Such a father iis a deluded hypocrite and illiterate. Collecting N65 for payment in the name that their culture believe that big money means selling out the daughter.

Even if it is N1 naira the daughter is still sold! Only sold cheap. Cheap things don't last. Cheap things are fake. She might have one disability or hidden pproblem the man will manage that make hher cheap and affordable.

My sisters were married off for a bride price of N900 but their husbands still satisfied normal marriage rites which gulped almost 200K for each.

Is this rily necessary? Don't speak ill of what you do not understand.

There is much more to traditional rites than the surface level understanding u have applied to this. When a father deems his daughter precious, no amount can buy her. If he decides not to collect any BP (which I have seen happen) it neither makes her cheap/disabled nor does it make the father desperate to dispose of her. This usually goes with the "Take care of my daughter and ensure she looks better than she is today" advice.

I know men who value their wives regardless of whatever penny they dropped to fulfill the Bride Price requirement.

In benin tradition a bride price is #24.00 but that doesn't mean the groom won't spend money on other things listed. By the time you add up those costs you'll realize that a man spends more than that.
