Endless Inconclusive Changes Are We Cursed? by grosebiz(m): 1:25pm On Mar 21, 2016
It all started in the room of imperial Lord Lugard. While having some passionate time out with his girl, Flora Shaw, a name was dropped for their captured territory, Niger Area. Since it is around the River Niger, let it be so named.
Later, it became Nigeria for easy grammatical garb. Flora Shaw must have, in the heat of passion, hysterically, laughed it off as a name for this vast territory.
To show love and respect, Lord Lugard, peradventure, ecstatically, shouted "bravo" to his mistress's instinctive outburst.
A journey began that day. It has being tumultuous and tiring, arduous and killing, the destination far beyond the arrows of the prophet's compass. Nigeria since that day has never known any discernible, sustainable progress.
It is so bad that whenever we troop out to celebrate a victory over mediocrity as a nation, preparatory to favorable socioeconomic transformations, the deafening crescendo of the jubilant drummers and incoherent singers, give way at dawn for mourning of painful losses during the festivities.
The joyful crowd retire back into their environmental labyrinths. Are we cursed as a nation? I cannot answer this, for my people will pounce on me religiously and traditionally, copiously mouthing prophetic and customary chants without mercy or thought. I have learnt to live by this. You better do if you must survive this surreal contraption of ours. We have been hedged to a corner of illusion and delusion. We need help and that very fast.

Over a century, Nigeria has never known any enduring good success. Successive administrations come with topnotch programmes of revolution and most turned out to be channels of graft. To every tear of joy shed by Nigerians, there are always tears of sorrows afterwards. We are stereotypes of jaded beings. Antitypes of delusionary inhabitants of a lost island.
Inconclusive padded budget, inconclusive JAMB exams, inconclusive court cases, inconclusive portfolios, inconclusive forex evaluation, inconclusive murders, inconclusive end to negative trends. On and on, the list stretches. While we must say it is not all tales of woes, we must never be negligent of what brought us here, indifference to matters of national concerns.
I still find it really appalling, how we as a people, believe an administration can never be wrong as long as it does what we want to hear and not what we need to hear. We should always talk whenever we notice a drift. It can't be perfect, but it can be corrected to be so accurate, rightly enough for our immediate good.

This administration came with euphoric sounds of joy and hope. It was a replicate of Biblical triumphant entry. Nigerians were not ready to sit down and discuss federal character or religious alignments. They repulsed historical betrayals and embraced fraternal bonds. It was evident her people wanted change. They got the change and they rejoiced noisily.
Thanks to the previous administration, they left without resort to violence and disregard for peace and harmony.

It has been almost a year and we have seen detours to roads we hate to walk. We are joyful and mournful. Our joys borne out of hope for financial propriety, our sorrows spread by real time replays of forgotten past. Elections held so far in Kogi, Bayelsa and Rivers state, gave disgraceful garlands to the officials at the nation's electoral office.

These elections were shamefully tagged inconclusive! Seems this administration has forgotten that the federal institution that enthroned her is INEC. Independent national electoral commission,INEC, brought the Buhari Administration to power, and stood its ground to see Mohammad Buhari so declared as the winner of the presidential elections.
Just in less than 6 months, elections into various positions in Kogi, Bayelsa and now Rivers states have been everything but commendable. They have witnessed a gale of inconclusive declarations. In Kogi state, it took the Senate and House of representatives to restore order. The relative quiet is still suspect with court cases dogging the new administration.

Bayelsa state is no better. It was another round of inconclusive elections in certain local governments. Rivers state is the worst of these. Human heads fell before the first vote was ever cast.
Is this INEC ready? Is this administration ready to enshrine a degree of sanity in our electoral chequered history?
Are we good to go in Ondo state, the next battleground of political gladiators? Can we trust the new INEC chairman to deliver without any inconclusive election recorded? Can this government prove doubters and worriers wrong in Edo elections?

One thing is sure, one thing will stand. Nigerians are now wiser. They don't vote to show allegiance. They now vote to disappoint disappoinments.

Nigeria is cursed and shall remain curse until a true national conference is convened to discussed and addressed the problem of Nigeria. It is not by force that we must be one.

I trust a great leader with an eye for positive productive changes will rise up and save us from the illusions of hypocrisy
