Crude oil is exported from Nigeria courtesy of Niger Delta while billion of dollars are gotten from the proceed which is then shared freely to all while the lion share goes to the North!! They use this free money to build roads, import goods & all other services. Cattle, Goats, Tomatoes, Onions etc are produced massively in the North, much of the perishable ones get spoilt before they are consumed, that many farmers in the North are able to break-even is because of the demand in D South! Also a huge percentage of the cattle comes from Niger & Chad!! D South can do without the North but the North will become another Chad the moment we balkanize!!! These items you mentioned are not grown in commercial quantity in the South. Even ordinary garri for Abia and Imo state is purchased from Benue state in "commercial "

As for rice, forget that sef. I suggest you try shopping in the Nort, even Abuja for food items. Then you will understand that Southerners are more into buying and selling.NOT FARMING. The North and Middle Belt FEED Nigeria.

Here farming is a very big business, if you want rice in commercial quantities I will direct you. We have many rice mills here. Both old and new.

If you want garri I will provide it for you in large quantities...
Garri is processed from cassava, and cassava doesn't lack in the south.

I can also add breadfruit for you for free in commercial quantities.

The north can only boast of beans and onions in commercial quantities. But guess what sorghum can suffice.

Yam is surplus here, just mention it...

There is something you dont understand, a huge fraction of the tomatoes, onions, cabbage etc grown in the North gets spoilt before they are consumed because of glut during peak production, that farmers in the North are able to make optimal profit is because of the demand from the South! The moment South stops buying, a lot of farmers in the north will either liquidate due to losses or they will significantly scale down on production to minimize losses. They dont even have storage facilities to preserve them, its even one Igbo man that built the largest tomato paste factory in SSA here in Lagos to help them market their products!!
