[[s]quote author=chigoizie7 post=43777580] U re correct. But if amaechi had good intentions for the people of rivers, he would have known that the airport would have opened rivers more now, he would have known that as big as PH and as rich as they are, that airport would have brought more IGR and soo many goodies to the people of rivers, it is just a matter of common sense. PH is an economic hub of the entire oil rich south south, we know many investors that needs transportation are always in and out of PH. It would have been a win win for rivers. @least, ask for refund later, u and I knew that if amaechi had good plans for rivers people, he would have done d airport, rivers is rich. I knew u might ask me were state does FG projects. Well, from niger bridge to odumodu junction is a very critical road in anambra state, without that road, the economic activities in onitsha would have been brought to zero, it would have reduced the IGR of the state very very well. It would have killed the economic/commercial city of anambra. Best bet, state Govt took the bull by the horn to do those roads, not minding the cost and who was meant to do d roads, but focused on the long run benefits of the road, they are still pleading on FG to refund them, but @ d mean time, the road achieved it purpose @ a record time. Another case is that of awka express road, from amawbia down to the boundary Btw anambra and enugu. The state Govt knew that if they leave that road in that shanty state, it will draw them back in achieving their goals in awka, so, they started working on it, it is 90% complete, it gave access in and out of awka, it gave investors more hope in awka, today awka is an investment hub in SE, awka is the fastest developing area in soth east. Why? Because they had vission, they had plans and they worked towards achieving their dream @ record time. The good news is, when the FG decides to award that very osha Enugu express from head bridge to Enugu, the amount meant for the already worked areas will be brought out and remitted back to state coffers, It will be a win win. If the FG refused, no problems, @least their aims of developing and opening the cities up for investment was achieved thus raising their IGR and reducing the suffering of the masses. So, if amaechi tot that airport was very important to the economy of the people of rivers, he would have done it with state money and then ask for refund. Rivers had enough money to do it as price of oil was good, plus d derivation, excess crude account he clamoured for its depletion leading to split of Nigeira governor forum. [/quote][/s] Your comment is ridiculous and this is the problem with nigerians, we have very very short memory. You have quickly forgotten that as governor amaechi had to fight tooth and nail for rivers state statutory allocation to be released. So how in heaven's name do u expect he will ever be paid for embarking on a federal govt project which they didnt send him. Thats not how govt works. Read your constitution, it is illegal and unconstitutional for state to assume federal powers/projects without prior express consent. And even if the consent is given, the money wld never have been released because of the hatred jonathan had for amaechi. Pls think before you type. 1 Like |

blackpanda: So, jonathan started hating amaechi from his inception as rivers governor? Amaechi has been a governor for some 3yrs b4 Gej becam a president, @least, GEJ and amaechi where not having problems the moment GEJ became d president. @least he had 1st tenure all to himself. He would have used it. So, all other states, anambra, Enugu, akwa-ibom and some other states that were doing d federal projects(critical) so that their people will benefit immensely are all f00ls, right? |

chigoizie7: What you are saying is neither here nor there. Which state govt is able to build an airport within 3yrs of coming into power Those states u mentioned were core Jonathan allies. But apart from that, amaechi also invested in thousands of projects of his own. You must not do federal govt project or build an airport to show u are working. Despite being the most hated governor by the entire pdp regime, he was able to build 400 schools, several roads and bridges etc How many of the state govts u mentioned built airports 1 Like |

blackpanda: No state Govt built airport maybe because airport was not their priority, many states built the ones that will favour them immensely. So, if amaechi thinks that rivers airport would favour the people of rivers then, the same way he is clamouring for it now, then he should have done it. A serious Govt can do it in 3yrs. As for any state building any airport in naija, well, let me not go far, delta state is not far as it is within the same south south. |

chigoizie7: You just answered your own question, its all about priority. Amaechi is now in govt and in a good position to do more for his people. I dont understand what your grievance is. So the fact that he is constructing an airport is now a problem You just sound ridiculous! Wike was Minister of education, how many schools did he build in rivers, since he loved rivers so much |

blackpanda: U re just pathetic, U really don't know what amaechi is arguing using d airport as a point. My point is, if he had saw it as a priority den as a governor the same way he saw it now, he would have done it. But if he didn't see it as a priority then, then that is more reason why the FG never saw it as a priority too. As for wike being the education minister and not doing any school in rivers, well rivers is not the only state in naija, but I am not talking about wike now, we are talking about amaechi and his hypocrisy. 2ndly, GEJ and his administration were voted out for their in competency. So,amaechi should do his job already as a transport minister and stop trying to score cheap and pointless political and campaign goals. And talking about education under GEJ, was it not d same amaechi that cancelled the maritime institute from his region? 1 Like |

chigoizie7: You can make your point without insulting people. You only get frustrated when your arguments are weak, myopic and just plain ridiculous! Amaechi is doing his job as transport minister. You are the one unnecessarily aggrieved. Anyway your opinion doesnt count. You can hate him all u want, it changes nothing. |

What Goodluck should have done while in power is what this man is doing now & yet many people from the land are blind to the move of God ,they are playing politics with bitterness which ought not to be so.. They stopped the project while Ameachi was the Gov simply because of political difference which ought not to be so..Now he is the one in charge of Transportation all over the federation..I think we have a lot of spiritual lessons to learn from this type of things in life.. It is God who reigns & rules over the affairs of men. |
