Clearing up more ignorance like it's my duty. cckris:Mr Chris... cckris:So much ignorance. Let me explain this one time. Every Nation has a Ruler/President. The US has one, Nigeria has one. The PRESIDENT is a title, not a Person. So when an American Citizen says 'My President', you don't think Buhari, you think Barrack Obama. In same vein, every nation/tribe had their GOD (their creator, their source, their origin). These Gods were created in their images and spoke their language. Allah doesn't speak French, Yahweh doesn't speak Ijaw. Yawheh and Allah referred to the local Gods of a particular tribe. Unlike the Yoruba,Igbo, Indian gods, the Abrahamic GODS(Allah and Yahweh) considered all other Gods evil. From David to Mohammed, these men conquered lands and people, destroying everything in their wake. You don't need to read the Old Testament, read your news. The evidence is still there in the Middle East. Lucifer's demons have nothing whatsoever to do with the African gods. Lucifer is Yahweh is Lucifer. What good thing did the African gods give us? Look at your delicacy and your local language. Maybe, your ancestors weren't so savage afterall. Your language is proof they could communicate. Your local delicacy is proof they were good farmers, and knew how to use basic cooking utensil. Did the white man teach us how to cook oha and periwinkle? Did they teach us to say "Bia" and "Ndo"? What about your traditional wears? Proof that there were tailors and we manufactured textiles too. We weren't naked and hopeless. Harmattan for don show us shege.. How about local medicines? The medicinal benefits of the kolanut? Our leaves and that nasty worm that grows on trees? Maybe we didn't have western medicine. But we had local healers who treated illnesses and sicknesses. If we didn't, we would all have been dead before they arrived our shores. .. Unfortunately, how you think is who you are. When they left pur lands, they left behind their minds, their history, their perception of us. They left their minds in our education system. And we never changed it. They left their Bible in our palms, while we gave our lives to Chris and swore by Allah. We took to calling their lands holy lands, travelling to Jerusalem and Mecca to see I remember as a kid rejecting the notion of having to eba with fork and spoon. Most of us have probably experienced that too. Yet, we believe a Jew who was killed over 2000 years ago by his kinsmen, was right about our gods, our history, our future. 10 Likes 3 Shares |

sonOfLucifer:Actually religion (especially christainity) is playing a vital role in controlling the universe. It gives hope to the hopeless, it unites families, some missionaries build free schools and hospitals, religion restrains one from doing evil, the list is endless. Atheists shouldn't be against religion. They should be after developing the world and leave religion for the religious. Cos if everyone is an atheist, then this world will be one poo hole. With crimes everywhere. My contribution. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

cloudgoddess:Africa without religion will be nothing but a blood zone. Why do you think religion was invented in the first place? As an atheist, you have to think far and wide. Just picture a scene where no Nigerian believe in God, trust me, even the Government won't be able to control the citizens no more. From the graphical figure you gave, who came up with the stats? Why is it hard for you to believe in God but easy for you to believe in one imaginary statistics. I'm not trying to sound religious , I just try not to believe in anything anymore (scientific or religious) until I can see, feel and verify. 1 Like |

Lol. Another case of giving a dog a bad name to hang it. ShyNeptune:I really have no idea where your kind make up these sort of assumptions and hold unto them, despite evidence to the contrary. Christian/Muslim fights has been responsible for most of the violence we've experienced in our country. Africa with religions has been nothing but a blood zone, a place of suffering, a continent unable to take care of itself or provide for its children. Yet, we remain the most religious and superstitious. ShyNeptune:Religion was invented out of our fears and ignorance. Yes, it helped our race and species as it helped foster a sense of identity and togetherness. But we must realize when what once helped us has become an impediment to our growth and further expansion. ShyNeptune:There's no need to picture one. I live in a Nigeria where about 99% believe in God. I see violence on the streets and on the frontpage of NL. We all suffer from the criminal activities of Bible and Quran swearing politicians. Where officials blame demons or 'God knows best', when their citizens are killed by their mistakes and lack of thought and foresight. We all see this everyday, yet we continue to live in denial. ShyNeptune:Ah, finally... ShyNeptune:Lol. Says the one who assumes Nigeria will be worse off without religion, and discards facts and data from 'atheist' societies that prove otherwise. It's well. By the way, If proving religion is false will make you take up arms to slaughter your parents and family, you can have your religion. Others don't need such chains for their love is not written in Holie Books, but within themselves. No GOd, no matter how powerful or real, will make me kill a fellow human. 4 Likes |

musKeeto:Haha you really cracked me up! I can't really say much for Islam, but christainity has done more good than harm. Kindly tell me one christain you know who killed for his God in this present world. Do you know any? In your words below Religion was invented out of our fears and ignorance.Do you really think that was why religion was created? Funny. Years ago, some great philosophers Envisaged a future where immorality and Crime became the order of the day. They sought out a way to save mankind from his inhumanity. Then finally they came up with religion as a tool to forestall the impending doom. I'm not a religios man, I only believe that religion is the best tool to control man. That's why it's easier for a pastor to control his followers than for a governor to control his citizens. The only problem with religion is that it got contaminated over the years. I dislike religious men because they try to force their believes down the throat of non believers. And that's the same line the atheists are now towing. Atheists of today are now trying to force their believe down the throats of others. Once again, leave religion for the religious. Cos the moment everyone go with the believe that there is no God is the moment the world will come to an end because of man's natural greed and his inhumanity to his fellow man. The fact that youre an atheist and a peaceful atheist does not mean that everyone will make a peaceful atheist too. Not everyone can control the power of atheism. Leave religion for the religious 6 Likes 1 Share |

ShyNeptune:Africa without religion will be nothing but a blood zone. People across Africa are already slaughtering nonbelievers, "witches" (children included), and homosexuals by the droves, directly for religiously-motivated reasons. Whether religion is doing anything positive for Africans as far as keeping crime at bay is highly questionable (and in my opinion extremely unlikely) considering the large amount of crime that's commited already even in the presence of high religiosity, AND in the name of religion itself. From the graphical figure you gave, who came up with the stats? Why is it hard for you to believe in God but easy for you to believe in one imaginary statistics. The first was from the 2009 Global Peace Index, the second was from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. Not sure why you would automatically dismiss them as imaginary, perhaps your own bias was clouding your interpretation? Manually looking up the crime rates & rates of religiosity for the individual countries would yeild the same patterns; I've done it for a few of the countries shown on the second graph. Across the board it seems that secular developed societies have far overgrown the need for religion. There's no reason to believe, then, that even if certain key areas are improved (like education, government, & wealth distribution, which in Nigeria are all currently very flawed), other countries would not be able to thrive in the absense of widespread strongly held religious beliefs as well. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Re: What If The Bible Is A Lie? by cloudgoddess(f): 11:25pm On Mar 21, 2016 |
ShyNeptune:How: Collaberative efforts of human imagination & storytelling, guided by the natural human inclination to attribute causes & effects where there are none, and to assume supernatural causes for unexplained phenomena. Why: To provide answers to questions people had no way of answering yet (in the absense of science), such as what caused the weather and disease (Sun & rain gods, for example, were very common in early polytheistic societies, & diseases & bad weather were nearly always attributed to curses and upset deities). To help govern societies and provide mental strength in an age where resources were limited, war was rampant, and democracy was not yet invented. To give hope to the poor and dying. To alleviate the concerns regarding what happened after death, and avoid the pain of death by inventing an afterlife to look forward to. Mostly for psychological, emotional, & political needs - the majority of which, as thriving modern secular societies have proven, can now be more than sufficiently met by non-religious means. 2 Likes 1 Share |
