as a striker in Training at City then he should be ready to sit on the bench in Rio.

I am not looking at Iheanacho from a sentimental point of view but finishing ability. If we have the ball in the eighteen yard box of an opponent and I am to pick a Nigerian striker to take the shot. If I am to make a list of who I want shooting that ball, Nacho leads the line. His finish against Tottenham comes to mind.

Ighalo brings more to the team than finishing ability. He holds the ball well, moves well without the ball and uses his body to fight off players.

He is the ideal man to play alone up front, followed by Aaron Samuel.

If we go 4-5-1, with a defensive disciplined set up (not packed bus) the Ighalo and Samuel will be the favored choice.

If we go with a 4-3-3 attacking set up like we have at Barcelona, with the Messi, Suarez, Neymar kind of play. I would not select these guys. I will go with a Success, S. Moses, Nacho setup (agree with Icon4s) here.

In a 4-4-2, I will go with a Nacho, Success set up, just like the Nacho-Aguero setup at City.

Nacho can also pair Aaron Samuel or Ighalo up front but I always prefer sharp, skillful pay finishers up front. Like Tevez, Aguero, Suarez, Neymar, Sanchez. To the Giroud, Berbatov, Lewandowski, Dzeko, Bony, Costa.

It is a thing of preference. Coach Siasia style of play to approach the tournament will decide the set up.

Although he already said he wanted Ighalo in his team

One thing Iheanacho has going for him is his versatility. Iheanacho can play upfront as a second striker, he can play as a main striker, as a number 10 and he can also play from the right wing. Iwobi can play from the wings and also from the number 10 position. Iheanacho's striker instinct puts him ahead of Iwobi. Iwobi is a fantastic number 10 player. We can exploit the capabilities of both players.

I would want to disagree with petrobros in this area. Some times u set-up a team to suite the capabilities of one or two players. It also works that way.

A combination of Iwobi who is an excellent ball passer and Iheanacho who is an excellent finisher would be a delight to watch. I sincerely wish Ighalo is left out of this Olympics Team.

Aminu Umar was not part of Iheanacho and Success set. He played U20 in 2013 alongside Moses Simon, Abdulahi Shehu, Kingsley Madu, Wilfred Ndidi and co. Though he was eligible to play at the last U20 but was not invited.

Mark my words, Siasia would never pick Kelechi as a CF. I share the fears of Icon4s, as weeks go by, Success is playing himself out of reckoning. Ighalo was the final straw. He will be the automatic choice and since Success plays on the wings, I seriously doubt Siasia would put him in front.

With the avalanche of talents available, not too many highbrows will be raised if Success is omitted from the squad. That's my take.

cc: linked

Coaches build talents. It is not looking good for Success because he is around some of the worst players in a top League. However, the guys talent is massive. I believe he will make it to camp before the final list. Let Coach Siasia try them in training.

I believe in training, playing his natural role, Coach Siasia will see Success quality and pick him.

If Coach Siasia decides to go 4-4-2, then Nacho becomes an important player in the squad. He will attack and not bench. If Coach Siasia goes 4-5-1, Nacho benches, then I say we drop him to continue working with Guardiola to make a regular place in City.

This is really a tough decision. I think what will make the final decision is Coach Siasia plan for the competition. That will decide the formation and selection. Remember, we still have Nwobodo and Usman fighting with Iwobi for that creative midfield role.

For me I prefer Nwobodo but Iwobi has the professional training at one of the highest level of the game.

No. I did not say Nacho must play. The tournament plan and formation rest on Coach Siasia. If he wants to have a strong defensive unit that relies on Counters, he will go with one man on top (4-5-1). Here, Aaron Samuel and Odion Ighalo shines.

If he wants to play a 4-3-3, the other creative strikers like Chikatara, Success, Nacho will get more nods.

If he goes 4-4-2, Nacho will be an important pick because he is flawless supporting a striker.

So, I am not suggesting the plan. I am saying if the coach chooses to go with an attacking 4-4-2, Nacho will benefit from it.

It is Coach Siasia's choice.

He lasted for the entire duration of the game, while Kayode was substituted in the 74th minute.

Osimhen joins Nigeria U23 camp
[/size]

Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen Sunday joined up with the Nigeria Olympic team ahead of a friendly against Rio Olympics hosts Brazil later this month.

The youngster was part of the squad who won the U23 AFCON in Senegal in December just weeks after he emerged as all-time top scorer at the U17 World Cup in Chile.

In January, he signed an agreement to join German Bundesliga club Wolfsburg in January 2017.

“Victor has joined the U23 training camp in Abuja,” one of his representatives informed.

“He is doing well, delighted to be called up and he is ready to give his best to Nigeria as always.”

Brazil will face Nigeria on March 24 in a friendly as part of the two countries’ build-up for the Rio Olympics in August.

Osimhen says he wants to beat Brazil 'at their backyard'

Osimhen against Brazil in Chile 2015

Youngster Victor Osimhen has said he hopes to beat Brazil Olympic team in a friendly later this month.

Osimhen was part of the Nigeria U17 team who defeated their Brazilian counterparts at an invitational tournament in South Korea before they again stopped them at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile.

He said he now wishes to beat the Samba Stars in front of the fans on March 24.

FIFA U17 World Cup highest goal scorer ever, Victor Osimhen, has arrived the camp of the U23 national team, the Dream Team VI, ahead of the friendly against Brazil later this month.

The ganging striker who arrived the Star View Palace Hotel camp of the Dream Team at about 1pm on Sunday was received by interim coach Fatai Amoo.

Speaking on arrival, Osimhen, who was part of the Africa U23 Cup of Nations–winning team to Senegal last year, said: "It's always fun for me to come to camp and play for my fatherland. I see it as a privilege and will always honour such invitations any time I am called upon.

"I have come to fight for a jersey in this friendly match that is part of preparations for the Rio Olympics and I am happy to be among the invited players.

“You know I was part of the Golden Eaglets team that defeated the Brazilians at the last U-17 World Cup in Chile and so it will be a pleasure for me to play them at their backyard and hopefully find the back of the net, as I did against them in Chile."

With his arrival, Osimhen became the first foreign -based player to arrive camp in preparation for the game.

The U23s are expected to depart the country on Sunday, March 20, aboard a South African Airways flight.
