Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the rerun elections in the state have shown clearly who is on ground and who is accepted by the people.

He said the rerun elections have proved that the control of INEC, Federal might, military, police and other security agencies cannot translate to electoral victories as the people will always resist agents of rigging.

Governor Wike accused the defeated Rivers State APC Governorship Candidate, Dakuku Peterside of hijacking results from Isiokpo in Ikwere LGA on Sunday.Soeaking further,he went on to accuse Mr Dakuku Peterside and his security details of opening fire and killing an aide to his Chief of Staff, Mr Emeka Woke.

In an interactive session with newsmen on Sunday, Governor Wike said most of the military men deployed for the elections were used by APC leaders to hijack materials, illegally arrest PDP and manipulate the process.He said the people resisted the attempt by the military to subvert the election process.

“Remember I warned that today’s Nigeria is not yesterday’s Nigeria. Things that were done wrongly before cannot be done wrongly now. I warned that the people will resist any attempt to rig”, he said .

He said it was unfortunate that the military has been reduced to this level when they will be used against public interest.He said the number of military men unleashed to intimidate and harass Rivers people is regrettable as they failed to tackle security challenges.

“Now they have the Federal might, Army, Police, INEC and DSS, but we have the people” , Governor Wike said.

On the conduct of the rerun legislative elections, Governor Wike maintained that INEC was not prepared in terms of logistics and planning.

On the issue at the Mile 1 Police Station, the governor said Mrs Ekwi Adebisa is the girlfriend of the APC Candidate for the Port Harcourt Federal Constituency who framed her abduction alongside APC leaders.

I'm so impressed with the courage and unparalleled resistance put up by Governor Wike and all PDP members in Rivers State. Federal might only works when the people don't support the leader; if they do,like we do in Rivers state, there's absolutely little the so called Federal might can achieve.

The people of Rivers are clear on their choice, they have said no to a rebellious son&his band of northern jihadist!

Good thing from the rerun is that we now see clearer picture of minds of Rivers people. The result will not be like 1.4m to 70K we had in 2015 election. Subsequent elections in the North should show the same pattern, politicians should let the votes count, majority is not 100% but 51%

Most people voted with their feet to stay at home, WIKE just had to say something to boost his morale, he knew his friend AMAECHI gave him a good fight.

Yes in an open election PDP will win due to the demonization of APC but it will not be 100% Look at the victory in Opobo, would never have been possible if AMAECHI did not relocate back.
