The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos State chapter, on Sunday, said President Muhammadu Buhari’s foreign trips were not aimed at finding a lasting solution to the many problems confronting Nigeria as claimed by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), but rather to show gratitude to presidents who backed him in his bid to be president.

Mr. Taofik Gani, PDP publicity secretary, said the President Buhari was merely embarking on ‘Thank You’ visits to leaders of foreign nations who supported him during the 2015 presidential election, which explains why there is no improvement in Nigeria’s economy despite the numerous foreign trips since he took over.

According to a statement from the Presidency, Abuja, President Buhari would depart for Equatorial Guinea Sunday.
President Buhari has been criticised by a section of the polity for his overseas trips. A few weeks ago, PDP stalwart, Governor Ayo Fayose, charged Nigerians to compel the President to “stay at home and govern.”

Gani said the statement attributed to Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information, on Saturday that Nigeria’s economy is beyond President Buhari was an admission that the APC-controlled federal government was incapable of managing the affairs of the country.
“What they have admitted is that they cannot provide solutions to the problems of the country. The expression by the Minister of Information is a vindication of our campaign that the APC-led federal government is too kindergarten and intellectually arrogant to manage the affairs of this sophisticated country.

“They are arrogant because they do not want to see any trace of PDP in their government. They have decided to throw out the baby with the bath water. The experience and contributions of great minds like Akinwunmi Adesina, Okonjo-Iweala and other ministers under the PDP have all been rubbished because the APC government wants Nigeria to believe that there is nothing good in PDP,” he said.
The PDP spokesman averred that the APC government was “clueless” becuase many programmes of the former administration have been scrapped.
He alluded to the Sovereign Wealth Fund championed by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former Minister of Finance, which he said “saved Nigeria from even what America cannot survive when there was world economic downturn. The fact that there is a sharp fall in price of crude oil should not make the Nigerian economy this bad.”
“Our economy is bad because the people who are in control are clueless and intellectually arrogant, refusing to seek the advice of those that can assist them. They are only playing partisan politics with our lives. What is expected of the Honourable Minister is not only to apologise to Nigerians but to honourably resign.

“They have no solution to the myriads of problems confronting the country. The other day, they said all the foreign trips by President Buhari are to seek solution to our problems. If so, how come things are getting worse? I believe President Buhari’s numerous trips is just to say ‘Thank You’ to world leaders who supported him during the last presidential election,” he said.

This administration is like the proverbial famer who went after thieves that looted his farm produce and made no plan for the next planting season, the farmer do not need any prophet to tell him that he and his family should be ready for hunger the next year

If this many presidents/Leaders backed Buhari in is bid to be president then something must be terribly wrong with PDP.

However, 'thank you visit' is not the only thing alleged by PDP Lagos State Chapter as the misdeeds of President Buhari's/ APC administration.

Several other very vital and serious issues are raised which sound quite true, but worrisome to Nigerian as a country.

PDP is now opposition in the country, and again, in their years of governing Nigeria, they didn't do too well, too.

But that should not make the present administration justified, vindicated or excused of blames and criticisms in this obvious face of many things having gone wrong.

So posters here who won't see anything right with what the Lagos Chapter of the PDP says, and won't see anything wrong in the current administration's excesses should learn to be objective.

One thing for sure is that PDP cannot claim to be a better alternative because they have proved themselves already.
