Go ahead, your money will be held in escrow so the contract will be fully scam proof.
It is more expensive however, so maybe you can seek a developer and take him to fiverr or freelancer to award the job there.

It goes beyond just the website.
You will need a graphics team, supply team, distribution team, stock team.
I can help you, but ur budget would have to be above 500,000. Because you will need a secured dedicated hosting free from hackers and to incorporate a good online payment module.

Thanks for your input. I have suppliers lined up already. Some products have been sourced. I don't need a graphics team. I make my own graphics. I don't need a team to manage my supplies; they are delivered right to my door. I have hosting already, from a very good host outside naija. I don't need a distribution team; my products would be sold primarily online. I have preliminary arrangements with DHL and EMS.

What else? Yeah, budget. I have way more than amount you quoted. I would be fine.

I just need someone to customize the site. By the way, I already bought the theme.
