Spread the good news!!! Due to popular demand, I have decided to upload BPP ACCA study texts and practice and revision kits for Paper F1-Paper P7 to my blog. The only exception is paper F6 and paper P6 and this is because the copies I have are old and the tax laws(Finance Act) change every year. Ordinarily, these books are suitable for exams till June 2015 but, since there were no recent changes in the syllabuses for most ACCA papers, most people will find them highly relevant. ICAN candidates can also use these materials to complement ICAN study packs. Kindly contact me if you experience any trouble in downloading the books. Visit www.ng-books..com to download them now! I hope to upload the latest versions of these books in the nearest future. keep checking. Spread the word!!!!! 3 Likes 1 Share |

You can register by yourself. It's quite easy. Just follow the steps on ACCA website. You can pay with your master card If l register this December and l get confirmed by January,do I still have to pay subscription fees for year 2016? And can we use our voters card to enter the exam hall because I don't have National ID card and drivers licence? |

Did you write December? No I didn't I am taking a break from ACCA exams till December 2016. My firm's policy requires accounting graduates to wait for at least 12 months before writing professional exams I am surprised that they didn't allow temporary official ID cards. I hope you weren't affected by this |
Re: Choosing Between Acca And Ican by bfn1: 10:58pm On Dec 16, 2015 |
sureguy02: You need to put the following factors into consideration before opting for either one
1. Prestige/Recognition: ACCA is recognised all over the world except in a few countries like canada and the US. ICAN is more recognised than ACCA in Nigeria. ICAN is preferred in the Nigerian setting. You could settle for ICAN if you do not pan to work outside Nigeria, most especially if you have plans of setting up your own consultancy firm. Only people that qualified with ICAN are allowed by law to practise in Nigeria.
2. Cost: ACCA is far more expensive than ICAN. The current exchange rate is not helping matters. Each ACCA paper now goes for about 32K!!!. ICAN is relatively cheaper. The annual subscription for ACCA is now about 30K for students and 70K for members. ICAN is definitely preferable in terms of cost.
3.Flexibility/Results: ACCA exams are more flexible. They have increased the number of sittings in a year to 4(March, June, September and December). ICAN exams are written in only May and November. ACCA students already know the date results would be released even before writing the exams, while ICAN students need to speculate. ACCA is far more organised in this regard.
4. Entry Point: Non accounting graduates start ACCA from the scratch. Accounting graduates are given exemptions in four papers. Non-accounting students also start ICAN from the scratch except for some courses that get exemption in paper A1(Quantitative techniques in business). People that qualified under ICAN need to write 5 papers under ACCA, while ACCA peeps need to write only advanced taxation, business law and PSAF.
5. Venue for Exams: ACCA is written in only major cities in Nigeria while ICAN is written in almost every state. The venues for ACCA exams are more conducive than those of ICAN. ACCA students write their exams under tight AC in event centres and hotels, unlike ICAN.
6. Toughness/Difficulty: Many ICAN students think ACCA is very easy. They are wrong! ACCA syllabuses are more robust. Their exams are extremely time pressured. Many people get stuck at some stages. Nevertheless, ACCA exams are easier to pass. This is because the examiners are more lenient. They do not penalise candidates for doing the wrong thing more than once. If a wrong figure is used consistently and correctly in further analysis, the candidate would not be penalised further for the earlier mistake made. I think this is where ICAN is missing it. Passing ICAN is more about luck and grace and not just about the level of preparation or brilliancy. ACCA exams on the other hand are passed by brilliant and diligent students that cover every inch of the syllabus.

I am surprised that they didn't allow temporary official ID cards. I hope you weren't affected by this I would have been affected ; although we were allowed to write the exam, we filled a declaration form that we will produce the original copy before the exam ends, if not our scripts will not be marked.. I was able to get my original drivers license on that Friday when the exams are to end, so the form didn't get to ACCA.. You are in Delloite? |

No there is a guide on the site for registering, you should find it during your course. The only advise I can give is to register for not more than 2 papers if you are gonna take in June or just one if you are taking in March diet.. You can then make your decisions about subsequent diets based on how you are able to cope with the once you have written. Contrary to popular beliefs that ACCA is easier to pass than Ican, I can categorically tell you this is false.. ACCA requires you to be VERY TECHNICAL in each paper (can't say much now). |

http://ng-books..com/2015/07/acca-vs-ican.html BIG NO SIR! passing ICAN ain't by luck or by grace(yes, you need the grace of God but without hard work! SORRY). You pass ICAN modules by lot of preparedness which includes trying as much to cover atleast 90% of the syllabus and solving lots of questions (major undoing of student). Are you telling when you leave you answers scripts blank you'll scale through via grace and luck NO SIR.... Please be very critical with you points and don't misguide people. Bless. 1 Like |

I think he is talking about some kind of weird ways of marking and not just lack of preparation by students. ICAN possess this notion in our education system of no student is good enough to be the best than the teacher. The usually poor success rate can't solely be blamed on lack of preparation by the students. Remember the silly excuse last year or 2 on failure rate in law school, where the legal council came out to defend it by saying students were not serious in class, most usually play with their phones during lecture, etc. Probably, ICAN might be controlling the population of its members, not sure though, but it's obvious there is something weird about them. |

I choose ACCA despite the cost!
1. Anyone who has got d certificate can always work anywhere around the world but wit ICAN u can't! Even here in Nigeria, I observe dat ACCA is still very much preferred dan ICAN
2. Anoda point on d view of it been tough n intense.... is 30% accepted! If u av got a better tutorial to attend n a comprehensive learning kit, trust dere will be notjing difficult for you to attend on ACCA exams!
