TheGoodJoe: So you don't know Toni Kroos? I am saying we need to scout good players. That's all. Check their records it speaks for them. |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:07pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
forgiveness: Tell me the English big boys in Real Madrid today. Hence their level is bigger than Bayern and Barca. |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by forgiveness: 2:09pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
safarigirl: Wetin be give up. Is it true or not that is was the best player in the world? |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:12pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
forgiveness: So only Toni Kroos in a whole generation and you want us to kill us. Man stop talking all these. The Germans have a far developed League system and it is easier for their players to succeed than us. Still, a whole set of U17 fell behind and you are talking long story. U17 is for our local boys. If Alaba does not like it, he can play for Austria. The U20 is there for them to compete. If we used your wish, Solanke who was a Chelsea youth attacker will get picked over Iheanacho. We stuck to scouting the grassroot and today Nacho is gapping him like Usain Bolt running against a secondary school sprinter. |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:15pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
forgiveness: Michael Owen that disappeared in Real Madrid's bench. We used Binoculars to find your best players name on team sheets. Best player among his average English folks. No where near the likes of Da Lima, Inzaghi, Eto'o, Kaka etc. Oliseh is begging our youngsters to stop watching them English lads. |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by forgiveness: 2:22pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe: Are you saying no English players ever played for Real Madrid? Hehehe! Remember, Beckham was there not too long ago? |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by safarigirl(f): 2:24pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
forgiveness:Bros, Michael Owen was bang average like the rest of his compatriots. The EPL can make any average joe look like Pele, na La Liga dey expose those frauds. Even the Dele Alli you're hailing here won't make Barca's B team's bench |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by forgiveness: 2:26pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe: Puuuuuheheh! Atleast, if you call the list of best players in the world English players go dey for line. Okocha, Rasheed no dey for the list na. |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by safarigirl(f): 2:26pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
forgiveness:Ten years ago at least, THEGOODJOE said TODAY. Stop changing the goal post, in the last ten years, what has England produced? |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:28pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
forgiveness: During their Champions League drought. Only Steve McManaman who won, the English players led to a drought. |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by safarigirl(f): 2:29pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
forgiveness:if Okocha could make Pele's FIFA-Approved list, why are you making a mockery of yourself on an international forum? |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by forgiveness: 2:31pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
safarigirl: Atleast, he won the best in the world and outshined many players in the Premier League where the likes of Okocha, Kanu etc could not replicate what he deed. Barca na de only club in the world? That was what most thought about Alaba but see where he is today. |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:31pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
safarigirl: It was a very clear statement. Which of the English players today can walk into the starting line up of Bayern and Barca. He is deviating because his World Cup favorites do not follow. I wonder why it is painful to him that some local pure water selling young boys became big boys and made their family proud due to our focus in using the U17 to develop our grassroot talents. The thing is painful to him that Nacho is now teaching Aguero how to dance Shoki. |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:34pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
forgiveness: Who thought low of Alaba? It is even respect the coaches gave him. Boy you do not need this opportunity like our local boys. Alaba did not need the U17 to become a top star. Iheanacho, Nwakali, Osimhen needed it. Iwobi did not need it. Look at him today. He is an addition to our team while we still could produce Iheanacho. 1 Like 1 Share |

Most Nigerians abroad even those with mixed races are still connected to Nigeria in one form. From under 20 level, we should be seeking the best from wherever they are, home or abroad. I agree with home based under 17 only because of MRI tests. In the past, we knew many of them were not under 17. When i was in final year Unilag (a long time ago), I had a class mate who went to play football. He claimed 18. We were around 22-23 at the time. That is +5 years. It is easy to get a passport for whatever age. In Yemi Tella's time, i would have gotten players from academies abroad. At that time, too many chairmen were claiming under 17. |

tbaba1234: That is with respect to winning the trophy. However in such a level as the U17. The most important thing is development, education and experience. This tournament provides it for the local boys and trading it for players in Europe defeats the purpose of growing our pool of star players. Remember Sunday Stephen who grew up in the Valencia Academy and played for the Spanish youth sides. When he was ready for senior team Football, he chose Nigeria. This U17 tournament is a pathway for a lot of kids without hope. I do not see the reason why we should block these routes for kids who are with good structures to succeed. 1 Like 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe: I agree but in the past, we played with chairmen... Now, i will choose locally because we can sieve out the age cheats. In Yemi Tella's time, i would have been more inclined to choose Nigerians from western countries. Their records are verifiable. If a kid from abroad shows up in camp, i will give him a fair shot. The exposure will also help them in their development. |
Re: Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: U-20 World Cup (South Korea 2017) by TheSuperNerd(m): 4:07pm On Mar 19, 2016 |
Owen was never "WORLD BEST". He was European best (old european Ballon D'or-- became merged with Fifa world best in 2010 to form the Fifa Ballon D'or) in 2001 while at Liverpool and we know why. Luis Madeira Figo was "WORLD BEST" with the Fifa world player of the year award that year. You dare compare Owen to Kanu and Okocha!!!!? Come here, let me lay my hands on you...... Something is definitely SUPER WRONG with this "foreign-only" mentality of yours. forgiveness: 1 Like |

TheSuperNerd: Bros, e never reach like that na. Because the best plays in Europe. Nevertheless, FIFA World best was inuagurated in 1991. Ballon_d or had been existence since 1958. Does that in anyway annul the past recipient as the best in Europe or the world? You think say na too dey dribble na him be football? The truth is, at the time he won it Kanu and Okocha were there but he outshined them both to win it. Hehehe. Many said he flopped in Madrid but they have forgotten he scored 16 goals in 45 matches in his first and only season in Madrid. Let Kanu and Okocha try win Ballon_d or first na. Owen is far better than those guy you know. Oh! He was also included in the so called 100 legend by Pele. |

Owen never even won the Uefa Champions League Kanu did that. Owen won the English FA Cup once. Kanu Tripled that. Owen better?? I don't think so. Ballon D'or began in 1956 actually and ONLY RECOGNISED PLAYERS BASED IN EUROPE. IN 1958 and 59, PELE WAS ROCKING THE WORLD. PELE DOMINATED THE WORLD SCENE FROM 1958 TILL 1970 (SUPER ACTIVELY). Why didn't the Ballon D'or pick him up?? because he was based in South America yet he was undoubtably the best in the world. #smiles. forgiveness: |
