BY PETER DURU MAKURDI – The incursion of suspected Fulani herdsmen into parts of Benue state took a worrisome dimension Thursday afternoon when the invaders stormed Tombo in Buruku local government area of the state, killing no fewer than 15 persons. Vanguard learned that the marauders who razed part of the community also took over the deserted villages. According to a source who spoke to Vanguard on phone from the besieged community, “as I speak with you the people are shooting sporadically and the villagers are fleeing for fear of being killed. “The situation in Tombo at the moment is scarery and we are helpless, it’s as if we are in a war situation where the mission of the invaders is to occupy and tske over our villages. “It’s a pathetic situation because corpses are littering the community though one cannot give a specific number of the dead which should not be less than 15 but I know that the casualty figure could be huge because many have been wounded as bullets continue to fly around. “The people are also burning down houses, farms and food stuff as they move into the villages in what looked like a well coordinated attack.” When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Assistant Superintendent, ASP, Moses Yamu who confirmed that seven persons had been killed said the incident occurred at about 3pm Thursday. Yamu disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Paul Yakadi had led a team to the crisis zone to ascertain the cause of the renewed clash in order to compel the feuding parties to cease hostilities.. Vanguard recalls that the attack on Buruku is coming on the heels of the recent attacks on Agatu and Logo lo local government areas of the state where hundreds of lives have been lost to the incursion of the herdsmen. Now this is the height of insensitivity of the government, if they can contain these Fulani herdsmen. They are being embolden to perpetrate more violence as their action go unchecked and unpunished. Where is our president for goodness sake. Since the police are completely useless to confront this menace. 2 Likes |

Again, what is the need of having security operatives in the state when they cannot match words with actions 1 Like |

Not again. The governor of the state has failed as the chief security officer of the state. Buhari has also failed in security provision to the masses, which is a mark of incompetence. The benue communities' youth has failed their generation by allowing this altrocity to linger. 1 Like |

See these useless things called Police o! So all they can do is have the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Paul Yakadi lead a team to the crisis zone to ascertain the cause of the renewed clash in order to compel the feuding parties to cease hostilities. They call rampaging criminals feuding parties so where is d feud when the victims are systematically being wiped out just for being Christian farmers and owners of farmlands? What about going in combat mode to arrest and prosecute the idiots called herdsmen who have overrun the place? What about even killing some of those rapists if they attempt to resist or return fire? How about immediately evacuating those opportunistic vagabonds so that those who have fled can be settled back in their homes? How about justice for the dead? What nonsense is going on in this country? Why are we yoked together with these blood sucking demons? Lugard and ur babe Flora, it shall not be well with u and ur home country. 2 Likes |

This is really getting out of hand. These Fulanis need to be dealt with thoroughly. They can't get away with all these blood shed. How can you go to another man's land and start killing? Its a known fact that Fulanis are heartless so they shouldn't be spared. |

It must always be vanguard, same people that broke news of the Ekiti lawmaker's "deah". This paper constitutes a threat to our national security honestly. The FG should keep very close tabs on their operations. These must b an unseen hand behind their recent activities. |

It's high time d people of benue state damn the consequences, pick up arms nd defend themselves. If heaven wants to fall, let it fall. No single tribe has monopoly for voice in this Nigeria. kenny987: You forgot to say how come no one is asking why the monsters are carrying guns? The fact that they occupy these comunities - weapons in hand - after killing and dispersing the natives, is a sure indicator, to me, that the so called fulani herdsmen are nothing but Government-backed terrorist organization. If truly we are in Democracy (where the citezens rule) the government would have sent an army against any gun carrying group, IRRESPECTIVE of the provocation. How can a true government call this a feud where the STRANGERS are armed with sophisticated weapons against vulnerable vilagers who have mostly never seen an AK47 all their lives? It's no feud my dear, it's a state spornsored terrorism/jihad against the religous minority. 2 Likes |

paschu: My dear it is alarming and very disgusting. When u tell people Buhari and his people have an evil agenda some blind supporters will curse u out. Yet all these occurrences only lend credence to such assertions. I wonder why the criminals under d guise of herdsmen carry weapons openly and no one sees anything wrong. The original plan of boko haram was to wipe out Christians in the North. Since people have seen through their wickedness they share d casualties amongst fellow muslims to douse suspicion. Now it is obvious the real religious cleansing is ongoing with more boldness because their master and chief sponsor is president. See the sharp increase in abduction, forceful conversion and rape of Christian minors especially from last year! I just pray God to hasten the division of this country, we need it badly! 3 Likes 1 Share |

Oche211: The funny part is that once they decide to go on self defense and even launch counter attacks to at least dislodge the fools occupying their lands, the police will become very proactive and you will see headlines like, 'Police Foil Reprisal Attacks; Arrest 17 Youths'. In the body of that news u will see Arase and his goons talking tough as how he will not allow lawlessness and the police will prosecute those caught. This country is a joke and scam! It is not and will never be a nation. 1 Like |

Is it because Buhari is a cattle breeder that he has decided to keep deaf ear and sealed lip over this? Dont he know his mindles brothers are allover the South killing, raping and abducting innocent people. He should act now or they are on jihad mission to wipe out the 'infidels' and take over their land? |
